I saw Allen Toussaint at about this same time at a club in MD, and I never thought I'd hear this detailed story of his youth ever again. But, here it is. Thank you for posting. I was extremely fortunate to have met him. He is a perfect gentleman and exudes absolute class....just like you see here. I walked away thinking 'I wanna be just like him...' )). Such an inspiration.
I just love this so much. It's been a favorite for several years now.
This reminds me of a road trip we took to OK to meet my fathers grandmother. She still lived in the small town my dad grew up in. No electricity, water pump in the kitchen and an out house. How I went over 24 hours without using the bathroom is still a mystery to me. .

I connect to this song so much. Those foundational memories, life is nothing without them. Brilliant. Some have film. Mr. Toussaint had his piano.
