American expat here - I love the extra depth of flavour that molasses gives to gingerbread as I was so used to it growing up. Perhaps a 50/50 split between molasses and golden syrup? And thank you for sharing your Nanna's recipe with us! :)
Hi Edd Lovely cake - looking forward to adding it to my repertoire. I would be tempted to use maple syrup if I were in the USA/Canada. I lived in the US for a while and found that a mix of maple syrup and some crystallized honey worked well when my supply of Lyle's was gone...
Carrol Woodley ok perfect, any good cake decorating shop will sell it, I use the PME brand. I just checked and thecakedecoratingcompany . Co . UK also sell it. It comes in a big size which last you for ages
So lovely. Glaze is v attractive. Thank you.
That looks luscious. Love the fine translucent glaze at the end. On my just make list.
Wow! I have been craving gingerbread and haven’t found a good recipe and here you are!! Thanks so much!

Yum this looks delicious.! I might give it a try with maple syrup because I've never heard of golden syrup, probably not sold where I am!

bobskid I’d be very intrigued to see if maple syrup would work, I might even give it a go myself
Can you do a video on the books you have and a must have baking book?
Thank You :)
Looks fab; I’d like to try it this weekend. I have a few Bundt pans. How much stem ginger should go in?
Misty Fulsome I normally go for 2-3 tbsp of chopped stem ginger, happy baking
But if a pill to convert to cups and ounces but Alexa rescued me. It was great.
Can I use light corn syrup?!
zoabi ebtesam you can but it has no flavour so the cake will be a lot less flavoursome. You can buy the real deal on amazon now though
The Boy Who Bakes thank you 🙏 i will try it 🌷
Can I ask you where you get the spray oil thanks Carrol
