I LOVE Pigments. I am using the "Explorations Vol 3" packs 4 getting an idea whats this is about. But as usual some guidance from Jef is quite helpful! Thanks for sharing this!
What has been impressive about Arturia with Pigments is how they entered into the pure software synth game "late" yet managed to make a formidable synth that can stand proud with a number of synths that came before it. I remember at the time thinking that perhaps they approached this as "what if you could make your own dream synth using a number of different individual components". It's like a virtual hobby kit synth but drawing from any number of different components. Or modular without the modular. That's how I see it at least. Once again, I'm impressed with Arturia has done with Pigments and while I appreciate the free updates, I do like giving a little something with the new sound banks just to keep a good thing going =]
I agree! When it first came out I thought the same thing, but it’s growing into a powerful synth! Just needs more patches and an easy way to see when certain synth engines are used… just in the meta data/ tagging maybe…
Thank you for pointing out that once again Pigments 6 is a free update. I think it's very smart that Arturia shows their users some love and makes their flagship VST/AU a free update. I'm totally ok with paying for new V Collection or FX Collection updates as well as presets when they add new vintage synths or effects. It makes sense for Pigments to become a must-own synth especially as it is so friendly to program. If you don't already own Pigments you are missing out!
Great crash course for the new features! - Pigments has become quite a synth monster (of the good kind) over the years. And getting so many upgrades for free is such a delight for us existing users.
Arturia is literally the best in the game now. I purchased Pigment 3 for 69.99. Some kind of birthday discount I got at the time. I've since received all the upgrades right up to now for free. Outstanding
I just bought a Minilab 3 to replace my Native Instruments Kontrol M32 and was given an offer to buy this for $69, which I took. I am so shocked at how good other software is and how cheap after years of using NI software almost exclusively. It’s really bittersweet to get constant confirmation that NI is not competitive anymore. I can’t see any reason to pay $50 for a Play Series instrument when you can get a full software synth like this for not much more. And I have replaced all my NI hardware at this point as well, which is something I never thought I could live with. End of an era.
They have been upgrading for free for awhile now so I doubt it's a version thing. I think it's confusion over the crossgrade offer to buy the expansions. Pigments 6 is absolutely free to them@@jefgibbons
INCREDIBLY stupid decisions during designing of the workflow! 🤯 No PAN control of each sound source! Can you imagine that? Panorama control occurs ONLY inside Filters 🤡 Inability to modulate all Effects' parameters. No Uni/Bipolar modulation switching without switching the modulator itself. It's the same prob of Phase Plant but there you can easily solve it by duplicating modulator as many times as it's necessary. Idiotic "send effects" invention. It's better worth to make larger amount of Effects, like 5-6 in FXA and 5-6 in FXB. No Midi Random modulation - a common modulation that randomizes a parameter with each note but without deep adjustments, really often feature but there's none of it and INSTEAD they strewed a handsome of zero-useful Combinate modulators 🤡 No Modulation Remapping!!! HUGE fail of Frenchies 🤦🏻♂ I'm not even telling of inverted Modulation Remapping which is implemented in Vital, can be made in Phase Plant and seemingly is OUT of any comprehension by such "whales" like Arturia, u-He or overhyped Minimal Audio. 😑
Sorry but it’s not free, even for people (like me) that have Pigment 5 and V Collection X, and FX Collection 5 and everything else ever released by Arturia… they still ask 99 Bucks to update pigment.

Like your tune man! Finish it!
Wow - so glad I grabbed Pigments a little while back - go to dig into it and as a vocalist - have fun with the vocoder.🥳
Thanks for the video Jef, great overview and demo! I've been an Arturia fanboy since the V collection and Pigments just gets better and better!
Arturia is 🔥 always pushing the game. Updating to Pigments 6 for FREE tonight 🙌

@ Here’s to version 7 😉
Hey Jef - would be great to get a deep dive into the vocoder and/or maybe some comparisons with other soft vocoders 👍
Good idea!
Great job Jeff as usual man

Updated to 6 ! Jeff, always good looking ! 😊
Very excited about the new vocoder.
Downloading the update now. I love Pigments
Pigments is the best. It’s awesome how much they’ve updated it.
Oh YEAH, I’m bridging to pigments 6 tonight
Always a pleasure. 😎👍🏾

Jammin’ on the one.
Truth be told… my kid memory had it as “Jammer number 1” which I still think is cooler!😝
Vocoder sounds good!
I wish native instruments should of join forces with them cause I think both are good companies
Modal + Additive is really setting this apart
Hey jef, big fan, what scale were you in 4:33
I don't have tge sidechain tab on top? Is it your daw's tab or pigments?
aw Jef only you can deliver a fair and balance Vid on Bring out the best options for your audience to get triggered... Good job champ!
Thanks DM!
Hey man. Great work on your vids. You make a way better presentation to pigments than arturias promo videos. They need to hire you like 2 years ago..
Appreciate it!
Why free? I have all previous editions and on my account i had to pay 100 euros (instead of 200)
Good PR?
Just upgrade in the Arturia software center.
Yeah I thought I had to pay also, until I saw this video and subsequently went to the ASC and updated for free.
Yes, the web site is confusing on that point…. Arturia should update the site to point ASC for existing owners.
@@dreamline2007 I paid then I contacted Arturia and they refunded me the amount
I don't see how I can get it for free. I own pigments but they are requiring me to pay a cross grade fee
Never mind! I think. Think that is in regards to the expansions
Me too. 100 euros
Oh, perhaps it’s only free for version 5 owners?
@@jefgibbonsnot even… I have Pigment 5 with everything else that Arturia has released to date and yet it only offers me an update for 99 bucks…

unable to upgrade for free
Seems like is has super low latency and all! Ok Arturia!
