  • This is an update to my previous video. I recently got a replacement only to my disappointment of having the same leakage issue.
What happens if I am juicing e.g. a big orange or a grapefruit and lot of juice comes out at the same time, then it leaks from the sides of the spout. And if I close the spout and try to juice and open the spout, that's when half the juice spills all over the counter from the sides of the spout (Please see the video)
Then I went and did some research online. Even the official Breville video on RUclips shows a leak if you go to 33 seconds in the video ( • Breville -- Tips and T... ). Then I looked at some 3rd-party reviews and all the reviews either do not juice with spout closed or they just never open the spout after juicing (because I am sure they know it will spill all over)
Amazon sent me a replacement and it has the same problem, so basically Breville never thought through properly and introduced a design flaw in something which have been working in 20 years old juicers.
Overall built, quality, mechanics and looks are solid. It looks great on the counter with all stainless steel built. But what good is a juicer if the basic functionality is missing.
Other three things that I did not like are:
1- The top part that comes off, is not very easy to pull out or plug back in. They could have done a better job. Inside is also plastic and a bit harder to clean
2- The strainers and the cone that I have to wash are a bit rough steel, not that smooth so the pulp sticks to it and it is slightly harder to wash away, but that is something I can live with.
3- Breville used to include two strainers with this product; a fine strainer and one coarse for more pulpy juice. Now they only include the pulpy one. Even though most people including myself would prefer more pulp, but it does bother me that they removed one item from original product.
I think it is a love and hate relation, because I really like the way it juices and really hate when it spills. So if I decide to keep the juicer I will have to be aware of that flaw and:
1- Never juice with the spout closed
2- Juice in slow motion when juicing grapefruits or other larger citruses.

The spout is to prevent it from leaking after juicing. Leave the spout open with a cup or glass under it while juicing. To prevent from leaking with large citrus press down slowly🤔 your welcome.

Well, I think the intention with the spouts, was imo to stop it from dripping after pressing, not for what you are using it for!

Hi @Henrik, thanks for your feedback. Yes I realized that the the stopper was designed to only stop it from dripping, but that was my whole point that my $30 juicer was actually holding the juice without spilling any while Breville did not honor the decades old design that actually works in hundreds of juicers.

Ah, those rich men and their problems? You explained it to him very well, let's hope he understood.

The spout should be in the down position, not up. When you're finished juicing you raise the spout up to prevent dripping. I've had my Breville forever and I love it. You need to read the instructions.

It doesn't leak if you leave the spout open while you press the fruit. The reason you are getting leaking is because you have allowed a large amount of juice to build up so when you open the spout it pours out the side of the spout. The spout lock is there to stop drips in between changing a fresh glass or for when you have stopped. It is not there to hold all the juice in until you have finished 🤦‍♂

The difference in price likely has to do with plastic v stainless steel. This Breville seems to be the only motorized full steel one available

Was the replacement free from Amazon? I am thinking of getting this Breville but the spout leakage is a bit of a pain. The Braun spout looks good but it's all plastic and there is no lever to help with pressing the citrus halves.

Why is yours called the CPXL? Do you know the difference of it from the CPBSS?
