I graduated high school in 2009 and I remember my friend group having a fedora that we would steal from each other and wear as a joke. So I think they were considered more of an ironic accessory than this movie makes it sound lol.
Not sure if someone mentioned it but The Roommate was a remake of the iconic (rated R) Jennifer Jason Leigh film Single White Female. I remember people saying this was a teeny bop version of the original. I never watched it, I was too loyal to the original 🤷🏻♀️ But I’m gonna watch it now 😊

Billy Zane is a great actor, usually flies under the radar because of the mediocre films he's been in. FUN FACT his first film was (small role) in Critters (1986)
He's a great actor, but I think Titanic might've hurt more than helped.. playing one of the most unlikable characters in cinematic history in one of the biggest films in cinematic history didn't really do him any favors, but that performance shows how talented he is..
There is nothing better on a Monday, then the start of a new week then going to the gym coming home and making lunch. Then sitting down checking RUclips and finding a new video by Haunted Hippie. Have not seen this movie. Don’t know when and if I will. Idk why but I sort of remember people talking about this in 2011 but I don't at all recall it being this type of movie. Though much like your Abigail review, I recognize a good number of the cast in this. I mean the first one was Aly Michalka from her time on Disney and iZombie. But the other people in this I was actually a bit surprised with. Like Matt Lanter who I knew from The Clone Wars animated show. Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham from Vampire Diaries. And Minka Kelly who was in the DC show Titans. Didn't know anything about this movie but I at least recognized the people in it. But thanks for a slightly chaotic recap of it!

I was so disappointed when I finally sat down to watch this movie after hyping it up so much in my head. It was so bad. Pretty much a remake of SingleWhiteFemale (1992) which is a much better movie imo
I remember those hats and some of the clothes being a thing in the 2000s. I had some friends(male and female) who would wear fedoras/pork pie hats and a thrifted suit vest over a t-shirt. I even sported a suede vest over a t-shirt a few times(I had them in black and brown. My uncle gave them to me). Also, believe it or not, there was even a sequel to this. Aptly titled The Roommate 2. Love your videos❤❤❤❤❤❤ Keep up the great work.
@HauntedHippie A really good friend of mine had a couple of vests that she found at Goodwill. They were fairly old and made of a really fine wool. One was black with Grey pinstripes. The other was a dark grey with white pinstriping that made a grid pattern. She would wear those with T-shirts or a baggy button-up. Man, those are some fun memories.
I haven't watched this movie since it came out in 2011 I was 17 at the time this came out and I remember liking this movie a lot but now I wanna give this movie a rewatch because I remember this movie being wild Lol also 6 dollars that's super cheap for a Blu-ray😂

I also really appreciate your take on the mental illness trope. Stats actually show that people with those two diagnoses tend to have lower than the average population risk for harm to others...meaning you are more likely to be hurt by someone that doesn't meet criteria for any mental health disorder than someone with schizophrenia...but movies (especially in the 2000s) just can't help perpetuating this anyway.
lmaoo this is hilarious I remember when this was a thing. this defo unlocked a memory haha. also fun fact about being covered in gasoline that movies never get right: you’d probably die from lack of oxygen just from being covered in gasoline before you die from being burned alive. would actually be an interesting twist on that kind of death scene to have it play realistically. but always takes me out of scenes like that haha like being covered in gasoline and not lit on fire is actually not nbd. yeah there was a time when psychological horror = mental illness bad. it really helped create such a terrible stigma. though if you go back to spellbound by hitchcock and they literally had a psychologist as a consultant. so using psychology as not just a scare tactic is doable haha. bad movies like this can actually be great and really inspiring, it’s great to know what doesn’t work and what ages poorly lmao also you should for sure do a peepee poopoo man revisited video where you also cover the channel lore about the movie and origin of the potty inspired nickname, it’d be dope!!

But I recently got The Strangers: Prey At Night Special Edition blu ray at Big Lots for $5 bucks a few years before it closed down.
