Cheers. I learnt heaps from your sounder course i purchased! I When I was spraying boat at servo the pressure from water lifter fuel cap and I didn't notice. I hope not too much water got in. I'll check filters, run some 98 fuel and add STA-BIL marine through it. Fingers crossed
I fill mine up on the trailer at the gas station, woth ethanol fuel I always put the ethanol shield stabilizer in it, well worth it. Some marine gas here in the states is ethanol free, but most vehicle stations have ethanol, turns to green junk way too fast
This was a good video and I learned quite a bit. If you will allow just a bit of constructive criticism, you didn’t really cover any symptoms. A lot of people put that in the search field, and because it’s in your title, stop to look. Again, the information in your video is important, but I hope in the future it will be more helpful to me & other viewers looking for specific signs.
Most of us would have to try and limp home, what choice do we have? I have heard a few mils of F10 or Fuel Doctor in the tank stops this kind of problem.
I run unleaded and don’t run any additives but our fuel is pretty clean here in Australia. Best talk to your outboard mechanic as there are many variables.
I just bought my first boat 88 ranger 393v with a 87 Johnson V6 150 2 stroke (took the vro off) was thinking about getting a separator living here in humid Florida. I use stabil but I just want to make sure I protect my investment as best I can. What are your thoughts? I dont let my boat sit, i take her out every week. Non ethanol isnvery expensive so im forced to run 87 and i add stabil
Will a water remover remove water if any water got in during high winds in Glastron GT 180. And where would the water trap be in this boat? Will Iso-heet remove a little water?
Hi, water can only get in via the fuel tank and the trap should catch it. Just have to check regularly to make sure you havent got bad fuel from the servo. Water traps are generally on the transom or inside motor wells. Its not a good idea to mount them on the inside of the boat.
Hi sorry just found this. We had no water taken in. I disconnected and drained the bottom of the tank into half gal canning jars and let that settle 2 days. No water present. Disconnected the small hose from the tank to the motor. to evaluate.
Help!! I've got a 2001 25HP Evinrude, 4 stroke, 3 cyl. Engine oil temp was going off, replaced sensor and also new water pump because it was worn. Now when running water enters all three carbs??? Oil temp light still comes on but takes much longer. Why is water flowing into and overflowing all 3 carbs?
Sorry i havent used mercury personally. maybe your local dealer or a google search can help you with that but generally most engines will have one on the engine after the main fuel/ water separator.
You don't replace it mate you just unscrew the tap and let the water out. The cartridge is for the fuel and you replace that about every 6 months depending on how much you use it. Your service team at the local dealership for your motor brand will be able to answer that.
I change my fuel water separator every spring, and check the clear bowl on bottom of filter, just about every time I go out, and drain when it is at least half full. I ran into some problems on an older bass boat that didn't have a fuel water separator on it, and I had to install one myself. I would never go without one, especially in a 2 stroke engine where the crankcase is lubricated by the premix in the gas, and gets washed away by the water in the gas. Not a good outcome. I know!
I have an 2017 etec that emits steam. Is this because water is going through the motor? I have a fuel water separator with the clear bowl. Is the bowl supposed to fill up and then water starts building up from the bottom as its being filtered out? I've never noticed a clear line of water in the clear bowl so I don't know if my tank has water in it or not.
mavros777 best take it to a mechanic as it’s impossible to get a diagnosus from a description. A mechanic can see it running and determine the problem if it has one.
I have a 150 hp mercury, just found that its too late and water has gone through the system. Pulled the carbs, they were full of water. Plugs even have water droplets on them when I pulled them. So far I have the carbs and plugs pulled. I'm cleaning and rebuilding the carbs, so they will be clean and dry, but will having the plugs out for a bit be enough to dry up any water in the cylinders? is there anything else I should do? I hope I havent ruined the thing. (PS water filter was FULL of water when I pulled it off too, 😖)
Today I was out and drove tube with my friends and when we drove for a little while we desided we should cool the engine down, but when we tried to start it again ans it wouldn't start. We drove it a little bit hard and we took some high speed turns and it caused water to enter the engine. We tried to start it many times but it just wouldn't start. The engine is 30 hp mercury and its very new. Hope you could help me:)
Well guys 90 older Johnson/17ft swamp boat...welded up like a 30gallon tank up front/part of the deck etc...got that hydraulic jack plate on the back too. but that sucker killed on step last time took it out...spinning but not firing...think we need to compression test them cylinders? it was running good...shoot some cylinder treatment down the cylinders?...or that tank got water? or can the motor pull from that line all the way up front/air?? no in line pump/bulb?...hell just guessing...

You're a dead set legend Moody, heaps of great tips, think you know more than the yammy bloke. Top work
Big Mnumzane haha. I doubt that but thanks for the kind words!

Really useful video, thanks!
Good direct information. Thanks.
Awesome tips man, great channel I just subbed :)
Born Again Boating thanks mate.
@@RyanMoodyFishing thank you for responding! Cheers!
Good info. Can you make a video for emergency fixes like neautral switch failures or cut off switch failures.

should i add and fuel additives to my fuel, what fuel to ru in an outboard.
I run unleaded and don’t run any additives but our fuel is pretty clean here in Australia. Best talk to your outboard mechanic as there are many variables.
Great thing I live in tully

How many filters on mercury outboard motor

mavros did you find out what was causing the steam, my Yamaha is doing the same thing.

Don't listen to him. I would just do lots and lots of research.

Hi Robert, best bet is to take it to a mechanic mate.
Mercury voids warranty if you use ethanol
No I don't use that kind
