Turn your phone's hotspot on and connect the radio's wifi to your phone and download your apps to the radio,or use your home's wifi dont forget to check your storage capacity for the radio
7:20 Blue/Antenna(usually modern cars with power antenna triggered by powering on the radio)
Key1/2 is for steering controls
Brown/Back is for back up camera
This actually a very good unit but we found out the radio output for the speakers isn’t a clean signal but the rca put puts are amazingly clear so if you use a 4 channel amp this radio sounds amazing!! I’ve had 2 people test this stereo out.

Look up how to be a moderator on your own phone and hard wire mirror link to your phone. Car play is blocking you for "safe driving" and limiting you on what shows up on your double din. If done correctly, you can mirror link you phone and everything that's on your phone screen will be on the double din screen.

Check to see if the hondata app is listed in CarPlay, which is in settings on your phone. That’s where you can customise what is shown on the CarPlay list screen. Great video and the install looks mint!
This is a classic "use what you have" video, good work.
The Hondata the way you would get it to work is to screen mirror it so basicly what shows on your phone would show on the radio screen

The ones the said keys is for steering wheel controls back is reverse lite positive input for camara
If hondata has an android app; connect your stereo to wifi(internet) and install the android app directly onto the stereo.
Then use the stereo to connect to hondata via bluetooth.
Then use the phone to connect with car play via USB instead of bluetooth.... and you should be able to get the best of both worlds.
Hey; fYI; im leaving the southbay in the next two days or so. I took a good high paying job over in Wisconsin.... so no longer gonna be a local homie. 100k+/year was too much to pass up considering the cost of living up there.

You can use some rubber tubing to fill the gap around the carbon , just slice it down the center and slide it on the carbon bezel
im only about 12 minutes in but you can turn your hotspot on your phone on connect that to the radio and download what you need

your install turned out clean af. For wifi, try connecting to the mobile hotspot on your phone to use the internet.... also that thing has a whole ass DSP inside of it .... theres so much you can do with it
Certain apps won't work with CarPlay because the developer of the app did not make the app available for CarPlay.
In other words, the developer of the app (hondata) needs to design the app to work with CarPlay.

You have to have the gps antenna Connected for it to find the wifi and make it work. I have the similar double din and it wasn’t working until I connected it
Dana, look up MagicBox it will let you screen mirror your iphone to your carplay enabled head unit.

You won’t see the app on the applecarplay screen, but you can see it on the main menu of the stereo. It’s android OS, so you can definitely do it.
I just thought of something that could help you. I watch a variety of RUclips channels including Harley ones. with the bikes when they put in a new radio there is a part that you can unplug that makes it android then plug in a different one making the radio Apple. They buy the part from Amazon because at the dealership it`s around $280.00 for the part and flashing the CPU so the radio works, but with Amazon, it`s $10.00 with no flashing needed.
Static, you should have a wifi antenna that plugs in, if you have that in, drive to mcdonalds and park in the spot closest to the drive thru , you should be able to get the free wifi signal in the car , then just download the apps. Every mcd has free wifi. Thats how I update my unit
You maybe able to screen mirror your phone while connected to the double din or get a kick ass phone mount... I really like how you were able to add the carbon fiber that looks clean af

Have you tried using the hot spot off your phone to connect the radio to the web so that you can DL the Hondata app
That thing slid in there first try like it was made for it, can’t b mad at that. Rather fill in extra space then have to cut too much that it look nasty. Might have to grab one of these if it works out for ya. None of my stuff has radios either lol

Key 1 and key 2 are normally for steering wheel controls.
Also ur unit is not big and chunky because it’s a media player. The older big double din units have a slot to install a cd or dvd. No one really uses cds anymore.

that stereo is kinda meh on the internal amp, distorts well before max volume...but it seems to shine with an amp ...full output with no distortion
