the description says Burzum appeared from nowhere in 1991 with a demo tape made up of a dozen guitars-and-bass-only tracks in rehearsal quality. I made a few more or less successful metal albums, but they all always included at least some ambient music. With time I moved further and further away from metal, and today only the ambient music remains. Today (2013) I think I am done playing metal music for good. Many of you followed Burzum through the years, some even from the beginning, and I think metal-Burzum deserves a proper "good bye". So, just like I started out I will finish metal-Burzum with a guitars-and-bass-only track in rehearsal quality. "Back to the Shadows" is made up of the last metal riffs I ever made (in 2012). It was never released in any way, or recorded (beyond what you hear here), and it will not either -- beyond this short "video". Take it for what it is; a sentimental good bye to metal-Burzum. The music is playing with an image of the 17 year-old me, taken from the time when some of the first Burzum tracks were made. You can see this track as a good bye to that fellow too. You can use this music as you please privately, but the track is mine, so if you by any chance want to use it commercially you need a permission from me to do so. NB! Remember that I don't have a Facebook account, so all those claiming to be me there are frauds.
Does anyone know of any bands/artists that make more music very similar to this song? Meaning lofi instrumental black metal without drums? I've tried before to find a band that sounds like this song, but haven't found any. I just wish Varg had made an entire album with this sound, it's honestly one of my favorite Burzum songs, if not my favorite.
Well let me ask you this, have you went back and listened to pre burzum? Uruk Hai? Check it out, it's a mix of black metal instrumentals without drums and dark ambient shit. It's really good ruclips.net/video/s9bOgFZJH3A/видео.html
It Is a great painting, i really like His style, It reminds me of León Spilliaert, could you please tell me His full name so i can learn More about His works? Of course i'm talking about Theodore.
I can definitely hear early Cocteau Twins in Burzum. Not only sound wise but in the unconventional song structures. He has never specified but I wonder if he ever listened to them in the eighties.
Mourning for a lost world
Simply beautiful.

Listen to thorns original demo bass and guitar only
This is not metal, this is ambient music with distorted guitars… Sounds like Varg’s “beef” is more against the guitar itself

@@purplesleeve4075 thanks
It came out as a single, it was Varg's goodbye to the black metal Burzum (he continued to make music, but only folk music and never metal again).

His final metal track, not final work
Nobody said that this was his final work, only his final metal project, which it is.
