she’s actually not flat at the end!! that part of the song is originally a duet and that’s the harmony part! she just singing it alone :)
She IS flat but it’s on purpose (because of what you mentioned above) and it sings like hot melted butter. Soooo much silk I love it more than the original actually.
Nah she is flat. She is slightly off the note but it’s kind of happening bc of the style of singing she does
The coach isn’t saying she’s singing the wrong note she’s saying that she’s singing under the note. It doesn’t matter that it’s a duet part, i know the song very well and Renee hits that note slight under in placement making her just slightly flat.
She technically is flat but it’s only cause it’s without Aaron and she probably just goes flat. A small mistake. That doesn’t need to be an overreaction. She does need to be a little higher I do agree. But it’s just a small mistake. And I’m friends with her lol

i think she’s absolutely incredible but i think that the reason she was flat when she was singing ‘fine’ was because she was singing regina’s part in the harmony between her and aaron, i think that she was meant to be flat but idk 🤷♀️
I think some people here in the comments don’t know what flat means in singing, she’s off (too low) the correct note - not singing a b flat or an f flat.

This is such a cool performance through and through. You mentioned her commitment and that is really what sells everything here. She does it so stylistically. You're right about her control with volume, vowels, and everything else. Whoever suggested this, GREAT CHOICE!

I love her so much! I just observed a masterclass with her and she's so talented, kind, and funny. She was also very helpful to everyone who performed and complimented all the performers! (10 people sung a cut from a song of their choice and she gave advice!)

I was actually wondering if you could give us a more in-depth explanation of how to manipulate vowels in order to sound deeper or lighter? I know it might seem a little self-explanatory but I think it's a lot harder when you try to put it into practice

Two queens in one video!!!! I was recently wondering how far "off" a note can be until it sounds sharp/flat. Like how many "cents" from the target pitch can one vary? Because it's pretty impossible to hit the exact pitch, e.g. 440 Hz for an A4...
Ali Mei I don’t know if there’s necessarily a certain amount of “cents” someone is off until they’re flat or sharp. I think as long as it’s pretty close and not noticeable, it’s considered on pitch. of course it would sound better if everything is exactly on pitch, but that’s almost impossible hahah.
but I mean if anyone knows the exact amount of cents it takes to make it seem “noticeable” as sharp or flat, that would be cool to know!!!
Ali Mei so you are right that there is a range of being in tune. i have a tuner for my trumpet and to be in tune i’m almost never at the center, i’m either to the left or the right, so you are right in saying that there is a range of frequencies that are considered to be “in tune”!
