This makes me cry so hard: real people coming together and singing. Perfectly imperfect, which means its real. I love the soloist's nerves and his reaction at the end. He'll remember this for life. Gareth Malone is a superhero of music.
This show warms my heart and gives me faith in man kind. We can come together, letting our own light shine while basking in the glow of the one next to us.
Every time I heard this song in the past, it always reminded me of 9/11. Now I have a better memory of it. Thanks South Oxhey and Gareth for giving me an inspiring memory of this song.
Stunning considering they had never sung in a choir. Wow! And it's wonderful to see people grow in confidence like the boy who sang the solo in the beginning. His mom is so proud at the end!!! :D
Absolutely stunning! Everyone did a fantastic job and should be very proud. I'm not familiar with this particular song but it's now my new favorite. Thank you Gareth for your wonderful uplifting and inspirational show!
I'm probably one of the very few Americans who like "The Choir" and Gareth's approach to music. Watch it religiously, even though it is from last season!
Ryan Scarola I'm also American, and I absolutely ADORE Thr Choir. Gareth is my hero not only for what he has been able to accomplish, but for the love he has for choral music, and the love and dedication he shows to every person in every choir he's worked with. I would give anything to meet him in person.
What a wonderful effort and daunting task. Good on him. Perhaps in another generation, there will be a purer sound and more children signing up for music lessons. In the meanwhile, a great start!
@ryanscarola - I watch "The Choir" too, and I'm from the States (SC). I really enjoy BBC programming, and I feel that American programming could benefit from reality shows like the one we are discussing here on youtube.
Charming sounds, EVERY ONE A STAR, compared with the modern rubbish that makes my poor old spirit go into a nose dive, THEN SUDDENLY WHAM BANG "THERE WAS GARETH" maxthevid is humble before you, Dear Sir I salute you, on behalf of your choirs, I thank you. you will never receive more sincerely felt adulation To your Mum and Dad You Lucky People.

What an exceptional and amazing person he is, the gratitude and respect that he shows his choir is beautiful.
These folks bring tears to the heart of this old plumber :-)

The blond woman on the right from 0:30-0:38 makes my day. I love her head movements and expressions
I wept. Absolutely beautiful.
Very enjoyable, from a kiwi who was born in Hertfordshire.

Amooo todo lo que hacessss Gareth Malone!!! we miss ur programs!
Great job Mikey. Man that took some guts. Great job everybody. Love the show.
why make rude comments about the soloist? he sings it well, and who cares if he's gay or whatever else you assume. enjoy the music in peace
I just found out about Gareth Malone (I don't live in a cave, only in France) and what he does is just amazing!
@ryanscarola I feel you! I feel like I am the only american too, but then again I am totally obsessed with bbc and british shows in general lol

@hubbabubbabubble damn you're right. This is how music feels.
@aniroc15 - It is great. Did you see the season finale of season two last night, from "Boy's Don't Sing"?
1:37 AHHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
The guy who sings at the beginning, is one of the students in the first episode of which went to China ...? good job :)
Anyone know where i can get the sheet music for the soprano bit? I have to learn it and I keep forgetting the notes...cheers
@nekal11 haha she scared me when I first saw her and that was all I could concentrate on.
You need to use tall vowels

@bobert551 well thats not very nice!
@DannyD81 - Yup. The U.S. has a lot to learn about the finer things in life.
a little fast tho
Brilliant! Gareth Malone is Britain's champion, not Simon Cowell
I think they should've worked on intonation for a couple more weeks. or months.
Hey probably gay guy who has the opening solo: Nice work, really cool.
he was good, but im surprised Gareth couldnt have found a better guy to do the first solo :/
