I'm so glad you broached this topic by using a digital camera for beginners. When I began shooting in the early 80s, film and processing were very cheap. Nowadays I definitely could not afford my shooting my first 1,000 or so photos using film. Love the channel!
Owning the Fujifilm cameras X-T2, T3 an H2, having had the E1 and E2, having bought the E2s only this year, I would not say the E1 is a camera for beginners. Maybe I would not even recommend it to a beginner.
Great Video, Just picked up a Voitlander 40 mm f1.2. par with a Digital or Analog. But with the close focus of .05 I think it will go well with my L M 11-p. Thanks again.
Isn't the 35mm a different field of view than a 50mm? I have a 50mm on my APS-C camera, I know the focal length is 75mm but the field of view is still that of a 50mm.
No. A 50mm lens on an APS-C still has a focal length of 50mm, that never changes. The field of view though would be equivalent to a 75mm lens on full frame.
@@andrewcanton3539yep, the writing on the lens says 50mm and the lens formula will always stay 50mm, even if you put it on a m43 or smartphone sensor. The angle of view however depends on the sensor size. So the lens could end up as a wide angle lens when used on a large format camera 😂😂😂
Glad you mentioned that, after years I'm still confused 😂 Hoping someone can verify....if I want to shoot at 50mm on an apsc what lens do I need, it's all I ask 😂😂
@chrisjones6439 If you want the same angle of view with an APS-C that equates to a 50mm on full frame, you'd want to slap a 35mm lens on your camera. An APS-C sensor has a crop factor of 1.5 - that means you take 35 x 1.5 = 52.5
I do not thnk tha a 50mm focal length for full frame format is the "BEST" beginner Lens for street photography ! Get a 35mm or 40mm Lens !!! There is a reason why millions of compact fixed Lens Cameras have Lenses of 35, 38 or 40mm focal length !
@@andrewcanton3539 I do not like the focal length 28mm, it seems always to be either too long or too short, I prefor to use 24mm and 25mm Lenses. But for a beginner 35mm is great.
Depending on setup for a beginner, a 50mm is a good start. It'll help with how the photographer sees the world. In addition, it'll make the photographer work a little harder.

I’m already subscribed since long time ago!!😂😂
Love the way you presented the lens and shared the knowledge. So well done, Jonathan!
Thank you!

The way this lens pops up to all photography channels I follow is crazyyyy. Feel like getting it for my a6000!
These photos are dope! It’s cool seeing your progression from your 2020 street photography videos to now.
I recently got an XT3 and been searching for an affordable lens… def gonna snag me one 🔥✊🏽
Have a look at the Fuji XC35 F2. Its really cheap and shares the same optics as the XF35 F2. Extremely sharp lens.
50mm GM 1.4 arrives tomorrow, good timing for the video! Subbed ✌️
Hype!

Love u because u return fujifilm
Love your pics and video!
Just a quick question, are the shutter shounds in the video actuall sounds of Fuji XE-1? I thought they were real good....
50mm lover here, thanks man! Looking to get that Viltrox beauty. Also, cool to see the XF35 1.4 lens hood fits there.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
colors are great brudda
the Viltrox is pushing that 35mm lens really hard! It's everywhere!!!
Shilltubing at its best!
Great video bro. Come to Stockton and let’s shoot.
Great video! What lens hood is that? Can you post the link to where you bought it?
Never mind, I saw another comment saying the 35mm 1.4 hood fit so I found a lightly used Fujifilm hood for that lens. Thanks!
8:00 bro, this spot alone had so many potential compositions
Made the mistake of buying the TTArtisans 35mm f1.8, it was cheap like the Viltrox but I hate it! I was wondering if the Viltrox is better?
Just get the native Fujifilm XC 35mm F2. Cheaper too.
I got this for my a7ii but for some reason it’s vignetting on the edges
Dope.

I’ll keep my Fuji 35 f1.4…..
40mm vs 50mm? Or are we just splitting hairs?
We are
Its quite different actually
Best focal length. Naysayers just wanna be contrarians.

I agree. But I think 35mm is the longest one should go. 28mm is king, but much more difficult to use right.
