This game is so cool! Yes it's clunky, yes the melee system is likely not as good as that of more polished games like Chivalry 2 or even Mordhau, but damn does it combine many old-school MMORPG ideas that I miss from games like EQ1 and SWG.
Interesting attempt of a mmorpg, sadly I don't think it'll be my cup of tea, among many others by the looks of it. But hopefully for them whom's attracted to this style won't be disappointed later once it's released.
tried both like 10 years ago lol. Lotro i boring and SWTOR is great, but play it as a single player RPG and you won't be disappointed. Some really good story telling and you have total of 8 stories you can play through. @@Odyssey636 That's not the combat being clunky or buggy, though, that's just a server sync issue. It happens with players at the moment too where they are rubber banding about sometimes. Yes, they will fix it, but it has nothing to do with the actual combat mechanics. And honestly, most of the criticism the game gets in general is from people who have no idea what they're talking about. The game is too complex for today's gamers to understand properly tbh. Even the combat can be so dynamic if you actually know how to fight. People swing their swords randomly and think they have mastered the combat and can form an opinion on it - and it's the same for every other aspect of the game.
@@Odyssey636 Again dude, you have no idea what you're talking about. The weapon's weight affects its attack speed and you can craft much lighter weapons later on from quality materials. There's also a parry mechanic in the game which charges your attacks much faster after successfully blocking an attack. I'm addition to all this there are feints (like in Mordhau) and you can strategically decide when to fully charge attacks or not. There will also be active melee skills added later on. The combat is intense and complex and it feels satisfying once you're good at it. But what do I know, I'm sure you already know so much more about the game and life in general I bet.
@@Odyssey636 He's right, you don't know what you're talking about. The game has an enormous amount of depth that was not shown here, and it does indeed take experience with the game to actually become good at it and be able to move and fight in a quick and smooth manner. New players don't understand how to fight properly because they're so used to not having to worry about things like not hitting with the hilt of your weapon instead of the blade, or at the correct point of the swing arc to deal the most damage. He also was indeed using a very slow and heavy starting weapon as well which contributes to the slow and clunky feeling he describes. You also have to factor in the stress test making everything 10x worse than it normally is. Helping make animations for games gives you zero credibility for commenting on this game, because you don't understand this game.
@@Odyssey636 Yes, both games are niche and forever will be due to their features, not because of what you are criticizing about the game. The only other games that I have ever known to have remotely similar features are Ultima Online and Darkfall; of course it's niche, it has nothing to do with how it's executed. Sure, it matters how it's executed and it will impact the amount of players it retains, but it will still be a niche game regardless due to it's hardcore features. And also if you think that the animations are bad or that the game is rough around the edges, then just say that. Don't say that the combat in general is "shit", because that's misrepresentative of what you're actually trying to say. The game is not even in Early Access yet, so of course it still needs some serious polish and fixes.
Should do a 1 year later on mo2. Development is finally recovering from launch and they're picking up the pace with quality of life and content expansion! Ue5 planned for the next 6 month of sprints.
I don't know if any game dev people noticed this but literally almost all the models used in this game are UE4 store assets that they bought. They even use the default ones... BRUH
Not like they wanted hide that fact, the CEO of the company mentioned it in a live stream. He also told, when they started to work on this game ages ago, they were only a small group of friends, now there are 26 guys on the dev team, and they only reached this number recently, as the game gained a huge exposure thanks to streamers & youtubers, and so they could afford more people. He also mentioned, they are gonna make their own assets, but they can't and won't change every singe one of the current ones, since they are still a very small team with limited human and material resources, and also this is not a priority. I think, we saw just enough games with their own assets, looking good at first, then turning out to be trash in terms of gameplay when we actually played them. MO2 provides deep immersion even in it's current state, and has pretty solid mechanics, but if/when all the planned features and content make it into the game, then hardly anybody will care about assets, but rather about if they're having fun playing the game or not.
It gets faster as your skills progress. Though large weapons with heavy armor will always be fairly sluggish. One handed swords and medium armor with good stats and skills will feel like mount and blade
@@QBiggie95 tho i think because its an rpg, the normal should be like M&B and the good stats way faster... to get that feeling of overpowered endgame character
@Doom Wraith It'll be slow and methodical in a way yes. But with higher skills and decent armor weight you can literally run around the opponents hand strike them continually. Just a matter of practice. I don't expect people to enjoy this combat style if it's not appealing to them, nothing wrong with that.
@I'm Sorry Its an MMO game, If I minus the MMO aspect from the game what I see is dull art style and pure mediocrity. I don't have to play the game to know this.
@@Odyssey636 Dude, the argument is used when the game is barely in closed alpha not close to release, do you realise theres still years of work they are gonna do? Sure it might release bad, but it shouldnt be judged by its bare alpha.

Its a very unique and great game but it's not for everyone
I am mostly amazed by how fast he made his character
16:47 the yyyeeeaahhh 🙁
Was filled with WE GOTTA FIX THAT..
For those that haven’t played the first one, guilds can wall off resources, towns etc making it extremely frustrating sometimes so beware and join a guild ASAP.
I love how everytime a game focuses on "realism", they make you move at the pace of a galapagos tortoise
You move a lot faster later, when you skill up dexterity.
20:19 I was distracted and I heard ”there's a deer” and I look back to see the long boi like whoa 😳😮 then realized what it was 😂🤣
i actually like this one it reminds me of mmo from the old days i hope they keep this art style
I am so glad that Asmongolds community thinks the game is trash, i would've hated to have them on the server :)
@Doom Wraith I am already having a lot of fun :) thanks buddy
This game is so cool!
Yes it's clunky, yes the melee system is likely not as good as that of more polished games like Chivalry 2 or even Mordhau, but damn does it combine many old-school MMORPG ideas that I miss from games like EQ1 and SWG.
Interesting attempt of a mmorpg, sadly I don't think it'll be my cup of tea, among many others by the looks of it. But hopefully for them whom's attracted to this style won't be disappointed later once it's released.
I actually really love this. People aren't giving it a fair shot because it's jenky, but look at stalker; Great games can be jenky.
it´s a little bit like kingdom come and thats good, i liked that game
Game's good, but they need to fix enemy hit detection. You can walk like 5 feet from an npc and they'll still be able to hit you.
A month and a half after the release, the game is starting to take shape.
i bough it release date , performance was shit , now i got into it again with a couple of friend and its really good
Binding your attack on your keyboard will be better than on your mouse, jst a tip!
Just the tip.
@@alondor8157 everybody look at this kid🤣🤣🤣
i love how asmon really wants there to be a wow killer. i feel him. i just let my wow sub expire and i'm trying out swtor and lotro
If you want something old school and free with a great development team play Star Wars Galaxies: Legends
@@tanrhd5089 is that a remake of the original sw galaxies?
tried both like 10 years ago lol. Lotro i boring and SWTOR is great, but play it as a single player RPG and you won't be disappointed. Some really good story telling and you have total of 8 stories you can play through. But it never felt like the good old wow i used to love, once i finished with story archs i got bored rather quickly.
Is lotro still alive?
@@coolboy9979 it is, there seems to be a loyal fanbase for it. i always see people on when i log in
Play Mortal Again !!!
People are like it's going flop mortal online one with a low player base is still going you dont have to have a game that is going to be huge if people love it and the developers love it like it's there child it will continue to be alive I love the complexity of it but it's not for everyone the combat is 100% skill based and if you're trash at pvp you will die alot but the community is somewhat accepting and they will help you gain the need skills to improve you combat abilities the world is unique with hidden place at every turn that you and your friends will have to adventure to find when I started play MO1 I met a group of guys trying to survive we were constantly being killed by reds(murders) and we started are own guild we had are own goals and set skills to improve are odd some would mine some would butch or tame (me) and we started to make progress we build are guild house and traveled the world in search of better materials so we could have better armor it was a experienc of a life time. Time flew by and we just enjoyed playing exploring fighting learning and improving. We got cocky we seen a red and decide to try to kill him but we were noobs he kill 7 of us and I was the 8th I ran intelligently to try to grab some of the gear he could carry. I made my way back to the location it wasn't to far from town so I was that bad and as I'm looting I see him he was like why did you run when your friend were get kill I told him theres no point of all of use dieing when I can retrieve some of the gear he laughed and was super cool he was apart of a French guild call ES and asked if we would like to join so we did and they help us learn more about the ge from crafting to combat it was a blast we fought other guild it's going to be a good game and I'm going to play it
when that bambi dissapear it had me dieing laughing hahah around 21:00
I laughed my ass off when you were calling the game generic and they released the hounds on you.
Got this game cuz of this video, it’s been a year and I’m still playing
Damn, craft me an epic mace brah
@@TheJesseWylde why you’ed just loose it?;)
People who worry about graphics are probably also the same People who play a competitive game and set everything to low for the advantage over looks. Graphics are nice in sp sure but who cares in general. There are many 2d games that are amazing and rely on gameplay not graphics.
Yeah but it looks generic and dated. Should’ve just made it cartoony then.
actual good montage keep it up man!
As someone who exclusively plays fantasy games / MMO's for the Magic Systems, this is a big NOPE :( hopefully by the time it's fully released they make it somewhat more relevant
god damn this was hilarious. i dont even really play many games and no MMOs but id watch this all day
That dude that helped you started regretting it once you said I can steal other people's loot cause they can't do anything.
"Wtf I need a book for? This is a sword game.." dead
Asmon: "This game is generic, same stuff you see in every game like skyrim *gets attacked by a random pack of wolfs* ...WTF"
I mean. Do you not get attacked by random stuff in the wilds of skyrim? I think it was more shocking in this game, because it's so empty. lol.
@@alondor8157 Also not released yet. Also game is based on PvP and politics/guild vs guild and becoming a well known crafter or PvPer.
@@alondor8157 this was a stress test for the servers. The available map (not including the zone asmon was in, wich is waaaay smaller, just a starter zone) is just a fifth of the actual one. And most things in the world was not spawned in, cuz again, just testing the servers and netcode capabilities
Its sad that asmon has such a toxic community... feels bad man - this chat man.
His community doesnt know toxic. MO community lives the grief and just considers it a valid play style.
is the beta worth trying? Because it doesn't look like these much to do.
you need to revisit the game made some good improvements
I give this game 2 months before people give up. Generic feeing games like this get hyped but then fail to deliver.
Why so much time? I give it 5 minutes on average
thats exactly what i was thinking today...character customisation also changes abilites such as speed and strenght...looking forward to this game...looks promising so far
That first guy who helped you out is why i love MMO's
6:23 I didn't know Asmon had a twin bother! 😮
what a catchphrase "im fast, im strong and i can't fucking read"
animation is nice except for the lats. how is the back in front of the arms
"Not realized much of that potential"^
Play the game, instead of roaming around in the starter area - you're not even doing anything.. :(
to 99% of people that play pc games, mortal online looks and plays like ass. its a super niche game for a super small amount of MMO players.
Funny with all the "wow" moments, even when you already knew after the "reaction" video from the game
Chat bashing every game not looking like WoW - it's actually a very decent game if you like proper PVP. The depth of the game is quite cool.
The combat resembled Mount And Blade, if they can make it a bit faster, like mount and blade, it would be pretty cool.
It gets faster as your skills progress. Though large weapons with heavy armor will always be fairly sluggish. One handed swords and medium armor with good stats and skills will feel like mount and blade
@@QBiggie95 tho i think because its an rpg, the normal should be like M&B and the good stats way faster... to get that feeling of overpowered endgame
character
That's your opinion, probably not the game for you :P. Older rpgs have generally been slow, and some of us genuinely enjoy that pacing.
@@QBiggie95 well i can see it beeing cool, even more if there are skills and all that stuff that wasnt shown in the video
@Doom Wraith It'll be slow and methodical in a way yes. But with higher skills and decent armor weight you can literally run around the opponents hand strike them continually. Just a matter of practice. I don't expect people to enjoy this combat style if it's not appealing to them, nothing wrong with that.
In these comments: Edgelords shitting on everything in life.

@I'm Sorry Its an MMO game, If I minus the MMO aspect from the game what I see is dull art style and pure mediocrity. I don't have to play the game to know this.
One of the best games ever made after Ultima Online. Surprised he tried it.
Hey Asmongold, are you gonna play this when it drops on the 25th?
20:50 that's funny :D
Really glad you could try it out. hopefully you continue and have a completely brand new adventure in Nave.

Mortal Online 2 is amaze-balls .
They deepthroat WoW so hard they got blizzard spunk coming out their nose
I played MO1, and I liked it, but it really lacked polish.
If MO2 can solve the polish problem, then it'll be a good game.
That sword is a real trooper, killing, cutting trees, mining ores!
The game is barely in alpha and people are judging it like its a full release ugh.
@@Odyssey636 Dude, the argument is used when the game is barely in closed alpha not close to release, do you realise theres still years of work they are gonna do? Sure it might release bad, but it shouldnt be judged by its bare alpha.
@Doom Wraith Im not coping Im saying people arent giving it a fair shot.
Hour and a half Login Queued, still unable to get in for the stress test. Watched your video while I waited. Appreciate ya Asmongold.

4:00 I'm gonna quote this someday, lmao
"I'm FAST.. I'm STRONG.. And I can't fuckin read."
- Asmongold
I just want a solid MMORPG that gives me a good reason to play with other people regardless of their level or progress in "The ultimate super important and unique chosen one" story.
I also want in depth crafting for items, including good reasons to level up cooking so I could cook up some valuable items while doing a dungeon with a group. Get some mythical bacon from a mini-boss' adds in a fight and cook it up after the warriors chop them to pieces.
Cooking is actually a thing to use spells you must collect material to make pets tamable you have to lower their health then feed them building will be added.
@Doom Wraith If you don't see the fun in it then it isn't for you. I enjoy things like Pam's Harvestcraft in Minecraft that add large amount of extra food items and steps. I could just eat tons of Porkchops, but I'd rather grow Beans, Peppers, and raise Cows to craft Chili.
Gotta love the ad gag at 26:30
