As someone who also grew up abroad and not in China, being the only part of the family to move abroad, this video is so heartwarming and relatable ❤
This video made me miss my Chinese family… but I also realize how much more scared my Chinese side of the family is to show affection & say I love you 😂
My Chinese parents never said I love you once but I can definitely tell by their actions. Action speak louder than words.

Ma gosh my bff is also a Shanshan and her parents are also from Sichuan!!! Her "Shan" refers to a certain type of tree, translating to fir or cedar.
I have a similar story growing up abroad. Recently, I visited home town and as you say it's a privilege to be in North America. So much respect for my mom who brought us to Canada ❤!

Immigrants make a lot of sacrifices. But America no longer offers a better life and China is doing really well.
China GOATED....Crazy how even though it's a collectivist society, when I go there I feel more like an individual and more human. Like if I make an a$$ out of myself I'm just one idiot and didn't just bring down my entire race. lol.
And I'm grateful to the people there who gave me the time of day and gave me the confidence I should've had earlier...I miss the motherland, it straight up healed me :'>

You're not living in cities in China. Village people used to have a good image of the US but mood changes when you live in cities as they're more exposed to the world media.

It’s a bit of disappointing that you didn’t show our viewers around the village but I got only one glimpse of it and seems the village is still quite underdeveloped and your grandfather’s house is the only good house in the village. I guess it’s your father financed the building of the house. Jiaxian in Henan is still quite poor and most young people left countryside and went to city to earn a living.
