This video should be called 'how expensive is the tourist area of London'. If you stay in the outskirts and eat there you'll save a lot of money. Also, if you're on a budget there's loads of free things to do - museums, art galleries, walking around (London is totally walkable and there are free walking tours), markets etc

    • @Leojw10

For me, being near the center of a city or at least in a particularly interesting neighborhood is preferable, though sometimes I'll stay somewhere that's cheaper and a little out of the way. But ideally I want to walk out of wherever I'm staying and find good restaurants, pubs, the main square, etc. within a fairly short walk, rather than being a long ways from the sights and having to take buses or metros a ways to get there and then again to go back to the hotel. So it's worth paying more for a central location. There are lots of ways to save money traveling and yes, location is a factor.

Hi Gabe, just thought I’d mention, because you were walking past it, I stayed right there in Sept. /23 at the London School of Economics and Political Science, (brick building to the right at the beginning of your video). In the summer, when the school is not being used for students, they rent dorm rooms that include a fabulous breakfast for about $75 Canadian ( In GBP the price would be 60% less). In the breakfast room there is bread, fruit, yogurts and cold cuts & cheese etc. that they allow you to take with you either for a snack for later in your room or a picnic lunch through the day. The residence has great security at night and the front desk is so helpful. The location is fabulous for sight seeing (right in the heart of London and safe area. I had a view of the shard from my window). You can’t beat that price for very expensive Central London for the budget traveller. Love traveling with you Gabe, your videos are so well done.

St. Pancras Station is where the Eurostar trains from London to Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels depart from.
I'm confused as to why you walked all the way from Victoria Station to London Bridge and then took a tube to St. Pancras? A direct walk from Victoria to St. Pancras would have been shorter and quicker.
If you arrive in Stansted airport next time, Stratford would be the best place to stay or arrive in London. It's in east London and only 20 minutes away by tube from Central London. There is a direct bus from Stansted Airport to Stratford for £12 and it only takes 50 minutes. Stratford is comparatively a cheaer place to stay than Central London.

Wow! £19.50 for a brunch breakfast. Thank goodness I live in the North where the same meal costs £8 including a mug of tea. Always look out for tourist and office worker-free areas when looking for a full English breakfast café. Office workers eat foreign muck such as avocado for breakfast 😢

Never been on the Tube despite working in London many times in the mid 90's. However, I did walk many miles of the Jubilee Line Extension as I was working on it (walking along it lol) , predominently at the Millenium Dome (O2 Arena) site before the dome was even built but also at Canary Wharf amongst other areas. Not many people have only walked the tube, not ridden in it, is my guess 🤣
I've never been back since as I didn't like London at all, the parts I stopped at anyway. Probably my fault for picking the "cheap" areas.

If you get a debit card like Monzo or similar that you can use internationally without additional charges, do NOT bother with getting an Oyster card. It’s not necessary and it’s cheaper to just use a bank card. And in almost all shops you can use a card, rather than cash. I cannot remember the last time I used cash in London.
And if you want to eat a good breakfast, leave the London Bridge area first. Go somewhere with fewer (or no) tourists.

Gabe, I hope you start a new series going through Africa…. so much to explore… most vloggers are stuck for months and years in Aisa, India, pakistan… Desi Chris, Luke D, Harald B… its all been seen… cheap but not new any more…the Dark Continent is waiting… Kenya, Madagaskar, Namibia, Congo… you are a very skilled traveler….. Go four it… it will change your life….
