  • The principle underpinning this system is well known: static electricity. All you need to generate a little electricity is cardboard, teflon tape and a pencil. A team from EPFL, working with researchers from the University of Tokyo, has taken these materials and come up with an 8 cm2 device able to generate electricity. In other words, a simple, eco-friendly and inexpensive system for producing the same current as two AA batteries, which can operate such things as remote controls.

It is very practical if you need to exercice your fingers. I will replace all my AA batteries.

Вентиляционные установки для помещений создают много вибрации, поместив несколько слоев поверх корпуса установки, можно получить немного энергии, тем самым снизив нагрузку на основные электросети

0:36 to be succinct, change "against" to "into", because the effect is to microscopically indent the surface of the paper cards with the sand paper's grit.

This generates AC press/release you could use some diodes to get DC and the screen will be less flashing

Slick. A larger surface area to increase your current output? And if you run it into a diode bridge? Just a thought or two....

I also try to make the same device but I just have Teflon tape. I made it exactly you said but it isn't worked. The reason for my failure is Teflon tape? I should use the Kapton tape as you ( when you confine the wire with prepared cardboard ).

How much is the current value obtained by you? .. thank you very much!

That effect thing is similar to theremin. Depends on wet or dry climate too. But may be working like rectantenna. Today we're plagued of lotta WiFi energy

Is your "Teflon" tape FEP instead of PTFE? Self-adhesive PTFE tape is very expensive! And is the "elastic tape" Kapton? It looks like Kapton, but I've heard Kapton tape doesn't stretch.

This appears to be 25mm wide Chukoh PTFE tape. What thickness did you use?

I have had some trouble finding Teflon tape. Where did you get yours? Also, which elastic tape did you use?

Good vidéo ! Can you tell me how much generate milliampère (mA) or micro ampère (μA) ?

    • @kreynolds1123
      @kreynolds1123 4 года назад

Too variable even with given size and frequency. But in large part, the average amps will be proportional to frequency and surface area and inversely related to humidity.

Better not, because Teflon(PTFE) ranks as strong effect in the triboelectric list.
Teflon(PTFE) at -190, Paper at +10 (and eg. Nylon at +30)

@@DiogoRocha kapton (polyimide) ranks at -70, but Teflon at -190 in the triboelectric list. So better use Teflon tape.

There are MUCH better ways to make triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) like this. If you make it more like an accordian, it works a LOT better. I have a video I made showing one of these, and I get up to 50 volts.
