The Bye Bye Man is one of those special movies that would benefit from a prequel instead of a sequel. The Hey Hey Girl. Or how bout the Astalavista Man.

That was hilarious when you started suggesting Bye-Bye Man sequels, haha. Might I suggest The Bye-Bye Man vs Art the Clown? Anyway, I also quite like this film, it's so ridiculous that I can't help but be fond of it. Plus, the performances by Doug Jones, Jenna Kannel and Cary Anne Moss were good, and the lore of the Peepee Poopoo Man is actually kind of interesting.
I need more of it in a sequel!
From what I understand, this movie is actually based on a Louisiana ghost story that wasnt fleshed out very well at all which explains the trains and dog. Saw this one in theatres at release and it was such a ride

I remember watching this back in 2017 and I still remember how much of a bad movie this was that it was so boring and one of my least favorite horror movies ever as well as one of the worst movies ever. But there's moments where I could kinda laugh at it.
My favorite part is when Bye Bye Man says "It's pee pee time!"

The train imagery is a relic of the original story, where the Bye-Bye man and his dog, who is made of tongues, travel by train. The original story is very weird and anti-climactic, so the movie scrapped almost everything in it other than the generalities of the character and the fact that saying or thinking his name summons him. As someone who went to see the movie because they’d read the story, I couldn’t help but think at the time “am I the only one who gets why they keep showing the random train”.

Edit: YESSSS conceptual imagery is so much scarier than showing gruesome images, of course graphic stuff has a place but at least for me is more “shock” than fear.

I had never watched this movie and only remembered this by name but I do remember the watch along you did for it. And after watching this recap, the movie is definitely something. Watched this with a friend. She and I have watched about 600 movies over the last few years. 90% have been horror. We put this in the last quarter of films we like but I guess it had a couple of cool moments. Great review as always.

This movie.
I remember when this came out, the whole "Slender Man" craze was already on its last legs after certain... things happened.
So a movie cashing in on the whole Creepypasta, Slender craze, it was a pretty hard sell already.
The fact that it is, in fact, an absolute trashfire, that was just the icing on the cake.
The slender man is another movie I need to cover because whew

For years I didn't watch this movie for the title alone, then last year I finally gave it a watch because I was in a cheezy horror film mode and needed something I hadn't seen yet. I liked the setting, it definitely has the fall vibes and it was actually pretty decent. I actually had a good time with it.

I remember they were talking about the Bye bye Man riding a train. After watching the movie. I took my dog for a walk. Heard a train. I was thinking what the heck. I thought it was a good movie. I remember watching it and didn't think it was that bad. Thought it would have faired better with an R rating. Also...since you love it so much...100% would back someone approaching you to direct the sequel. The Bye Bye Man: Haunted Cult. Then we could all be extras just chanting 'Dont Say It Dont Think It' and you wouldn't even have to pay us lol

I HATED this movie when I saw it in the cinema...I was getting angrier and angrier at it the more I watched. It's like the movie was directed by aliens who have studied Earth movies, seen a bunch of horror movies, and tried to replicate them. The acting is terrible, the dialogue is worse, the Bye Bye Man's powers and imagery are non-defined, the effects are bad, the man himself looks as generic as possible (he's a creepy guy with a bad complexion...scary?), it's just a train wreck of a movie. They know the tropes but they've executed them all so poorly...I hesitate to say it, but it's almost like horror's equivalent of The Room.

To this day I've still never seen The Bye Bye Man, I heard way too many bad things about this movie back in 2017 so I didn't bother watching it and I have still never watched The Bye Bye Man ,but maybe I'll watch this one day I sometimes like trash horror movies 😂😂
