One big reason is that they don't rely on any technology or modern equipment to guarantee their success. Bluegrass is an all acoustic band. No electronics except some mic ups.
Fantastic job guys! Now THAT is the setup where the music sounds the best, not playing through mics or a sound system. Just standing around in a group, no electricity, everyone showing courtesy by lowering their volume when somebody is taking a break.

wonderful musicianship. who needs a studio, producer, recording and mixing engineer when you've got competent players who know how to listen to each other and self-mix with nothing but a stereo mic in a conducive space? And I never listen to bluegrass. Loved it. bravo!
