  • Music is, above all, emotion. Emotion in its purest form. Although that emotion is transmitted in many ways, perhaps the one that leaves the greatest emotion in the soul is the one that comes through the voice. Throughout history, there have been some singers who have left a very important mark in the history of music, both for their influence, legacy, talent, transcendence and success. Today, we have decided to make a TOP 10 of the greatest female singers, taking into account the requirements listed above. We hope that your favorite singer has her respective appearance in the video, as well as we hope that you will be entertained throughout the video. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel and leave your opinion in the comment box. Thank you very much.

Are these the best singers or those who made the most money? I would find it difficult to list only ten of the best, but I would have to drop Madonna. I enjoyed her music in the 80s and 90s, but not after that. I believe she is more of a top entertainer. I think I also disagree with the places you have given some of the ladies. For example, you placed Madonna but put Mariah in 10th place?

There are many fabulous singers, each special in their own right . No one could really agree with the 10 best female singers of all time. Like Rachelle Ferrell not all great female singers have made it commercially. And I’m sure there are some out there who have never been recorded. It’s in the ears of the beholden. Bless all of you who sing and grace us with your soul.

Dear Deborah, you are oh so right. There are so many unsong heros of the lirics art( I use the term loosely) music is as vast as the universe and subject to feelings and interpretation. Of course some singers may have a greater range than others but this doesn't paint the whole picture. In this era, we are blessed with device and technology which allows us to put to posterity phenomenal recordings. However when I listen to new talents on television shows I am astounded by the beauty, power and talent of these prodigies. Let's be greatful for the variety and availability. God bless.

No she doesn't have the highest octave range, but neither do a lot of singers. As well as being the best selling female music recording artist in history still. Deal with it.

Though I accept that Madonna is successful as a singer, great is a quality that I do not associate with her voice, whether her early songs like "Holiday" or her more recent songs. Her cover of "American Pie" was not that appealing and "Beautiful Stranger" ranks as one of the more ridiculous songs in her catalogue. I used to like "La Isla Bonita" but it was proven to me that even that song can "achieve" the status of "overplayed".

They forgot all those metal singers who have way more versatile voices than pop singers as metal music is so much more demanding on the voice and requires so much more technique. Many have done classical training like opera to be able to carry their voice above the music. Nightwish tried with a pop singer between their 2 lead singers but she couldn’t perform live as her voice wasn’t powerful enough. Her Studio performances were not bad because they could manipulate the recordings of her voice but life she failed miserably. Now they have Floor Jansen who is one of the best female voices of this moment.

Greetings from Costa Rica. I'm surprised karen Carpenter is not on this list. 😢. Now, Madonna is not close to other singers vocally, however, Madonna's music has been AMAZING. Her impact in music industry is awesome. She has managed to have the complete package to be a timeless singer. Her videos, tours and albums are simply wonderful wheather you like it or not. For all those reason she should be number 2. Even number 1. My respets to Whitney Houston. Keep the other bubble gum singers like Taylor S, Britney S, Arianna G. etc. They are just ok. Long live The real Queen!!!!?! Ladies and gentlemen : Madonna❤❤❤❤❤❤ Btw: Her current "Celebration tour" is a total success. ❤❤❤❤

Tbh…..Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, and Eartha kitt had much more power, tricks, and stamina with their voice. Billie just had a unique tone and masterful phrasing. Which the late singer Amy Winehouse also possessed. But she could also still out sing Billie aswell. When it comes to great jazz and soul singers one must have versatility. The reason why Billie is so renown is because she was the first to ever think about phrasing and singing in a slow emotive manner. Something that Amy Winehouse already mastered and improved upon by adding her own quirky phrases mixed with her accent. I will say though that Dinah Washington’s attribute was also similar to Billies. But instead of singing in an emotive slow tone she sung in a crystal clear voice with great power. Something Aretha and Patti Labelle admired and wanted.

Dusty Springfield was a very good singer but Petula Clark was better and had more success worldwide. And the British singer with the most powerful and BEST voice ever was Jackie Trent. Even though she didn't have the same success as Petula Clark, Cilla Black or Dusty Springfield. But she did have a beautiful #1 record: Where Are You Now (My Love). Petula Clark was the most successful and Jackie Trent had the best voice referring to British singers.

Madonna is an icon but not because of her voice and I think she’d admit that. She worked on her voice for years but it was her personality, her dance moves and her willingness to push the boundaries of our values in America that make her a star. She was always controversial and I loved that. But no she does not belong here…at all.

Also, this is called "The Best Female Singers", but rates singers like Tina Turner and Madonna way too high. They both had very successful careers, but that makes them most successful rather than best singer.
As others noted, Judy Garland is missing and I haven't seen anyone mention Julie Andrews. More current are the likes of Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson. You could make a top 100 list and some in this video would be toward the bottom of it.

2nd. Was there anything in your talents, abilities of list of who you choose outlaw Country & Western singers? With exception being Patsy Cline as an honorable? mention. There are several that would match most of the ones listed. Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gail, Carrie Underwood and Shania Twain are a few.
ps. No Lady Gaga? Or how about some of the ladies of stage. Idina Menzel, Elaine Page, Bernadette Peters, Sarah Brightman, Julie Andrews, Ethel Merman, Angela Lansbury and much more.
