I went solo traveling for a month and a half this spring and Cannes was where I happened to end up after being so burnt out from staying up all night all the time and constantly doing stuff and meeting people and other travelers. Stayed in a hostel and I was literally the ONLY one in the entire place, and they gave me the room on the top floor with a balcony which I had all to myself. I made friends with the groundskeeper who said I reminded him of his daughter and spent the next 10 days just walking around the entire city and getting to know every part of it. I'd go grocery shopping and attempt to speak only French to the cashiers, walk up and down the shoreline looking at all the fancy beach clubs that I definitely couldn't afford to breathe near (I did treat myself to a pair of white French silk pajamas that I kept seeing in the window of the same store every day. it was like they were taunting me. I'm actually wearing them right now which is crazy and part of what sparked this comment), seeing how far I could get on foot on the same sidewalk. I literally LEFT Cannes at one point and was like oops. It was so cool to see the other, everyday life side of the city and not just the glamorous part (although I would LOVE to experience that one day). It was my 10-day break from the hustle and bustle of solo travel and I was alone the entire time, yet it was so peaceful and really made me reconnect with myself. I cooked meals for myself, drank coffee on the balcony of my room, attempted to write in a journal. I even met a guy in the laundromat down the street bc I couldn't figure out how to work the machines (everything was in French lol, and while I could speak a little I definitely couldn't read it). He showed me how and then literally came BACK half an hour later to see if I needed help with the dryer. He was local and literally invited me to dinner the next night but I was leaving in the morning :( Anyway, long comment lol but I LOVED your video and wanted to share my personal experience with Cannes! it was so cool to see some of the places I walked through every day in your video, and those stupid blue chairs that were actually pretty comfy lol (if they didn't have bird poop on them). Love you Eva, and so proud of how far you've come! - sincerely, a fan since 2014
