Drawing YOUR OCs in my STYLE! ✨ I bought the CHEAPEST 80 ALCOHOL MARKERS | Touch Young AM review

Hi everyone, welcome to my review of the 80 Touch Young Alcohol Markers! I'm excited to share my thoughts on these markers, especially since they come in a whopping 80 colors. I started by creating swatches of all 80 colors on a custom template I printed on thick paper. However, I encountered an issue when using marker paper. The ink kept smudging, so I switched to regular paper, which worked much better. To test the markers' capabilities, I chose to draw Minty, an adorable strawberry and mint chocolate chip ice cream girl created by sleepy.lammy. I sketched the design on my iPad and then transferred it to a Talens Art Creation sketchbook, which I highly recommend for marker use.
🌸 PROS
~80 Colors: The sheer number of colors is impressive, providing a wide range for blending and creating diverse shades.
~Affordable: At around $10 for 80 markers, these are incredibly budget-friendly.
~Versatile: Suitable for various art styles, including illustration, manga, and sketching.
~Full ink reservoirs: The markers are filled to the end, ensuring they won't dry out quickly.
🌸 CONS
~Marker Paper Issue: I experienced smudging on marker paper, but switching to regular paper resolved the problem.
~Bleeding: The markers can bleed through thin paper, so using thicker paper is recommended.
~Don't blend well
~Hard nibs: The nibs of the markers are hard, making it difficult to color smoothly.
~Not ideal for advanced artists: While these markers are suitable for beginners, more advanced artists may prefer markers with softer nibs and better blending capabilities.
The Touch Young Alcohol Markers are a great option for beginners looking for a budget-friendly and versatile set of markers. They offer a wide color selection. However, the hard nibs and potential for smudging on marker paper may be drawbacks for more experienced artists. If you're considering purchasing these markers, keep in mind their strengths and weaknesses to determine if they meet your needs. They're a good value for the price, but if you're looking for professional-grade markers, you may want to consider investing in a higher-quality set.

Marker paper has 2 different sides. The slippery side is the back of the paper and is not for use. That is the backing of the paper and I think it's to help to keep the ink from bleeding through the paper. The front side is for the markers to be used on and isn't slippery. However, it is smooth (doesn't have a rough texture like mixed media paper).

I used watercolor paper so I don't have to worry too much about the staining. It soaks up pretty fast, but I haven't attempted to blend smoothly or do gradient color. No bleed through. Watercolor 140 lb or 300gsm. Lovely little lady drawing. Speedy recovery! Checking out your content 🤗❤️👍🏽💯

Thank you so much! 🥹❤️ I mostly use mix media paper or sketchbooks with thicker sheets. Canson Mix Media has 200 gsm but still markers bleed through to the other side. On a separate sheet of paper it doesn't bother me but in a sketchbook it's a bit problematic, because I can't use all the pages the way I'd like 😁

​​@@Yooniey_ah well ohuhu came out with a new sketchbook just for alcohol markers and another brand called bienfang has a sketchbook that doesn't bleed through. I noticed canson always bleeds through a lot

I noticed u said u only draw female characters but I want to encourage you to become more versatile as an artist because it widens your audience and makes you a better artist in general. It also gives your channel more diversity and interest

Thank you very much for your advice! Sometimes I draw a male character but I'll honestly admit that I don't enjoy it that much. Even if it would help me develop my channel or my skills I don’t want to draw something by force without fun 💔
