NFS Unbound online is just... bad, where I could jump into an actual open world with friends in Heat, you have nothing except collectibles in there, might as well just have a Matchmaking system where you decide the tier and kind of race and then get matchmade with any online players looking for the same thing. The system they are using in Heat made sense in Heat, and now they added loaner cars so you don't even have anything to really work towards, except maybe hardfarming enough money to get an immidiatly mayxed out s+ tier car

Joking aside, online racing in NFS has been pretty consistently subpar for a while, and this looks almost no different. I think Burnout Paradise kinda set the bar both too high and low for online racing in general because now racing lobbies and randoms in general have all become graduates of and adopted the Paradise City driving school of wreckage racing.

I've won almost every lobby I've been in using the proper line etc with grip cars. The secret is to get more than 50 meters ahead, out of the "DRS" zone and then it's plain sailing. It's easy to create the gap with 4wd cars at launch + nos.

we need a cross-lobby-matchmaking, I hate to go into a lobby and only race against 1-2 people and 1 always leaves after the first race. either match us with ppl who want to play that speedlist or at least add bots to fill it up. I love 5-8 ppl races much more. they are fun and the amount of times I snatched victory from 3rd or 4th place made it actually amazing to race them. but rammmers, yeah they are a problem but I deal with them by either braking to waste their effort or making sure they lose more than just the position they aimed for(driving them off the checkpoint, grinding them into the wall while braking, since I don't mind where I finish).

This is why casual racing games are so hard to have fun in competitively. There's nothing wrong with wanting a casual experience, but sometimes you just want a clean race on NFS and the matchmaking does you dirty like this. I've personally given up on multiplayer on any racing game without friends because this is just the every race experience.
