probably you're right...but remember, this guy has more than 20 years of career in his back, Detroit parties were gone even before his half of trajectory and the greater success after Plastikman came also in NY and Europe. Even himself and those who started there with him recognize they never felt very welcome in Detroit parties. I think he started something already existent and turned it into something kinda different, and i love it :-)
Juan Atkins, Kevin Soundersson and Kevin Sounderson do get recognition (watch Slices). But they they stayed in Detroit while Richie moved to Europe so that's why he is much more popular. And he also did something very differend than Rob Hood with the Berlin influences.
i don't care what medium he's using, the end product is amazing. digital djing is always a sensitive issue, to the people that are scared to move into the future. by no means what richie's is doing now any easier than mixing on 2 decks and a mixer. if anything its more difficult because he has so many things going on at once. i recommend those still antiquated in the stone age of vinyl records to watch his video on the traktor scratch website. you can then understand what he's trying to do.
of course you are. what genre of music did you help pioneer? how many releases did you put out over the past two decades...and on what labels? how many records have you sold so far? and have you ever played outside your bedroom? oh...and...something stinks...did you forget to change your diapers?
Hawtin's best work was loooong ago. This is dull "minimal". I saw him at Coachella 01'(?) and it was definitley a step backward from all the cool vibe CREATIVE stuff he did w/ fuse and the early plus8 and definitive tracks.
staying true to his game like many other djs out there. how dare he let technology get involved in his sets. look at other techno gods like frankie bones still spinning vinyl. that is staying true to your game!!!
true, times are changing and it's not anything bad necessarly. In the same way shitty djs existed on the 90s they also exist now, and luckyly this one is not the case. But anyway, who cares if someone is playing on vinyl or final scratch, after all you need to be very skilled on both two if you want to do a good work...
Mate its called get with the times, shit is changing. Have a sook that people are not carrying around bags of records. So what Richie decides to place his music through another medium, his laptop. You have no idea, sorry little one.
thats just rude. richie is minimal and kind of the founder of the style. also somewhat of a genius, go listen to him talk. and if you dont like it, dont listen to it.
@DougYfunnie excuse me but what is the point of being a dj if you beat sync everything then basically anyone can do it, you have it so so wrong in this comment no talent involved there. you beat match then you mix simple as if you cant do that then you aint no dj, and ill say turntables are the best way for a dj no computer crap needed if you can really dj open your eyes.
1.Ambivalent - Nuggets

The only thing i can say is: That's right.
Hawtin's best work was loooong ago.

@SolForceJxn2 the black men in detroit aren't gay
well there wouldn't be much mixing techniques to talk about since all he does now is use traktor and autosync
serato scratch live
real djs play music and don't spend time chastizing other djs for how they play music.
Mate its called get with the times, shit is changing. Have a sook that people are not carrying around bags of records. So what Richie decides to place his music through another medium, his laptop.
You have no idea, sorry little one.
yeah because the whole point of deejaying is beatmatching.
you dont dj, do you?
He enjoys turning those knobs, doesnt he.......
I'm crazy for nuggets...
it's not all about beatmatching!
but, actually i wouldn't like to talk to people the whole night long...i would get annoyed by that at some point...:D
RICHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
the father of mnml and techno :X:X:X:X:D:D:D
LMAO it's kind of ridiculous that nobody's actually DANCING in the video - people are just watching him...
ambivalent - nuggets
thats just rude. richie is minimal and kind of the founder of the style. also somewhat of a genius, go listen to him talk. and if you dont like it, dont listen to it.
sickness @ 02:16
not so bad
great place for the vid to stop :-(
snore.
Boring...I remember days when Dj's bought twice the same track, d-d-ou-bled-ou-bled, phased with just two vertical faders....
@theotheotheotheo Don't like it Don't watch it!
