I just did This and YEA YOU DO NEED TO BLEED THE LINES. Otherwise you will get a code. To put it into maintenance mode and bleed the braking system like any other normal car, you need to jump the 4 and the 13th pin in the OBD port with a copper wire and press the power button twice. DOnt start the car just press the power button twice, then you bleed away by opening the valve at each caliper.
Lights and Alarm noise GONE after installing new ABS unit.....Never had to clear codes or bleed system......everything feels Normal again!!! Funny thing....I actually purchased the Dealership Diagnostic Laptop JUST to bleed brakes.....but it honestly Doesn't need it....Lol......maybe during the summer when it's warmer out.
Everything was good except the last part but the important thing is you fix it. It’s not finished with clear the D.T.C.’s there is special way to do it. They call air bleeding, you can do with Autel scanner, don’t just buy any Autel. Before you purchase make sure it has that future. After air bleeding you have to do zero calibration initialize couple more things otherwise the lights coming back. I’m sure there is a way to do without scanner unfortunately factory training time they don’t show the short cuts.
To probably bleed this vehicle correctly, you need the Techstream software. It's not a normal system where you can just pump the brakes and bleed it. The rear brakes can only be bleed correctly with the ABS motor running. Since this is a hybrid the front brakes are completely tied into the hybrid system, the ABS motor relays need to be taken out (both of them), activate the proper line via Techsteam then bleed it. The way how this person in the video did it was wrong, that's why all that fluid shot out from the front caliper because the ABS motor was running. When you replace the ABS assembly most likely you have to reprogram it as well.
God bless you..thanks your clear video and share your thought ..i have same problem with my 2006Toyota highlander highbred model ..Can i use your same step?i think all are similar? Thanks
There are two ways to bleed: Invalid Mode and Techstream. I suppose you need a mini vci and techstream to bleed after a job like this - to clear the codes primarily.
