Well i guess some people cant have fun or replay value without showing their online dongo lol It just bragging rights wich is useless in the long run. You will be dead one day and your collection will be dust and noone will care if you were under the Top 100. Scores are only good to me for getting some extra lives^^
You need to take the needs and wants of the entire shmup community into consideration when crafting a fully comprehensive review. It's not just about me and its definitely not just about you. Your comment is short sighted. Good thing this series is ending.

Pointing out scoring mechanics (or lack thereof) is hardly 'being obsessed with scoring'. Due to Shumps often fairly simplistic nature and lack of real replay value without, optimising ones scoring adds an extra facet, which is why a game with limited scoring methods is quite unusual and may be a letdown for some.
Played an emulated version on a Dreamcast, and remember enjoying it for the addicting gameplay. Basically what you see here but not HD. I like to think of Andro Dunos 2 as a neat extension of the first. Look into it when you can.
The 16:9 update works well. The chunky sprites can take it w/out appearing stretched. Some more button customization options would help stick players. That aside, very impressed on PS5.
Picorinne Soft is known for their game's difficulty, despite it's retro appearance. The difficulty here is easily a match for Infinos Gaiden, although the final boss is a bit easier than the former In addition to shout-out from the original game, it looks like there's also some Thunder Cross cameos too, and the final boss looks suspiciously like the Flintlock from Xexex. Points to Picorinne Soft for attention to details Musical composition is also one of their strong suit, very promising
Just a quick note on the scoring. While it is true the score does not reset when continuing, the score itself DOES reflect how many continues have been used. The very last digit indicates the continue tally (much like Street Fighter II already did). This means there IS a way to distinguish the highest scores in a 1-cc.
Great review! I've been playing the PC release and I will say the game is a masterpiece. Well crafted, great stage design and neat new ideas on each section. It doesn't break the mold for games of the genre but titles like Andro Dunos II are the greatest example of why we love shmups so much and Picorinne knows exactly how to do them. The music is super Euro/Amiga styled. At first I didn't liked the idea but playing the game more and more it grow on me, it's a japanese crafted game with the flavor of those Euro PCs and blends quite nice in my opinion. Allister Brimble is a great musician and I like most of his work here. Also I've been waiting for an Infinos Gaiden review from you for like...years XD
Definitely, but be aware of the invisible hazards in stage 4. I just assumed I sucked, but there's stuff you can't see that will kill you under the jellyfish enemies. You can see the hazards in the Steam version.
Informative review as always. Not heard of this series. Looks and sounds pretty sweet. Couldn't spot the artifacts you mentioned, in the video at least. Maybe my eyes aren't trained enough to spot such things. Might pick this up on the PS4
I own the EU 3DS version. The stereoscopic effect is there but it's rather reserved, means it doesn't pop that much as in games like Nano Assault EX. Still nice to look at. Seems the US version hasn't shipped yet.
Awesome review, really curious to see how the Dreamcast version turns out, it's a shame some graphical issues made it in and assuming the patch makes it out it won't be on the physical editions at least it's minor and I cannot wait to play this!
Pretty caught off guard by this launching. Had this on my 3DS to-buy list for a while, but hearing it was coming to everything was pretty nice! Glad it's a fun time, though lack of local co-op and online leaderboards/continue penalty is a bit irksome. I wonder if the rights holders will allow for a reissue of the first game? Kinda stunned they didn't just throw it in with the sequel, Vasara Collection style.
Its nice now the Steam version has the game exit button on menu screen so no more hitting the escape key on the keyboard. One thing i have asked the developer for is a scan line option for the definitive 90's look Good review my friend👍

While the final official release was in 2007, Dreamcast games have been produced unofficially since 2009 via various independent publishers. It's apparently extremely easy to develop for, but only the early MIL-CD units can run them. No DC2 u fortunately.
Let's see how JoshProd butcher the Dreamcast version like they did with Battle Crust (severely downsampled/muffled sound quality, weird pixel scaling and NO high-score saving).
No matter how many reviews and footage I see, I’m just not feeling this game. Certainly not enough to shell out for the game. I’m amazed that so many people praise this game.

Music was by Allister Brimble who has been making game music since the 80s. The music in this is great generally.

Glad this turned out well. I grabbed a preorder of this on 3ds last year out of pure curiosity. Hoping it will have a 3d effect but not expecting it.

Andro Dunos 1 is getting an AES reissue and a Dreamcast port 😀

i saw the pc version was for $17 and the ps4/ps5 version for $15, and that is neat, might pick it up on sony platform tmw.
