Question for the experts. That's you. :) I have Zoho One and am considering using Projects for my Operations team. We are event planners an each party has its own set of tasks and deadlines. I use Trello with great success and my Ops team is super nervous about switching but my sales team is over copying the CRM info to Trello for every job. Before I dive in and do all this work to set up Projects I want to know that Zoho is supporting it and that it is the right choice for event management. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

Tyler discussed linking deal closures with Project automatically starting and the fields carrying over to the Project but did not elaborate on how the two get linked together. Great overview!

Very good tutorial. My only thought is that you use the word "Milestone" in a rather strange way. I tend to think of it as points in a projects when a certain phase or section is complete, or as a marker for a time of evaluation. Compare with what is said about this in Wikipedia: "Milestones are tools used in project management to mark specific points along a project timeline. These points may signal anchors such as a project start and end date, or a need for external review or input and budget checks. Some contracts for products include a "milestone fee" that may be paid out when certain points are achieved."

Is there a way to make each Deal in a CRM become a Milestone in a Project? The use case is wanting to have a single Project match up to an Account or Contact in CRM...and then have each Deal associated with that Account/Contact match up to a Milestone in the singular Project. I'm looking to avoid having 10 Projects for a single Account/Contact. Most of our Deals will have 95% of the work done within the first couple of months, and then it's basically an annual checkup/revisit after that. Because every year after that there are a few annual tasks, the Deal and/or Project never actually ends, so to speak. Hence not wanting to have 10 open Projects for each Account/Contact. (Let me know if my thinking is off here!)

Hi Danley, That should not be happening by default, either there is a workflow rule in place that is making the edit on your behalf, or there is a bug that Zoho Support will have to address.

How do you assign a task to a client user profile?
Once a client user is added to Zoho Projects, and added to the specific Project in question, they should be available under the "Owner" field
