You've gotta wonder just how much worse Dave's injury got after pushing himself so much
well he came back for black jacket vs previous winners in season 11
He deserved to win the moment he pulled together and did everyone’s job in the kitchen that one service. He was on everything. That made him worthy of wielding the mjolnir of the kitchen.
27:55 in is the point I’m referencing. He helped other injured dude doing the risotto. Did the lamb. Did the steak. Did every single role and was on pace running around the kitchen with ONE ARM.

it's quite alarming seeing someone like dave--a person who had no use of his left hand--not only never getting nominated, but also advancing to the finale and eventually winning. it's so amazing how he managed to navigate this hectic kitchen and environment. it's already hard enough with all working limbs and perfect weight balance. i couldn't imagine how hard it is with a immobilized limb. it would make the entire thing ten times worse, i would think. dave made it look like it was simply second nature.

As the legend tells it, Gordon Ramsay would swing a hammer to Dave's hand every couple of weeks just to keep up his level of quality
Awful, but funny
That injury was probably the best thing that could have happened to Dave. He simply refused to give up. Ever. And that's what pushes him to prove himself time and time again. No one else had to deal with that so they got complacent. Adversity builds character.
Great take, couldn't have put it better.
its the adrenaline rush that gave him the boost to the finales
From the Bible, in Romans 5:3-6 - "Therefore brothers and sisters, rejoice in your suffering, because suffering produces perseverance. Perseverance produces good character, and good character produces a hope that never disappoints because it is the love of God poured out on your heart by the Holy Spirit who dwells within you."
@@waltzer0913adrenaline rush? Bruh, this was multiple days, weeks, months.. a simple adrenaline rush won't cut it, most regular people would quit crying day 1 with the mentality most people have nowadays
Dave was the only contestant that literally and figuratively won single handedly
Dave was one of my all-time favourite winners. He was an absolute BEAST in the kitchen, and the amount of work he was doing and running around with one hand put most of the other chefs to shame. Definitely the worthy winner
" i picked figs with fish and we won" if that isn't the greatest culinary flex i don't know what is
The very second Dave talked about how devastated he felt about the thought of leaving, I knew we needed to support and protect this guy until the end of time. The amount of determination, will power and passion the guy had was unreal.
So many years later, it is not a secret why the majority of the fanbase adore Dave so much.

Dave was his only worst critic. He deserved the win more than anybody else who went on the show ever. Well deserved 👏👏
What I love about dave is not once has he said "I can't do this". Rather the opposite he insist to his team that he handle it, it's difficult and may need more work but he can handle it. Instead of slowing down he tries to useful in anyway he can. He was never arrogant about his talent, but he is confident that he is a chef. The moment he does something wrong, he feels irritated in a way "i can't stay like this i need to change and be better". He hates no one, but idolizes his superiors base on skill. You can just see the passion of a chef in his eyes. Man deserved to win by all means.

Shame that when Dave arrived for his head chef position they told him it was only actually for a line chef spot
Unfair!
I think that was the catalyst to Gordon to make the winner the head chef of his restaurants, not sure on others but i think after this season obly 1 or 2 seasons had a prize not under gordon.
That happens every time, actually. They usually word the show to say “a head chef” and not “THE head chef.” They still get $250,000, so it’s not like a total loss.
