Did not realize you did so much work to that Mack! Thanks for bringing it back! That gives me more appreciation for this channel! Been watching about a year or so.
The "B" model was the sweetest looking Mack ever built. Thermo-Dyne power..... Used to love that glowing stack at night.... Hammer down, AM radio loud (to keep awake) and stack a glowing..... Good times 😍
Emil Schultz ...me again....was wondering if you had the time could y'all plz post a vid of Rags rackin em off on the dark hill...??? plz and thk y'all ...
In 1973 to 1975, I drove a single axle B 61 Model Mack, pulling Contractors Storage and Office Trailers. Takes me back in time, later it was R Models, then U models.
I almost bought this same exact truck years ago from the same Craigslist listing, I went and looked at it and was about to give the guy the money but had no where to store it and rebuild it. I'm glad these guys got it and gave it the treatment it deserved
I had a 57 B61, Short Wheelbase Tractor, Thermodyne with a 2 Stick Transmission. The Back Of The Cab Was Curved in For Trailer Clearance. It Was A Sweet Old Truck, I Loved Shifting Gears With Both Hands, My Left arm Through The Steering Wheel , & on The Main ,& My Right Hand Shifting Between High, & Low, Good Times! , Thanks For Sharing !!
Hi Emil. I'm the guy with the '96 Dodge Ram that came over to admire your Mack a few months ago at the Sheetz at the top of Armco Hill. I just happened to come across this video just now and didn't even realize it was you at first. I was thinking, "This is just like that old Mack I saw at Sheetz!", then I saw your name and it clicked. Very nice video of your journey to getting it back on the road! Well done!
Awesome truck! I just inherited to 1948 model B Macks. Way back my father pulled the diesel engines in favor of more powerful gasoline engines and after 30+ years of sitting in his industrial yard thieves have stripped parts and broken glass but I'm hoping to restore at least one of them to a sort of resto-mod / ratrod. I have a supercharged 4-71 Detroit two stroke I think would be fun to put in it.
To those of you who never had the pleasure of driving one of these. They really do drive really well. They only had 185 HP new the one I drove I figured had maybe 100 left ! Triplex 2 stick was standard as far as I know. I pulled 45' 102" wide trailers around the city of Mobile Al with it in 1984 and it was a very very old truck THEN. ! The B-61 I drove was a barn find. ! They were not wide enough to see down the side of those 102" wide trailers so it was interesting. And when hitting bumps you had to lean your head to the right to keep from hitting the roof. But just a great little truck and I am happy to get to say I drove one.
Reminds me of my old B model .. though I should say BSX 6x6 . A beast to drive with 5 into 3 with a two speed transfer case and no power steering I never really found out a year as it was rebuilt a number of times before I got her in 1968 , cab was early mid 50s , the rest a mix of WW2 to mid 1960s
What size tubing did you use for the floors subframe? And how thick was the deck plate (diamond plate) steel that you sheeted the floor with? I am thinking about doing it to my 1971 GMC 9500 that needs a new cab floor. Thanks for your help.
Looking to get and old ride preferably a single axle to pull a fifth wheel instead of putting the money into a dully. One of these old B’s., KW or a Superliner would be awesome. .
Nice fabrication on that welding bed although I thought you were going to do a custom paint job and use that beautiful B model to pull your 5th wheel camper with.
Beautiful truck always wanted to find and restore a classic semi and car hauler trailer to haul my classic cars to shows on.....be the best way to show up at a car show bunch of classics on a period tractor n trailer
A friend of mine got a '71 Mack R-600 5+4 with a farm that he doesn't want. 378k on it... Thinking of a Mad Max 2 theme, just need an air starter for the maxidyne.
Can always count on fellow Keystone state brother to keep old Macks running! I recently saw a restored B series hauling a coal bucket out near Blairsville on 22. Man did she look sharp and will outlast and do the same work these overpriced over-electrical pieces of junk that's on the road now.
Looks like it was originally a gas job and converted to diesel .Batteries under the cab and a single stick transmission are common to gasoline trucks. Diesels are double clubbers and have 4 batteries mounted on the chassis behind the cab.
Phil Francis nope. All original. Got the papers from Mack museum. Standard oil company ordered 3 new trucks same day as this one. Original color was blue.
Make sure each tray is closed when you shift into 2nd it will smash your hand In to it if it's open use the palm of your hand your hand your hand to push it intro gear
@@95Cummins2500 hey thanks for answering Do you have an idea if the plate or decals for these size of truck have to be comercial platea or how its the DMV part ?
escorpion dice I’m running antique plates on mine. Therefore you can not work the truck or haul a load with it. I don’t abuse it. But I don’t follow that
