He explained well, you need to practice. I watched this tutorial and my half project is done because I don't rush and understand things going on. So focus on it, it would take 1-2 months atleast.

Frameworks keeps changing, basics remains same. All these processes are still applicable on Any frontend and backend language. Same approach can be used to make Angular based / VUE based or any framework based projects. NEXT is very good for experienced developers, very bad for beginners.

In job we have made similar project many years back and - it feels boring to make that long project again. it depends on who you work with.. if you join a good company where you can learn new things. surely MERN stack or any web framework can be very beneficial. I generally dont code regulary but manage people. but people who worked in our team earn quite good from MERN stack.

Good question indeed. Passport is just a standard framework for applying some of practises of authentication/authorisation. If you have a web application which use many different strategies for login, like local password, fb login, google login, twitter login, etc etc.. then it helps you to make same kind of flow for all logins... also in future you may want to remove a type of login.. suppose you remove direct password login and have only social login.. it will be easy to migrate.. as flow is same... As a beginner, if you are confused that - can we only use JWT ?, yes you can. If you want only some fixed types of login.. passport is not needed. For smaller project also passport can be a overhead. Passport is just provides standard flow, so that you dont invent new type of functions..

Are these understandings of mine correct ? Sir, one doubt, can you explain why we are creating a session with res.login and sending a token also in createUser method ? As a beginner, if you are confused that - can we only use JWT ?, yes you can. If you want only some fixed types of login.. passport is not needed. For smaller project also passport can be a overhead.
Passport is just provides standard flow, so that you dont invent new type of functions..

1. In checkAuth method we are checking with req.user, when there is session-based login over server
2. In logout and loginUser we are sending/ eliminating jwt token.
