Thanks, Andy. Something interesting is that zh, ch and sh have the same sound than z, c and s, but you only have "to lift" a little bit your tongue while trying to pronunciate it.
With pleasure. That's true. Take a look, then you understand why. zh ch sh has an extra "h" after z c s relatively which means you need to roll your tongue but your lips stay the same.

This Andy is just too good, even his American and British English pronounciation is just sooooooo perfect 👌 I've never seen a Chinese that's this fluent I must confess cause we have lots of Chinese here in Lagos, Nigeria, even my Chinese teachers in university of Lagos (Unilag, Nigeria 🇳🇬) aren't even close to this good! Being bilingual (french, English ) is helpful and using both pronunciation to help... As a french we struggle with H, W, th english pronunciations that's how they hear my french but combining both pronunciations for chinese was very helpful... I wanted to share one idea that I had for "ZH" I guessed this idea on my own after struggling so much with "ZH", but I am just learning so not sure if I am being helpful. What I finally realized is the "ZH" sounds is like JU in jury, I found that more helpful than other word suggestions people gave me. Hope that is helpful for people out there for "ZH." I took a phonetics course a long time ago. To me, the Chinese 'i' sounds like 'unrounded low vowel'. In most European languages /u/ is the ROUNDED low vowel. So to make the Chinese 'i', one unrounds the lips while making a 'u'.

Ok I will :) + just a quick question so I have seen many jobs in Hong Kong but I would prefer to learn mandarin than Cantonese. Will mandarin still be spoken by some people in Hong Kong? Or is it just Cantonese?

Being bilingual (french, English ) is helpful and using both pronunciation to help... As a french we struggle with H, W, th english pronunciations that's how they hear my french but combining both pronunciations for chinese was very helpful... You definitely are a great teacher and combine with the daily practice and the very helpful tips makes it easier. 谢。 新年快乐🎉

I wanted to share one idea that I had for "ZH" I guessed this idea on my own after struggling so much with "ZH", but I am just learning so not sure if I am being helpful. What I finally realized is the "ZH" sounds is like JU in jury, I found that more helpful than other word suggestions people gave me. Hope that is helpful for people out there for "ZH." Thanks fro all your great videos!!! 😊

The counter part words is very helpful!!!! The only video that really helped me
I took a phonetics course a long time ago. To me, the Chinese 'i' sounds like 'unrounded low vowel'. In most European languages /u/ is the ROUNDED low vowel. So to make the Chinese 'i', one unrounds the lips while making a 'u'.

The words " measure" and leisure are pretty good to use as well.

But l focus on teaching Chinese with communicative and cognitive approach for adults.
My 5-year-old son has learnt spoken Chinese well without any specific courses.
For written Chinese, he is going to learn it by repetition in elementary school.
I'm an online ESL teacher for Chinese students. Somehow your videos really helped me a lot to remember proper pronunciation of Pinyin. Thanks.

Namaste ! How can we understand/ distinguish words in chinese.. Like many times phrase with two or more terms is a single word in chinese. However they may have actual meanings in their individual form also.. ??

Actually we don't distiguish words or phrases by their syllables in Chinese.
For example: 见面jianmian (to meet). Actually it is a phrase not a word
@@AskAndy but then how can we learn to frame sentences.. ?? Or when we practice listening how can we extract the meanings.. ?? I am desperately trying to learn vocabulary, grammar and wrtiting each and every day for over 10 hours...
