  • I just got the Mabett speaker pods for my Bronco - they're designed for 6.5" speakers, but I ended up installing some Kicker 6.75" speakers, which fit perfectly - the quality of the pods seems really good, built nicely and fit great - and the sound output from the bigger speakers in these enclosures is absolutely worth it!

    Awesome video with perfect instructions. Love that there is a big difference in sound. So glad to see the size comparison at the end. I have some 6.5 phillips that have been collecting dust in the garage that I never got the motivation to put into my fusion. I think Ill use those and save money on going with new speakers. I want to swap the stock subwoofer with a kicker as well. Buckle up buttercup did a good video on that swap. Cant wait for my 2024 to come in. I did all 4 speaker on my 22 base before it was totaled (I was not at fault) after only 5 months :(

    Are we supposed to have the wire plugs included in the pod package? I just opened mine and started the install, and I don't see any with mine.

    I just did the install with 6.75 in the Mabett. Fits perfect. However, I’m assuming you are working with a soft top. It’s impossible to remove and install the Mabett without releasing the rear hard top panel, which means removing the front and mid panels. It’s possible to remove the stock pods, but very difficult. Impossible to install the Mabett pods unless you go in through the top.

      some people have used a stubby torx to fit in between the rail and the top

    I didn't catch as to whether or not you have the B&O Upgrade on your Bronco.

    Can you make a shorts or share a video on how to do the wiring? First timer here and I am stuck on wiring my new Kickers to the pod. Any tips on this is much appreciated!

    Great video. I've been thinking of getting some bigger speakers for the back of my bronco because even the B&O lacks decent sound back there. What sound system do you have? I wonder if the kicker speakers will still sound better than the B&O. Also, did you consider adding batting to the box along with the acoustic matting?

      thanks - I also have the B&O system - the stock speakers are garbage, this is a huge improvement. I did put some sound deadening mat inside the pods, didn't think about poly fill though.. probably couldn't hurt!

      @@calgecko Awesome! Yeah, even the B&O is underwhelming, particularly the back speakers. While the stereo wasn't why I wanted the Lux, I was expecting more and this seems like a pretty reasonably priced upgrade.

      @@fretless05 definitely. I replaced ALL the stock B&O speakers with JL Audio and Kicker... very happy with the results. Also installed the Stinger tailgate mounted sub and 500w amp for that, which was a bit more involved.

      @@calgecko I saw another video where someone put a pair of JL Audio marine speaker pods in the back of their Bronco. It looked good and from what I could tell with RUclips compression, sounded great, but those are crazy expensive. I'm looking for modest gains for a reasonable price. Mabbet and Kicker seems to fir that bill!

      If u are looking for a reasonable price , keep in mind those mabbet pods are $200 a pair

    I’ve heard others say the signal to the rollbar is still limited to “tweeter” range. Have you noticed a good performance from the new speakers despite that limited signal?

    • @calgecko
      @calgecko  Год назад

      yes, and I think that only applies to the non-B&O stereo... these speakers made a big improvement ini overall sound

      I did use 6.75" and many others have as well .. they fit with no mods (at least the Kickers that I used did)
