I also have the B5 in the R-Design pro trim with air & B&W sound. It makes me smile all the time I use it. It’s super comfy, powerful enough and can load half a small town if you folded down all the seats. Those thinking of a large lux SUV should include this in their short list of possible contenders. Fantastic cars!
Indeed ! I’ve just averaged 43mp imp gallon over a distance of 900km, from Frankfurt to Iserlohn to Paris . Got out of the car feeling fresh as can be !
I bought one 3 months ago , didn’t go for the sound system because my wife is pretty deaf & I can’t justify £3k for a big radio, I also didn’t go for the air suspension as most driving jurnos say there’s not much between the normal & air , so that was another £2k saved. I did spec just about everything else, total for the car was low £60k ish but with one thing or another there was big discounts bringing the car in at £54k. It’s my first Volvo and I agree with the presenter , the car doesn’t fee big to drive. When I park it up , I’m always surprised when walking back to how bloody massive it is. Around town in short journeys it’s a thirsty beast but give it a bit of free road & I don’t get under 40mpg, the best mpg I got was on a free flowing motorway & I got 54mpg.
Yeah, the sound system is a hefty option if audio isn’t a big thing for you. There isn’t much difference between air and normal with on-road driving. You only notice the difference when you start going more off road. Yep, feels half the size to drive, crazy to think how big it actually is. 40mpg isn’t bad, probably 30mpg around town with ease though (depending on traffic).
I’m now now on my 5th xc90 2015 and up. I absolutely love these cars! But I actually don’t agree on the air suspension. I’ve had a inscription without air and it was very comfy and soft. But the air I just another step, at the switch of a button the car goes from a comfy family suv to an beast on the B roads. Great car!
A very comprehensive review but in a review of this length I would expect some more info on how the mild hybrid works. Btw, I think you've got eh color wrong. This is the Magic Blue, not the Denim Blue.
Volvo don’t give any information about the mild hybrid in their press pack unfortunately, so I just discuss findings etc. :) In a future Volvo mild hybrid video I’ll make sure to find out though! In the UK this colour is sold as Denim Blur - just checked the spec sheet for the car. :)
Have Volvo made their final goodbye to the diesel engine? Have a watch and see!

Mild hybride is a name? Or it has a electric engine
I've always loved the Volvo XC90 and this review shows why. class and total prestige without being snobby.
Yes I totally agree, really luxury car without shoving it in people’s faces.

That’s very impressive!
just traded my fully specced out V90CC Ocean Race for fully specced XC90... I liked V90CC a bit more, but I needed the extra 2 seats...

I just entered a lease agreement for 2020 Volvo XC90 B5 Blue Denim White leather seat. Can't wait. :D
You’ve got a great car coming! :)
Blue colour and white leather is perfect. I have old Volvo xc90 generation with combination like this. Love it! 👍🙂 Congratulations!
It’s a mega combo!

Thanks a lot! And probably because I don’t upload enough. :D
Is hybride just a name or does it mean it really has electric engine

Looks like I’m trading in my xc60
I would. XC90 is superb.
Great video very Informative in the real time world none of this seeing how fast you can get it to go sideways Not that I don’t like saying that 😂
I’m not good at putting cars sideways (on purpose)... so that helps!
Looks like good old Hayling sea front...
That’s the one, great place to film - except when it’s windy!
