These video's are so depressing. The Der used to be such an amazing venue with wild old hump-backed mirrors mostly high 30's, 40's and quite a lot of 50's, not that the size matter's so much, but there was so much variation in the scale patterns and colours. I was lucky enough to have caught a few of those in 2003/2004 then the fish-kill happened. It happened because they drained the lake during the hottest year on record at the time and hundreds of thousands of huge carp died in pools of hot water with no oxygen. In their wisdom, the management stocked a load of cheap commons from a Dutch fish-farmer and (fuck knows why) a load of cat-fish that nobody wants to catch!! I don't care if the lake record is 90lb+, the venue has no appeal to me anymore. This guy obviously enjoyed his trip and lot's still do, I'm just having a moan.

Because it's not your target species, having them on the spot often hinders carp from eating on the bait, the catfish eat a lot of bait that's supposed to be for the carp, getting them out causes a lot of commotion and takes a while.. so all in all a lot of reasons. Had it once, no need for a second time..
The planning and cost involved, I’d be so disappointed with 1 20lb’er, those Catfish added to the trip massively and their treating them like it ruined it.......😏
@@timjoyce69 each to their own. I would be disappointed with a cat popping up on the other end attached to my line. Rather catch nothing with the chance of a carp feeding undisturben in the are where i'm fishing ready to take the hookbait. That's why it's called carp fishing not allround angling i suppose. But it depends a bit on scale as well.. if you have one cat in a week and apart from that nothing, it can be enjoyable as opposed to a blank.. but the people on Du Der catch lots and lots of cats and it must becomes quite annoying, especially at night like Andreas added. I can understand his emotions. Also yeah cats are not so nice for the equipment to be fair.. i mean you can bin your end game and your line will be twisted its quite hard to backwind these.. rod compression isn't healthy either and the axis of your real must be up for the job.. as i said one or a few might be ok but more is just too much to handle imo.
Because cats are muggy slimy meaningless fish that all look the same, are a massive inconvience, dissapointment, and nuiscence. If you go fishing for a species catch that species anything else is just a dissapointment. Once you have had one cat thats it. They are all the same.

i cant watch anymore it reminds me of when i messed my life up. picked as a marshal for world carp masters on lac du der. bailed due to anxiety and other reasons. lost my best mate who got me the position. never been the same since.

I have a serious problem with this film!.. I wish it was longer! No seriously great vid mozza as is always the case with your films! Defo could of watched this for a couple of hours tho! Looking forward to this year's rainbow trip tho, maybe that's a feature length film....

Great vid mozza, a lake that holds MANY memories for me as was luck to fish it regular late 80s early 90s, when to be fair it was an easy water to catch loads

I didn't mean to sound moody or cocky, just pointing it out... but yes it's a massive inland sea of a water to manage, and (in my opinion) the management have actually done a terrible job with the stocking policy... thousands of common's, no mirror's and a load of stinky old catfish!! ... but I've already had a moan about that somewhere else in these comment's!!
