    Osvaldo Cavandoli was born in Maderno, at the shores of the Garda Lake, in 1920. His family soon moved to Milan, where he grew up. He worked as a technical designer for Alfa Romeo between 1936 and 1940. At the age of 23, he went into animation and worked at the Pagot studios. Between 1950 and 1958 he was an independent producer and director of puppet-movies. As late as 1969 he created the character that would make him world famous: La Linea. This amusing character has appeared in a great many Lagostina advertising films and later independent films, which were broadcasted in over 40 countries, and have been awarded many times. Cavandoli made a comics version of his character for Il Giornalino in 1974. 'La Linea' reappeared on Italian television in 1997. In 2001, Cavandoli made a series of 20 films with his character for Universal Studios in the USA.
