Just a tip... When you get tractors that have been sitting a while, what I usually do is shoot a bunch of WD-40 into the plug hole and manually turn it over a few times, just to make sure that the rings aren't stuck to the cylinder. Then i use the starter to turn it over for a few seconds to blast out the WD-40. Then reinstall the plug and try to fire it up.
1:15 The incline assistance brake simply causes resistance and make the positraction engage, same as in a regular car, if you pull and hold the hand brake release and press the emergency brake then both wheels grab instead of just one.
I have a 1987 MTD yard man with that incline assistance brake, the only thing about mine is it is an actual 5 speed rear end without varidrive. so it does help going down hills a little bit when the brakes are actually functional.
LynolsOffice, The other week, I wondered why I wasn't subscribed to you as I had seen a lot of your videos. And I'm glad I did, because you taught me how to find out when Briggs and Stratton engines were manufactured! I've always wanted to know how to do that! You're officially the coolest guy in my sub box. :)
My advice! If anyone got these Briggs and Stratton 12.5HP or 14.5HP Motor, save it!!! It's the BEST MOTOR ever made! These Motor don't die, LOL! We left our old MTD Yard Machine sitting for almost 7 years outside Snow, Rain and Sun. I started this week (July 2018) and with new gas... It fired up right away... I tell you, these Motors NEVER quits!
INCLINE (going down one WITHOUT disengaging the main drive ensures that the drive belts DO NOT LOOSEN when a brake is needed, unlike the main foot clutch/brake which disengages drive to put the brakes on LOOSENING THE DRIVE BELTS which then flop around, and as happened with mine (no incline hand-brake) the drive belts flipped off the variable drive pulley and wedged inside the variable drive itself, end of a belt and no way to fix it myself..
I think the "incline assist brake" is like the hill-assist in some cars... It's an added feature to keep the tractor from rolling backwards down a hill if you take your foot off the clutch / brake pedal, when you stop on an uphill climb. I could be wrong...
what do you do when your starter engages, but turns very slowly...kind of like when you first start cranking it in the video, but mine doesnt get faster like yours did
I've got that incline brake on a murray LT11 except it's called "hill hold." Given that the murray's clutch pedal is more like a two-way switch, I guess it's for it you want to slow down the tractor without having to stop and change gears. On the MTD, though, I wouldn't see the point of one given how the vari-drive works.
Oh yeah - wish I'd had one before going DOWN a steep incline in drive mode, then had to disengage drive to operate main brakes - with the instant result of a loose main drive belt flipping UIP off it's variable drive pulley and wedging itself into the vari-drive mechanism - end of all drive, broken belt and now I can't get it OUT of the vari-drive to replace the belt. All for the want of a simple HAND-BRAKE lever (which mine didn't have...
hi fellow quebecer, yes i know tractors are failry expensive here, but our money isnt worth mutch too. the other day i saw an ad for a suburban 12 on kijiji and the guy wanted 500$ for it not running. hes insane...
No Doubt on these Briggs & Stratton... We left an old MTD Yard Machine sitting for almost 7 years outside Snow, Rain and Sun. I started this week and with new gas... It fired up right away... I tell you, these Motors NEVER quits!
Some things are destined to become scrap. MTD... Here I thought your backyard was a junkyard, it looks really nice. Way to go in hiding all those eyesores!
The best use of that NOW (with no deck cutters) is as a tow around tractor - for towing a trailer, or small garden fertiliser spreader, and can easily be converted into a tank-equipped tractor for operating as a weed sprayer. Or - use it as this: ruclips.net/video/A9yPJieKt-I/видео.html By just adding several store trolleys on the back / behind this - (all laid over and hitched one after the other, with plastic barrels on them), and get PAID to have fun - being the driver of a kids barrel train.. NO need to mow ANY grass then see (maybe smoke some - but not advisable)
@SeberHusky Don't try to hide that you're enjoying this. ADMIT IT! It IS kind of fun to have a nemesis. Isn't this fun? Isn't it fun to have an enemy to call your own? Isn't it fun to exchange empty, hollow insults and threats between one another? Isn't it fun to "have your identity stolen"? Isn't it thrilling trying to find out who are your friends and who are your enemies? Isn't it fun fighting a fucking war? I'm serious! You have to admit that I'm adding satisfaction and suspense to your life
I have a 1987 MTD lawnflite with an incline assistance brake as far as I can tell its just a brake you can activate by hand...which has no use what so ever. if you find a REAL use for it, please let me know! :)
It's for NOT having to disengage main drive (for the main brakes) going DOWN an incline. I don't have that on my MTD which is why - when going down an incline too steep recently, my MAIN DRIVE BELT "became" too loose as the brakes were applied (thus disengaging the drive clutch mechanism loosening the V-belt itself) which then flipped up into the variable drive pulley unit and JAMMED (somehow inside the variable drive mechanism itself, completely between the two variable pulleys) as I had to brake EXTREMELY hard to stop the machine running away .!!! THAT was the last time I was able to use it, as the belt is now BROKEN as well as firmly wedged into the variable drive pulley itself (lodged extremely tightly - somewhere between the two V pulleys)
part that shit out and sell the parts on ebay. that's what im doing, i bought a craftsman lt1000 for $75 took it home and started ripping it apart. late 90's early 2000's vintage. what a cheaply made piece of crap. i also bought a pair of mtd 800 series garden tractor for 150 bucks. one is in nice condition and runs great, i put a little time and effort into it along with a 50 dollar belt and now im going to sell it. hopefully 5-600 bucks, the other one is parts
Lynol, maybe it has that "Incline Assistance Brake" lever because it's a part of MTD's Handicapped Friendly series tractors for those who have trouble using their legs. lol.
NO - it's for holding the thing from running away DOWNHILL, when the main clutch/brake should NOT be operated. My MTD does NOT have a hand lever "incline" (handbrake) lever, thus when mine ran away down a steep incline I HAD to operate the clutch to press HARD on the main brakes, and that's why my main drive belt became too loose & flipped off into the varidrive mechanism, - end of belt - end of any drive and no way to get the stuck belt "remains" out of the varidrive's mechanism ..THAT is what the hand brake lever is for - not for any invalid, who couldn't be on one anyway.. as they would not be able to disengage drive at any time..
@SeberHusky "That's exactly what you did. You went and BAWWWED on your FA page and when your friends offered to report me, you actually encouraged them to go ahead with it. You knew EXACTLY what I was capable of, yet you sent sheep to kill the wolf anyway. Their blood (if spilt) will be on your hands, Nathan!
@CharonWolf I don't even know what to think anymore, nor do I particularly care. They're both being immature at this point by keeping on going at each other and not dropping the matter. I hear that ihatefurries doesn't actually hate furries ((contradiction city)) and that he really only hates zoophiles, which is fine by me. I think they should call a truce and get over it. I sincerely doubt Seber is a zoophile and IHF should understand that his name could be considered offensive.
@SeberHusky You MUST be joking. That's taken completely out of context and anyone who reads the rest of my comments could tell that it was sarcasm. Besides, since I reverted before the officials got involved, I'm in the clear. Read the rules more carefully next time before you have your friends cry wolf. : )
Ive got an MTD 18/44 with an incline assistance brake. I always thought it helped to stop the wheel spinning if you lost grip on one tyre.
Just a tip... I love the Bob Segar's "Hollywood Nights" at the very beginning :)
1:15 The incline assistance brake simply causes resistance and make the positraction engage, same as in a regular car, if you pull and hold the hand brake release and press the emergency brake then both wheels grab instead of just one.
5:50 oh that how youre supposed to ride these things. ive been doing it all wrong !
I have to!
So have I.
i liked when he stopped and said durr is this how you use a tractor
thats a fast little mower! well at least looks it! :)
i like the little tire on the left side of the first tractor
I have a 1978 MTD Lawn Flite tractor. The only thing I do with the incline assistance brake is drifting. This kind of tractor are going really fast.
I have a 1987 MTD yard man with that incline assistance brake, the only thing about mine is it is an actual 5 speed rear end without varidrive. so it does help going down hills a little bit when the brakes are actually functional.

We had a tractor with the brake on the side like that, it was used to keep you from rolling backwards when starting off on a hill.
ive got to say, that handcart wheel fix is pretty cool.
I like the "space-saver" spare tire on the front, lol.
My friend had a wards with that incline assistance brake, we never did figure out how it worked, or what it was for

Things runs good like a champ
where did you get the trailer hitch for the caprice? I need one for my roadmaster sedan
I had basicaly the craftsman version of that tractor. I always wondered what that lever was for....
Do you still have that tractor?
Hi, may i know which jump starter will work for cold cranking 275 amps? I did not find any where exact fit battery for my Mtd LT 12.5.38 model 95 make
Put another small little wheel on the front, and make it a pulling tractor :)
what exactly does the incline brake do?
love the front tire :D
It looks so funny with that one front tire being so small
you need to have two tiny front tires...
and those mtd starters always sound rough
Could the smoke be coming from that extra brake deal? Thought it might be stuck "on".
i was mowing the lawn with my 92 craftsman and i engaged the deck i heard a pop and the thing started smoking. any idea whats wrong with it?
nice lawn tractor for how old it is cool
what do you do when your starter engages, but turns very slowly...kind of like when you first start cranking it in the video, but mine doesnt get faster like yours did
I wish I lived near you guys, I need to buy a tractor cheap so I can pull trucks.

Great vid. I love good ol lynolsoffice.
Does that damage the charging system to run it without a battery like that?
its a hobby for them, they buy/are given/trash pick/curble old Tractors, Fix them up, and Sell/give them away.
I swear those were Briggs best motors ever made.Over here in MI people still want like 300$ for one of those with a bagger.Even if its beat to hell.
Same in Quebec. I got a JD 116 38" with a Briggs opposed twin for 300$. Thing is worn out, but works,
hi fellow quebecer, yes i know tractors are failry expensive here, but our money isnt worth mutch too. the other day i saw an ad for a suburban 12 on kijiji and the guy wanted 500$ for it not running. hes insane...

Why is one tire smaller than the other
@TheTrihorn1 no i blew a gasket in the engine and replaced nothing was wrong with the belts or deck but thanks for the help
The little engine that well couldn't
I had one like this except the speed selector was on the dash. Wanted to keep it but I got to much junk lol
Also every mower I sell, the buyer insists that the headlights work. I doubt they mow at night.
Darrin same here lmao
MTD built tractors for Sears, Hechinger, and JC Penney
My mtd won't start I it ran at time i got it back the kid too disconnected the wires from the deck how do I bypass all of safety mower deck the seat
@SeberHusky I could easily do it. Just paint that head black and white over orange and repaint the eye to be blue. Should I do that?
Year?
5:50 That's how I cut my lawn :D
+9102jack XD i saw my neighbor doing it for real xD

Stuck up kids I've had bouth ATVs and lawn tractors and The tractors are just as good
You can trail ride with a lawn tractor just as good as an ATV
Some things are destined to become scrap. MTD... Here I thought your backyard was a junkyard, it looks really nice. Way to go in hiding all those eyesores!
Does dave film?

i like the motor and that is it
The tractor look like the poulan if you look the light and grill
I HATE dry rot! It's the reason I can't use my favorite lawn mower any more!
@exmarkmetroguy actually it blew a gasket, the belt's fine
fast tractor plus engine bolts are loose
You said "what the hells going on" because tire was spinning no wonder because you have to sit on the back to get traction
The best use of that NOW (with no deck cutters) is as a tow around tractor - for towing a trailer, or small garden fertiliser spreader, and can easily be converted into a tank-equipped tractor for operating as a weed sprayer.

Hi
Gage Hawke hello
Hi
@SeberHusky And where's their proof? My channel is exactly the way it's always been. There's no record of it being any other way.
The front of the tractor looks like a face.
it smells like a belt the man who takes off in 7th gear ffs
@ihatefurrys Alright, man, that's good. And I hope he doesn't.
@SeberHusky "That's exactly what you did. You went and BAWWWED on your FA page and when your friends offered to report me, you actually encouraged them to go ahead with it.
