Every day I wake up I can’t wait to see which old vintage bikes you’re going to premiere. I grew up in the 60s and 70s so these bikes bring me back a Lotta good memories. Thanks
I attended some local motocross races in the woods of West Germany in the Seventies when I was an American teen military dependent over there. And those men were absolute gladiators on their dirt bikes, many of them Maicos.
Amazing how well your guys get these vintage 2 strokes running, and fast y'all get them running. Also amazing how bikes that old, seem to be able to compete well with modern 2 stroke dirtbikes. ❤️😲
Love the look of this bike! I remember when bikes had no mufflers. I like the way this one was not modified to have one and is original. Possibly the coolest looking logo ever. Looks like it means business.
I had the 400 square barrel 1971 Had vic krause rework frame for long travel , had him send all back with gas bilsteins always short shift , it handled like no other in the day, you were really racing a factory scoot , had several radials always 400 cc I was small for open class but loved it District 17 # 197
And that’s why I watch Kaplan cycles religiously you get to see stuff you never new existed I never new maico did a small cc bike Kaplan cycles are the number 1 for anything dirt related 👌
See...now...I'm the guy that looks at this, and visions of the Maico RS 125 GP bikes are all I can see. Good for just northwards of 28hp.😄 rotary case induction, and later also became liquid cooled. Rotary case induction, dominated small cc GP championships, during their time. 4-strokes couldn't touch them.
Sounds like an old Hodaka we used to rip around on as kids. We were so young we could only stop and start it by standing next to a cinder block to put our feet down .
The saying. Maico Breako I believe came about because of their 125 model. They were known to be super fast but usually broke before they finished a race. Super friggen rare back in the day , there weren't to many made. PLEASE don't sell this one. It belongs in the Museum. Maico's have always been my dream bike and as a former 125 rider yrs ago ( I don't ride anymore at 65 ) I would still love to own this one. A rare jewel.
As stated by the inventor of the Kalashnikov , AK47 “ Complexity is the enemy of dependability “ he would surely approved of this beautiful engineering 👍
You just don't see 125 Maicos very often, they were pretty rare, 250, 400 and 440 were the most common. I have had a number of Maicos but never a 125, looks great in the orange color.
Great video as usual. Love the bike, but cannot figure out what looks like a Bing carb inserted into the cases and corrugated black breather hose going into the airbox. I have a '72 Penton and remember Maico well, but I do not remember this configuration or what it was called. Can anyone explain it to me? Thanks!
This was my first dirt bike only it was red. Then I got a 100cc Bultaco as well and had them both at the same time. Both very rare bikes. I don’t remember how they left me and after 50 years later I’m still wondering. All I remember after I got them that I was going through puberty and had a smoking hot girlfriend. That putang stuff will make you forget about everything… hell I could have won the lottery… I didn’t care
How about a 72 250 radial fin, or a 500cc. Any inside? My buddy lives in Ellington, and we've driven by your place. Will have ta check out your hrs. Love me a Maico.
Hey Kaplan I have a 70-75 not sure which year But it’s a puch mc125 and do you know if I fill up the crank case with oil and if so what oil does it take
@@thebanditabromowicz My lifelong riding buddy had a F9. We called it a Pighorn. It was his 3rd. bike, a KV75 to an SL70 to the Bighorn. It was a big jump from an SL70. I had a Sherpa T at the time. This would have been 1973.
Why are the older 2-strokes more powerful than the newer ones? It seems like in the mid 90's, they did something that took away ALOT of the power and changed the sound 🤷♂️

Another beautiful Maico brought to you by the Maico Master Mr. America!
It's very cool to see how much dirt bikes have progressed. That's a gorgeous piece of History
That MAICO is so clean it looks plastic!!! Beautiful restoration!
Love the clean simple and well engineered look
I’ve never seen one like this! Very nice and of course the stinger exhaust makes it sound amazing! Very nice machine!
I've never heard a 2 stroke 125 sound so beautiful. If Metallica never made it that would be my music
Amazing how well your guys get these vintage 2 strokes running, and fast y'all get them running. Also amazing how bikes that old, seem to be able to compete well with modern 2 stroke dirtbikes. ❤️😲
When i was a kid the maico 503 was the most insane track bike on the planet
Sounds crisp for an oldy 🤘
I can smell the bean oil from here love it. Classic Kaplan bikes that you never see anywhere else.👍
Man, cool bike! I've never seen and know that Maico has a 125cc MX bike. Thanks for sharing.
Talk about one super simple machine. Makes modern dirtbikes look like spaceships.
I remember guy’s showing up at the pit on these in the seventies those were the days look at that thing it sounds sick! Very cool!
Love the look of this bike! I remember when bikes had no mufflers. I like the way this one was not modified to have one and is original.
Possibly the coolest looking logo ever. Looks like it means business.
And it was cool that Terry Kath of Chicago had a Maico logo on his guitar.

Thanks for the video Sr. I've never seen a bike with this style carb configuration, very cool!

I would love to come over there and see all thes cool bikes and see all cool dirt bikes
that is so cool. It makes me want to get my 125 running.
Reminds me of the old Bultaco's and Ossa Yankee, the way the tank squares off, and the frame. Super HD looking.
Ein original Maisch & Co Motorrad, wunderschön.
Wow that looks a epically simple machine
Wow what an amazing machine Ken thanks for the video
Love the bike! The KDX in the background I would want first!
Sounds like an old Hodaka we used to rip around on as kids. We were so young we could only stop and start it by standing next to a cinder block to put our feet down .
🔥right on sr, I just love the old classic bikes🔥👊🔥🔨⚙️🏍

Top bike vintage!
tiny tiny piston
enough fins to cool a nuke 🚀
Probably 13:1 compression.
Ultimate art-deco motorcycle.

this bike echoes the saying "sometimes less is more"
Timeless design. Doesn’t look like there’s enough components to make it run.
I love vintage do you remember the white tornado 250 1966 1967

Snap, Crackle N Pop… sound crisp…
I think there was about 5 of these imported...
Interesting that I raced MX in that era and I never saw one

Clean
Kap 💯👀
Oil always helps tank

It is a rotary valve motor like Kawasaki F6, F7 and 125, 175 Can Am's. It may be a co-incidence that a German motorcycle has a square head.
Both my 74 Kawasaki g4 tr-d 100 and my 74 Kawasaki f9 350 bighorn are rotary valve induction, they PULL hard especially that 350

Kawi did a nice little KH 100 rotary disc
Pnp 4images
Sounds very CHAINSAW ❤👍😀

I rode a 250 same name it was a ass buster and wheelie freak back in early 70s great looking bike whats that saying dont make em like that anymore.
Ken why dont you enter a team at next year's vmxdn over in England
Lets do it
Send the plane over.
@@jonmccormick8683 ill pick the bikes up n bring them over as long as Ken is giving me a 500 to ride🤣
At the pace of these offerings we may witness jumping x # of cars in that parking lot in the days ahead 🆘
I miss 2 stroke
Disc intake
I know where one has been hanging for 35 years with all parts for 800. Is it worth it? Looking for a project bike to build with my 17 year old
To be honest you'd be better off with a better known brand like a one of the Japanese ones that you can still get parts from for the 90s or '80s
