Kewl! I've worked with PMTs, and a friend of mine worked on the CLEAN project and built detectors, kind of in the same idea as this, but they were detecting light signals from neutrino interactions. I really like that bundle of fibers. That would be fun to play with.
It looks like it's fluorescing green, is it doped with fluorescein? Do parts of the detector near the collision point like this retain any residual radioactivity for years after decommissioning? I've never heard of D0 being dropped before, when did this happen?
