Good sir, this is absolute facts.
As for why NECA lost the license: It was some on NECA for having poor planning with new sculptors, and some on Playmates/Legendary. Around that time they dropped a lot of their lines that they didn't see huge profit in, as repaints saved them over the years. Playmates bid a higher dollar and was promised no competition during GvK by Legendary. They could still get the license and were able to after stores stopped selling GvK 6" figures, but NECA slowed down their lines are pretty much is a Turtle, Alien, and Predator maker. From my understanding Toho is fairly loose on who gets the Godzilla license, but it's very expensive, especially the monsters. I remember when NECA said they didn't think there would be a market for 2019 King Gidorah, yet was happy to release the Queen Alien and most head scratching....a Predator chopper from the comics that would have cost about the same. That chopper thing sat at a local FYE until they dropped the price and threw it in a sale bin.
I hate it, but NECA has kinda done this to themselves over the years. I loved their video game stuff and they were the top dog in the early 2010s right behind McFarlane with Halo. What really burned me on them was blaming consumers on the loss of God of War, Valve and Activision characters by not buying 5 repaints of the same characters. Though I really don't think Super7 will do any better, especially at their crazy price point.
I do still have my second release '84 in a sea of MA Godzillas, and still think he's a great figure (the first was hot garbage).
I think one of the best articulated and painted Neca Godzillas for me is the atomic breath GMK Godzilla. Just, fantastic paint apps that bring out his ghostly features, exceptional articulation, and of all of them the easiest to get to move his knees.
Second favorite is of course Monkey Godzilla. Such a classic.
I love NECAthon. Taking a final, *FINAL* look at the figures that we adored so much, right before HIYA is gonna sweep them off the floor lol.
54 goji is pretty decent imo. The first waves of figures were alright, but the later ones were amazing!! 64 goji is my personal favorite as it's a great figure.
Wished they could've made a 74 Goji before the license expiration.
Glad you’re liking it so far my guy 👀 I know it’s rather mixed these days, but I think they absolutely deserve one more shot, one more tour before I let them sleep box ridden until I get more shelves.

As for NECA hopes… the scope was a wide. It feels like once they were finally on a good wave, and opening their eyes to more possibilities, it just collapsed. A shame. A real shame.

The poster version is a genius repaint, like it's one that I wish a had due to how cool he looks.

I really like my Neca Godzillas.
NECA was a great option for people to get cheap strictly-godzilla action figures for a time, man I miss them.
Plus they were my first ACTUAL Godzilla figures, even though I own the Monsterarts 1954 and love it (still wish it had clawwwww paaaaiiinttttt) the NECA one is amazing too!
As for what I think who best is? 1989 and 2003 easily, both paint, sculpt, articulation and even proportions.
Idk why but NECA’s 1954 looks more like a 1955 to me. I think it’s the flatter head? The teeth? I use him as a 1955 in my display since I don’t have that one Bandai vinyl. XD
The re-issue of this figure was my 2nd Godzilla figure ever, and it still stands as one of my favorite of the Neca figures I own! Love how goofy-looking he is. The head looks fine to me (a common problem I have with Neca figures where the head just looks a bit off, but that could just be promo images being bad). Overall a very solid figure.
about a month ago I bought Neca 1954 Godzilla in box for a pretty high price in a store

WHY weren't the BACK TEETH PAINTED on the 1956 Poster Version GODZILLA? and did anyone actually find any that did have fully painted teeth? just wondering.
From what I’m seeing, it was entirely intentional to have the teeth like that, as part of the paint scheme and such.
12" tall 2014 is the 🐐 and their final Shodai is a close 🥈 for me. IMHO these two truly stand their ground against any of their larger and pricier representations. Even now that I own a gigantic Yuji Sakai-sculpted 1954, I love my NECA no less and display it with equal prominence.
I had no idea he glowed in UV. Time to go get mine out of the bin and stick him in my UV scorpion tank!

I sure do miss neca making Godzilla figures from the past years and I wish that if they still had godzilla license they would definitely need to improve the heads on heisei Godzillas, millennium Godzillas , and their shin Godzillas but for their godzilla 1954 and Godzilla 2014 they both are fantastic
well their 2019 was.....decent to say the least

Regarding why the wire tail instead of segmented, my guess would be force of habit by NECA, given their creatures such as xenomorphs often had wire tails.
I appreciate the hybrid nature of it, since most were strictly just bendy wire at the time and they decided to do both. Something that really came back hard with the 03 figures. Good stuff! Would’ve loved if they did that with some of the retools they released beforehand!

I have all the NECA, and now that collected all the SHMA that I missed over they years, yah they pail in comparison to MA but they are so nostalgic. NECA's biggest issue was the sculpt on almost all of them (their Shin is still only beat by Playmates in the lazy sculpt department) .
If you need me to smack around my NECA Kong figures again for your second farewell video I got a much better "camera" (phone) and even more Kong figures to smack around to "leave the memories alone". 😘

@@ShinRobjira I personally see them as poster like stuff I can incorporate into my displays, or even bookshelf's, also it helps me protect the figures when moving places.
At least with the 56 is technically an accessory to recreate the poster
Oh great you gonna blink the haters to death 😂😂😂😂 Yeah for 30 bucks NECA really outdid themselves by having the beams with the Godzilla with no extra charge. I like the original 54, something about the large eye teeth has me cracking up. I swear the stuff knee joints are a pain, always scared me when I moved them 😤
