Will never understand how each and every channel commenting on Michael will never mention how he basically created the quality control test used at the end of each and every season since. It is literally one of the reasons behind Ramsay's decision to give him the 2nd offer.
Opiate addict here. I was addicted to Vicodin and anything else I could get that was a painkiller. Michaels fear is so common. When you stop the drug that you used to keep yourself going for so long, you can experience withdrawals for months, even years. At this point you are already terrified of them as you have experienced them before. The feeling is beyond uncomfortable. It feels worse than dying. There is just no way in a million years an addict can just pack up and go to work at a place like that while also stopping pills at the same time. Stopping something like that takes planning, time, and doctors, lots of all three. A lot of people think stopping it is a weekend thing, you lock yourself in a room and then you wait a few days and it’s over. Let me tell you, withdrawal lasts for years, months if you are very lucky. It’s rough and there is no easy way out.
It’s such a devastating addiction to everyone around the addict. My dad was addicted to his prescribed Opana and methadone for years. As a teen he’d make me drive him to the doctors to get Demerol shots for “migraines”. The last week of every single month he would be dopesick with withdrawals and it still disgusts me to think of him shaking on the bathroom floor and vomiting. He has thankfully been clean and sober for many years and it makes me so proud of him for overcoming all of that! He has been able to take 3 Vicodin a day (extreme hip pain, he’s had one replacement and will need the other replaced very soon) for years without abusing it. His strength and resolve to not slip back into addiction is inspiring and has helped me on my own sobriety journey 🥹 sorry for the yapping. I hope you are doing well in your recovery ❤
You’re not alone, I’m a former professional football player and I had two back surgeries and several concussions to go along with it. Not only did I had to deal with migraines from the concussions, but it also hard to walk sometimes and I have to use a cane at times. I had a fractured L2 and L3 disk in my lower back, so the doctor (Doctor James Andrews) installed a plastic balloons in between the disk because of the swelling the natural cushioning ruptured. So with all that being said, I used to take over 18 Vicodins every day 10mg and that doesn’t include somas which is a muscle relaxer. My doctor used to subscribe me 180 Vicodin a month. It wasn’t until my wife forced me to get blood work done when I found out that I was killing my liver taking so much pain medication. And I was out of my mind as well, so I went to rehab and my physician worked with my doctor and got me into a therapy plan which I use the pool to ease the pain with using Suboxone. Now I got my life back and able to travel with my wife and do things with my family. And I also work with the CFL helping players transfer to life off the field
I mean... TV might of idolized cooking as a career a bit too much. Most chefs aren't making good money. Even like a Michellin star head chef is probably making under $100k a year. Most are making $30-50k a year. Chefs are often over worked and under paid from my experience. Unless you're a chef owner or celebrity chef there's just not much money in the business. The only ones who are actually successful are the ones that capitalize on their 15 minutes of fame for being on TV and create a brand around themselves. They become the product. Too many of these chefs are focused on the food. The food doesn't matter that much for success. You need to be good, of course, but talent doesn't equate to success. It's all just basically marketing. Learn to market yourself, the food is secondary. Well... if you want money.
Season 9 seemed like such a production decision and competitive robbery given how much more consistent Will was and how much they emphasized Paul's loss towards the end of the season (making it way more of a focal point than with Danny). Clearly he's doing fine, I hope Will's doing just as good if not better.
Minor correction on S14 Meghan as you probably confused her with S20 Megan; she was never nominated at all and only committed one mistake throughout the season. She’s consider the strongest HK winner together with Dave and Tash.
I hope they bring back all the winners for a season. We got all stars with a bunch of runner ups but still a season with just winners would be fun to watch
@@JoseDiaz-qw7mg Can you tell me about it? Im curious which chefs have bad terms with Gordon now...I also dont know about any passings, could you tell me about that too?
Whether someone deserves true sympathy, is not for me or frankly anyone else to decide. I can't even bring myself to type what I was about to actually. I just think it should be made very clear that the level of trauma Michael was exposed to was beyond anyone's comprehension.
That door opening for the winner is actually kind f***ed up way to make the announcement imagine just standing there in front of that closed door as the loser lmao
pfft, what's MORE f'kd up is that BOTH door handles turn, but only ONE opens.... Imagine putting your hand on a door handle hoping the door opens, but then it tricks you that the HANDLE turns..... Messed up.

I’m sure there’s no other video in the world that mentions lake city SC that’s crazy and amazing
"Dark Side of Reality TV" had an episode on HK revealing that most of the winners don't even get to work in the kitchen in one of Ramsay's new restaurants. They're just there to take pictures with guests and be the face for social media purposes, and nothing more. Many just took the prize money and went their separate ways. The "prize" of running your own kitchen and working with or under Ramsay is complete BS. It was very sad to hear.
Although Michael has been thru a lot a food truck can go along way most importantly it gives him hope for all he lost. I say instead of a go fund me we plan a buy out, and buy all his inventory for at least a few weeks till he gets traffic or tag a creator and have them review/ critique his food which if he was on Hell’s Kitchen is a no brainer of how good is food is. HELP THIS MAN OUT. Havnt done research on where he is now, but if someone is interested LETS DO IT. And give him that spotlight again
As someone who has a twin little waiting on them…I can assure you..three years later and the him shaped hole where my heart used to be is still very raw. I have accommodated myself around this crushing saddness however..it does break through at random times. I understand his spiral but it was never an option for me. I’m glad he corrected his frequency and righted his life.
Hey, same here, except he would be 4 years old now(almost 4.5).... I don't really have a point except to share that yes, i too (obviously) struggled and thank you for your comment... it's nice to know I'm not alone.
The Savoy apparently made it clear they didn't think Holi was appropriate for their brand, likely due to her conduct on the show. Therefore they wouldn't sign off on the work permit authorisation...she basically had no job to go to, not the producer's fault or something they could control.
I've had a restaurant with my father when I was much younger, had an education on chef culinary arts for over 4 years which kickstarted my love for making food. That is until the restaurant closed and I had enough experience in other restaurants as a head chef and even fast food restaurants. That love turned into hatred, and today I only cook for my family and nobody else. Going this path requires a lot of discipline and you will face a lot of "customers" that are straight up loopty in the head, even working force. I do not regret leaving that industry, it's horrible in my personal experience. If you out there see this comment and are struggling with your profession as a chef or overall cook take in consideration you need to be romantically and engaged with it, being in love with this profession is not enough. It's okay to leave it if you have to, many of us did.
I have had multiple back surgeries and have two sets of metal rods that didn’t snap but still left me in permanently disabled and in pain 24/7. I am prescribed morphine that I take twice daily to help manage the pain and I will be on it the rest of my life. I do not understand why he wasn’t just given the medication if he truly needed it?
Michael's story is crazy. Drug addiction, winning hell's kitchen and opening his own restaraunt, losing his child and getting divorced, becoming homeless, robbing a paharmacy and going to jail, and then getting out and turning his life around AGAIN to get married and have a kid. I hope hes doing alright now, he was a great chef and seemed like a troubled, but great guy.
Many of these Chiefs was not healthy to begin with. Many are overweight. You add high stress environment and you are getting a heart attack early. Some do drugs too. I mean legal drugs they get from their favorite doctors. 🤨
I hardly watch TV or social media. I know of this show and I believe some of the chefs were on the news when they were voted off or won. It is nice to hear your video abou the updates of the show chefs. Sorry to hear about the deaths. You spoke very nicely and it's a well thought out documentary.
People who live in constant pain are not “addicted”, they’re “dependent”. I had back surgery and ended up crippled. After a year the pain was so bad it dominated my life worse than any drug could. It’s pain killers that have allowed me to have something of a “life”. When you don’t abuse them they actually DO help.
This is terrible. Every single one of these chefs are promised a high level career as a head chef and if they get a job at all they're never treated Asa real head chef. Then most get to work at all.
Many still need training to run a business. It requires math. Many Chefs are not good at that. That's why they are on the show. Christina is the only successful chef in all of the seasons. She trusted her skills and grew. Many of these Chefs are not trying to grow to be the best. They just want the money and give little effort.
It baffles me because I'd rather live anywhere else than there lol. Dunno why people are so fixated on hot weather and beaches, I'd rather snowy mountains any day!
Those painkiller are so shitty. Had to take those for a severe neck injury and I noticed quickly that my body wanted them so much after a week. I stopped. I'm not an addict and I hate when chemicals have so much effect on the mind. Pain was much better than those shits.
@@JrueThrondsen I'm autistic. I can "scan" and feel how chemicals change the flow of my body and mind cuz I have an ntense self-awereness skill. I just took Dilaudid for 3 days and I stopped. It was clearly a high level dope for me. And that skill made me immune to it quick. I could still fully feel the pain so it was useless 🤷♂️ I had my funny times when I was young, acid, weed, MDMA, speed and everything. I just lost interests, it was like a "why drugs are bad?" thing. Got my answer and had tons of fun searching for it. That Dilaudid is heavy stuff 😲
its interesting to see how many of these chefs end up successes and with thriving businesses and careers. defintely a better success rate then kitchen nightmares but maybe that is just due to the format

Will never understand how each and every channel commenting on Michael will never mention how he basically created the quality control test used at the end of each and every season since. It is literally one of the reasons behind Ramsay's decision to give him the 2nd offer.
Enjoyed the vid. This is one of those topics I've wondered about on my own time, but never went about looking into it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
His strength and resolve to not slip back into addiction is inspiring and has helped me on my own sobriety journey 🥹
sorry for the yapping. I hope you are doing well in your recovery ❤
Omg i never knew about this. This is so sympathetic. I hope everyone gets chance to become clean and live normal life
You’re not alone, I’m a former professional football player and I had two back surgeries and several concussions to go along with it.
There is no winner more iconic than Christina! Just look at the trust GR puts in her for running his empire.
Yup. The only successful chef in the show. Majority of them couldn't handle the heat.
Addiction is SO very common in restaurant work. Long hours, hard work, crappy situations.
@@Pixie桜 or, you need to pay the bills.
@@Pixie桜 Do you live in realty? Sometimes to pay the bills, you gotta take a job that SUCKS and is stressful. What are you, 12?
@@Pixie桜 BOO. HOO.
@@AhNee”what are you, 12?” proceeds to say boo hoo, you can’t even make up that type of brainrot lmao
If you're wondering what the master chef junior kids are up to all of them are continuing in their acting careers.
😂😂
Addiction to anything is devastating
Imagine that honor to get invited into Ramsey's London kitchen.. but as an addict i COMPLETELY understand it. It takes over our lives.
I was hoping there would be an updated video of this soon. Every other one I found was outdated. Thanks for making this. It is well-done. ^^
My pleasure glad you enjoyed.
Season 9 seemed like such a production decision and competitive robbery given how much more consistent Will was and how much they emphasized Paul's loss towards the end of the season (making it way more of a focal point than with Danny). Clearly he's doing fine, I hope Will's doing just as good if not better.
Will had NO business losing season 9. I don’t even remember Will getting yelled at
Christina rocks, glad shes doing well
Minor correction on S14 Meghan as you probably confused her with S20 Megan; she was never nominated at all and only committed one mistake throughout the season.
She’s consider the strongest HK winner together with Dave and Tash.
From "grilled watermelon" to winner of Hell's Kitchen S13.
Same thing happened to me a Mike, so happy he's managed to keep going and to get clean, our kids are in a better place mate and we'll see em again ❤
Just so you know, 3 chefs from season 2 have passed away. Tom died earlier this year
Also, you said Heather moved to Long Island and then said she moved to Port Jeff. It's all 1 move because Port Jeff is on Long Island
I know Alex is the most recent winner, but easily one of the strongest winners ever. So likable and so good at his craft🎉
Yes, you really know somebody from a scripted reality television series, are you really that stupid? It's amazing how dumb the general public is.
I hope they bring back all the winners for a season. We got all stars with a bunch of runner ups but still a season with just winners would be fun to watch
Yo?
not every winner is still alive, and not every winner alive is in good terms with Ramsay…
Wouldn't work. Many winners are not doing well in life or dead.
@@JrueThrondsen wait which winners are dead?
@@JoseDiaz-qw7mg Can you tell me about it? Im curious which chefs have bad terms with Gordon now...I also dont know about any passings, could you tell me about that too?
I think a season of the runner's up would be cool. It would be nice to see someone who came in second get the brass ring.
That is a really good idea!
Tasha was always my favorite. Great attitude winning spirit, never in the bottom, great relationship with all the other chefs. Love her! ❤
Of all I guess only Christina Wilson is the most successful of all Hell's Kitchen winners.
Blue haired chef also
Did you watch the video? Rock Harper is very successful.
True
Man. I hope Michael rebounds stronger than ever, dude went through hell
Salute Rock Harper! ❤ You're doing well King 🤴🏿 👏🏼 🙌🏽 ❤️
I've always had a soft spot for La Tasha. Glad she's doing well.
Whether someone deserves true sympathy, is not for me or frankly anyone else to decide.
I can't even bring myself to type what I was about to actually. I just think it should be made very clear that the level of trauma Michael was exposed to was beyond anyone's comprehension.
Man, every day, we should all be thankful we are not suffering from chronic backpain, tempting us to resort to stronger and stronger drugs
So basically Christina Wilson and Michelle are the only ones that still working for gordon
Christina Wilson, the legend
That door opening for the winner is actually kind f***ed up way to make the announcement imagine just standing there in front of that closed door as the loser lmao
pfft, what's MORE f'kd up is that BOTH door handles turn, but only ONE opens.... Imagine putting your hand on a door handle hoping the door opens, but then it tricks you that the HANDLE turns..... Messed up.
Unfortunately a death of a child can kill a marriage.
Doing drugs doesn't help either.
So sad. I hope he is still in recovery. You CAN do it! Best Wishes.
Thank you for this!❤️ As a fan of hells kitchen its good to know whats going on with the winners 🏆 should do one about the runners up!!! 😊
Great idea!!
Missing your kids first bday and then divorcing your husband for your work buddy is so fucked up
Yeah she’s disgusting
I was at the school in lake city miss Latasha came to, I was about 14 at the time I’d say it was awesome meeting her, it’s amazing how my tiny little hometown is mentioned because this is where she’s from. I’m sure there’s no other video in the world that mentions lake city SC that’s crazy and amazing
It's amazing how it seems like the "prize positions" aren't what they cut out to be
"Dark Side of Reality TV" had an episode on HK revealing that most of the winners don't even get to work in the kitchen in one of Ramsay's new restaurants. They're just there to take pictures with guests and be the face for social media purposes, and nothing more. Many just took the prize money and went their separate ways. The "prize" of running your own kitchen and working with or under Ramsay is complete BS. It was very sad to hear.
Thanks again, Sacklers!!!
Thanks For Sharing!
My pleasure!
Subbin to ur channel. Keep it up. I like the straightforward, well researched narration. :)
Thanks so much! Welcome aboard
sucks that Chef Jason Santos wasn't on this list, even tho he was runner up on season 7, hes a permanent chef on HK now
5:27 i heard your cat meow and I totally thought it was mine😂
Sorry, where? I replayed this over and over and never heard a cat....
It is honestly depressing how most chefs just went "okay you gave me a year of fun and clout so i go live my life elsewhere now"
The Savoy apparently made it clear they didn't think Holi was appropriate for their brand, likely due to her conduct on the show. Therefore they wouldn't sign off on the work permit authorisation...she basically had no job to go to, not the producer's fault or something they could control.
Was it because Holi was flirting with jay. It seemed like a waste thay should have had jay win the prize instead
I’m very sorry about his struggles…He seems like a great guy
Michael's story is crazy. Drug addiction, winning hell's kitchen and opening his own restaraunt, losing his child and getting divorced, becoming homeless, robbing a paharmacy and going to jail, and then getting out and turning his life around AGAIN to get married and have a kid. I hope hes doing alright now, he was a great chef and seemed like a troubled, but great guy.
I find it wild how many people ended up dying. Crazy how the world works.
Many of these Chiefs was not healthy to begin with. Many are overweight. You add high stress environment and you are getting a heart attack early. Some do drugs too. I mean legal drugs they get from their favorite doctors. 🤨
Recently found this channel love the way you cover these and go into details so well! Gonna start binging all your video!
Hey Noah, welcome aboard! Thanks so much for the kind words.
I hate the way the last 3 finalists from the 1st season treated the lady who ended up being the 4th (3rd runner-up).
Happy to see Scott is doing good, one of my favorite winners.
Damn. I didn’t know Michael went through all that. On another note, I did eat at red rock and green valley since I live in Vegas. Pretty good
From what I've read, Chef Christina Wilson was so hungry for sucess even before going to Hell's Kitchen. That attitude wanted Gordon to keep her.
To be fair, Russell did get screwed by his team. They hated him and gave 30% effort max.
Cooking is a team sport. If you are such a d that no one is willing to give you more than 30% there, you will fail as a head chef.
@@christophh3233 yup. Russell I can tell is a nightmare to work with off the show.
To be fair, if everyone around you hates you, it’s probably you.
Ive been there too Michael, it gets better ❤
Thanks for sharing your experience, Shawn.
Damn that's so crazy
I hardly watch TV or social media. I know of this show and I believe some of the chefs were on the news when they were voted off or won.
It is nice to hear your video abou the updates of the show chefs.
Sorry to hear about the deaths.
You spoke very nicely and it's a well thought out documentary.
Thanks for the nice comment and glad you liked it!
God help michael overcome his addiction, he was one of my favorite chefs.
Gordon adopted Christina basically. Amazing
The only successful chef in the show in all of the seasons.
I worked for 20 years in the kitchen and Ended up with mild effusion of the knee and I'm on pain medication to get around
Michelle will also be the red team's sous chef this coming season
Michael is a favorite of mine. Was sorry to hear about all of his struggles. I Pray his fight is not in Vain. Never give up. ❤️
HK1 sadly never opened. We had the HK1 coming soon sign on the old Golden Coral in my home town for years but it never opened.
Did anybody notice how many of these people are either from Florida or end up moving to Florida?
Good point! I wonder why...
It baffles me because I'd rather live anywhere else than there lol.
Dunno why people are so fixated on hot weather and beaches, I'd rather snowy mountains any day!
@@Iceman10000 Same with the snow. Can't wait until winter here in Edmonton Canada..
"david felt he was seen as more than a line cook"
well no shit, he was given a line cook position.
Those painkiller are so shitty. Had to take those for a severe neck injury and I noticed quickly that my body wanted them so much after a week.
I stopped. I'm not an addict and I hate when chemicals have so much effect on the mind.
Pain was much better than those shits.
Wow, that is intense. I can't even imagine. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Good thing you noticed that pain killers are the cause of people drug addiction out here. Get off them quick. It usually starts with an injury.
I could still fully feel the pain so it was useless 🤷♂️
I had my funny times when I was young, acid, weed, MDMA, speed and everything. I just lost interests, it was like a "why drugs are bad?" thing.
Got my answer and had tons of fun searching for it. That Dilaudid is heavy stuff 😲
5:03 "He knew that he had to get back to his main passion in life was, cocaine." XD
Lol
Michael walked through hell but managed to pull himself out of it. So proud and happy for him!
Michael Wray would be such a good movie
Drug testing a chef is like testing Ocean water for salt
Hope more people can see this video and help out Michael with his food truck!! I feel so terrible for him.
its interesting to see how many of these chefs end up successes and with thriving businesses and careers. defintely a better success rate then kitchen nightmares but maybe that is just due to the format
