    The concern with saying "just run it next season" is the fact that the Heat still don't have much to trade in terms of picks and Jimmy, as you mentioned, is 33 and will be 34 next season, an age where non-generational superstars like Jimmy have a propensity to see major dips in ability and health (see Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and many others examples). The cracks are already showing, and come next season Jimmy may not be able to remain a true #1 anymore.

    While many would disagree, Bam Adebayo is the actual key to unlocking Miami's potential IMO. He has been criticized for not being aggressive enough (offensively) at times which is one of the main reasons people are calling for a different star player alongside Jimmy. However, in Jimmy's absence this season, Bam has begun to find that aggression and it is beginning to show more and more. In looking at the leading scorers of each game for the Heat, here are the records. When Jimmy is leading (2-3), when Herro is leading (1-5), when Bam is leading (6-3) and someone else (3-3). Sure there could possibly be no correlation, but when watching Heat games it seems to back up this theory (for now). Just throwing this out there.

    Heat's problem is that they insist on Bam as their starting Center. Maybe move him to forward as he is nimble enough and get a reliable big. They are easily getting outrebounded and their blocks per game are atrocious. Basically, they don't have interior d to stop slashers. They are fine on the perimeter but those two things are killing them right now.

    • @Kosher93
      @Kosher93 Год назад +12

      This is wrong. They have TERRIBLE point of attack defense. Bam is keeping their defense together damn near by himself with Caleb. Miami has a 109 def rating with Bam on the floor (would rank top 3). They fall to 113 when he comes off the floor which ranks in the bottom half of the NBA. They either need better perimeter defenders who can stretch the floor or a stretch 5 rim protector who can push Bam to the perimeter to guard the other teams best wings.

HOWEVER, he can simultaneously be the glue guy, the leader, and someone you trust with that last shot on a championship team. Nobody who pays attention to Jimmy Butler can ever accuse him of not having enough passion for the game and he's the guy who's got that dog in him and continuously sets an example for his teammates. Given the amount of blood sweat and tears he's shed for the game, Jimmy is one of those guys that deserves to win a championship before the conclusion of his career.

    Jimmy to me needs to develop a consistent 3pt shot he’s obviously more comfortable shooting midrange but his offensive game is not vast enough yet to be the guy that teams can not handle Jimmy as of now is quite containable against really good teams if you put a really good defender on Jimmy that can play on his ball handling ability, the ability to create space off the dribble like really yo-yo the ball he’d be in trouble he needs to be able to make consistently from three guys like Herro and bam are too inconsistent right now

    Issue #1: Bam isn't as good as he should be as a 2way All Star
    Issue #2: Kyle Lowry is too old to be depended upon to handle all the starting PG duties, on both sides of the ball.
    Issue #3: Tyler Herro is 1-dimensional. As their #2 option he's too much of a liability on Defense.
    Issue #4: No one else on the roster is capable/talented enough to fill that #4 role consistently, which you could consider being the #3 role because between Jimmy, Bam, Herro & Lowry someone is going to be missing games.
    Heat just aren't good enough to make up for regular season Jimmy's apathy.

    • @Kosher93
      @Kosher93 Год назад +1

      Lol Bam has been our best player this year. The problem isnt Jimmy Bam or Herro. Even with Lowry’s inconsistency he still provides playmaking most nights. Outside of Caleb all our role players STINK and Miami is 22nd in 3p% while being 8th in attempts. FO sat on their hands and didn’t improve the roster around our top 3 players.

    • @09lowkey
      @09lowkey Год назад

      @@Kosher93 Bam isn't playing as well as Anthony Davis or Giannis, Embiid or Jokic, and for the Heat to be where they want to be Bam needs to be in the conversation with those guys, and he hasn't been. Bam might be their best player, but with Bam as your best player you look like a 1st or 2nd Round exit. Basketball gods forbid they become a PlayIn team. Nothing you said discredits my takes. Your role players suck, Lowry is inconsistent, and we wont even talk about Herro on Defense, he's worse than Jordan Poole, and he's the Warriors' worst defender. FO didn't do anything to replace PJ Tucker, and like it or not, even at his age he contributes to winning. The Heat are competent as they come, but they're simply not a contender as of now.

    The Miami Heat has looked like a one-man team in the playoffs. Jimmy Butler is definitely that guy, but at the end of the day one-man teams don't win championships.
    Even Michael Jordan needed Scottie Pippin. Bam Adebayo disappeared in the playoffs except for one or two games.
    The temperature in the room can be measured by the fact that one of the better 3 and D players in the league, P.J. Tucker, declined his Heat player option, and left to go play for Philly. 🏀

    My first thought after last seasons playoffs was that the Heat were screwed. They had a 3 year window to win, with last year being their best shot, and they failed. They didn’t make any good moves in the offseason cause they didn’t really have assets to move. They’ve gotten the most out of their below average roster for years, but the East is just overall better than them. You can’t really argue that they are as good or better than anyone above them in the conference. They’re cooked.
