I just took early retirement from a company I worked at 27 yrs. I maintained a massive 911 system and it consisted of most of the elements you are describing. My problem is finding employers who can wrap their mind around the responsibility and complexity that I functioned in for decades. What they can wrap their mind around is that I do not possess any of the cool certifications out there (my company did not care- but our internal training was well beyond these outside certs) and are quick to dismiss me as an old "has-been". So I am taking a year off to get a bunch of certs so I can get a job. Wow. Great content. I will certainly knock them out and good info on how to mention being a part time student. Thanks.
excellent work mate! I recommend you try and tailor your CV to match the description of the job you’re applying , which means you might need to remove some stuff you worked in your previous company that may be irrelevant to the target job. I’m sure you’ll knock out the certs quickly!
I graduated college for cybersecurity a year and a half ago and I've had issue come up to stunt my job searching and my confidence was low. These vids have given me that confidence to get up and going again and I'll work towards the google cert and work my way through the skill sites you mentioned. That way Ill gave a great looking CV. Honestly, great channel. I was confused if I have to do the Network+ and Security+ certification to get started.
This video gave a clear guidance what to do...
Thankyou Unix Guy!!
Glad I could help!
This is an absolutely incredible video for anyone wanting a roadmap as a lot of poeple don't know where to start. Ive been following your videos and I've done my Google IT Support Cert and will be starting my Cybersecurity Cert next followed by the Blue Team Level 1 but I will be definitely throwing all these in there before I take the Blue Team cert and then updating my CV with all this valuable information. This is such an incredible video, thank you so much!
👏🏻👏🏻
The best part is that the Google Cyber cert goes over things like TCPDump, Bash, Python, SQL, etc. Their virtual labs were so helpful. (I’m a beginner too)
@@Groovy_JS Yeah I can't wait to start it soon!
My brain is buzzing and I hope I can comprehend this in my mid life, because I’m not gonna stop trying!! Thank you for sharing your immense knowledge!
You got this!
I earned my CompTIA Security+ 3 weeks ago and completed my Google Cybersecurity course 3 days ago. Doing what is mentioned in this video now. Thank you for this Unix Guy! 🙏🏾
Nice work!
your content is exceptional. Thank you so much!

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! This is literally where I am at right now. Like mentioned by others, no one is sharing these.
I have been watching videos and doing research since I decided to pursue a career in cybersecurity and you were the first one I watched, and you keep it real! MASSIVE MASSIVE RESPECT!

Just cant describe in words how helpful you are.Respect++

Putting it in a generic CV is freaking brilliant!
👏🏻
Everyone tells to do very expensive certification like OSCP and CEH but no one tells these free and extremely good resources.
Thank you Sir

That Family Guy clip came out of nowhere!😂
😆
huge respect for introducing all these resources

I am a recent cybersecurity grad and this is by far some of the most useful information that I have received. Thanks for building a bridge.

In my late 30's looking for a career change. Always had a passion for Tech, but due do to circumstances and lack of information I never had the opportunity. You sir is like the mentor I never had or the friend that I wished I had in my earlier years. Thank you for everything you do and sharing your knowledge. Be blessed.
so glad to hear it! enjoy the journey my friend!
I'm in the same exact boat and I can feel you! Don't give up, we can do it!
Same here. I'm a game artist and I'm wanting a career change. I graduated IT but never got to use the skills that I learned.
Same here guys in the process of finishing google cert then I’m going do everything he mentioned
Best wishes. So, there are a lot of us in the same boat now :)

👏🏻
Thank you very much sir ... I am on my 3rd yr of Engineering degree . My passion is to get into Cybersecurity Field ...
You're my heroic guide for achieving that sir ❤️✨
👏🏻👏🏻
Fairly new to the Cybersecurity world, but watching your videos helps give me confidence to keep moving forward in this field and adding more to my skill set. Appreciate you!
Great to hear 🤝
I just want to leave a comment to say thanks. Finding a mentor is still difficult today and I'm trying to break into cybersecurity but still haven't found anyone interested in helping me. I'm Security+ and Network+ certified and I was a little bit stuck because I didn't know what to do next. I'm trying to find that first job to get some experience though. I see in all your advices through all your videos an opportunity to improve and find the right way to finally land that first job. It does make a difference what you do.
thanks for your kind words! go out there and crush it my friend 👏🏻
I have been trying to get my first job in cybersecurity and I found your videos…thanks for sharing this!
all the best
Compared to other avenues of information I have been looking at, you provide a very comprehensive view of how to get started and provide the best tips I've found. Hiring managers rock! Thank you so much for sharing the information.
my pleasure 🫡
You don't understand how much you helped my mind with this video. Thank you so much!!
Glad I could help 🫡
Thank you for mentioning tcpdump, that's something I use regularly to monitor customer traffic. I never thought to put it in my resume or profile. Also, those projects look very useful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your channel and your knowledge. Watching your videos for the past 2 weeks encouraged me to sign up for the Google cyber sec cert. thank you for providing a blueprint.
Wonderful!
I lost it when he put the family guy clip @ 0:47 after saying “kill two birds with one stone” 😂😂💀 thank you man this is solid info/content
😆 🙏🏻
Man I gotta tell you, I really love your channel. So much free game

Watching this made me realize that I made such a great decision to make you my RUclips mentor. I’m glad a couple of the skills mentioned here I’m currently going through them and super stocked that there’s more practice I can do in Coursera, HTB, and THM!!! You’re a stud man! I hope one day I can meet you in person and shake your hand!
thanks man and all the best, can’t wait to see where your journey takes you! hope we meet one day too 🤝
Thank you so much. I was starting to develop imposter syndrome due to my lack of experience. I spend most of time working as a pharmacy tech. I’m half way through the google cybersecurity certificate then sec+. These additional projects for my resume is great for experience and the resume.
You can do it!
THIS is the video that made me a new SUBSCRIBER! This industry is a puzzle because they emphasize experience, which these training provide, but REQUIRE the certs which are not as practical
awesome! some certifications have labs and
big practical components, those are the ones that I tend to recommend :)
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding cyber security guidance video you created. As a beginner in the field, I found your video to be incredibly informative, well-structured, and immensely valuable.

Once again, thank you for your exceptional contribution to the cyber security community through your insightful and inspiring video. I look forward to following your future content and continuing to learn from your expertise.
thank you so much for your kind words, this comment means the world, thank you for making my day! I really appreciate you and I hope that I’m able to be a small part in your journey 🙏🏻
Incredibly useful, thank you RUclips for suggesting this guy!
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for posting this! Your video is so clear and concise, the best one I've seen so far for us beginners. :)
Glad it was helpful 🫡
This is the type of content I was looking for literally no one gave me a clear roadmap like this. Thanks so much, feels like i've found a mentor 😇
Glad to hear it!
Thanks for being straight forward and not cryptic.
you got this 👏🏻
So you couldn't land a internship or anything while in school or after for 1.5 years?
Dude this is a crazy repository of information! Thank you! I myself have been lost on the first steps of this interesting career path and no other RUclipsr has broken it down so easily thank you thank you thank you!
glad you’re here my friend 🫡
Least I can do I buy the stuff using the websites you provided. Your honestly the goat thank you so much
thanks mate and good luck 🙏🏻
Thank you soooo much im almost done with the google cyber security cert and been building my linked in and im bee looking at various jobs confused as to where to get this experience they think every has and this is great
you got this 👏🏻
Wow! I've been looking for this for a while, but have never found it so detailed. Now I'll finally get pratical experience I've wanted. Thank you so much!!
my pleasure :)
thanks so much for this, im going to follow these projects in unison with my classes and after google cert, would love to see a video about intermediate projects you like in a future video!
for sure! good luck!
Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you, sir! This will help so many people
Glad it helped
Thank you so much! I just got my security plus and could tell by looking at the market that I definitely needed to do some projects to land any of these jobs! They talk about how in demand IT roles are yet fail to mention that it’s mostly mid-level jobs.
good luck!
this is actually really inspiring. I'm doing the google cyber cert on coursera rn and it feels like a giant waste of time. I spend half the time skimming through repeated instructions and duplicate learning modules , a quarter thinking about what im going to do once i finish the stupid cert and a quarter actually doing the work.
you’re definitely not wasting time, you’re learning the basics, you can build up from there :)
UnixGuy you are literally the best!!
🙏🏻
Working on the Google cert and THM. Goal is to have Security plus and in a job by the end of the year. Just started SOC 1 and it's full of knowledge
👏🏻👏🏻
I’ve been wondering when the real work would start. Thank you! I will work on these.
Best of luck!
Wow this is the best video I’ve seen about this topic in a while!!!!
🙏🏻
Glowing resume, good to know you're still able to get your Spiderman job done while also being a cyber security student
😅
Great info.. I just started by cyber journey . Learning Linux system administration,Microsoft administration , IBM cyber security analyst.. I will definitely do.these projects too..thank you 🙏
Best of luck!
