I'm not the biggest Will Ferrell fan but he and Mark Walberg have a rare chemistry that makes this movie a real treat. This is a very underrated comedy but it is hysterical.

Stranger Than Fiction is my favorite Will Farrell role. His mix of serious and comedy is absolutely perfect in that film.
Less appreciated than all his other roles but in it he has the most range as an actor and he's incredible. On top of that it's a ridiculously good movie. More people need to see it.
I thought that would have been his Tom Hanks turning point and I am really sad it wasn't
I don't even see that as a comedy. Just a REALLY good movie that kinda warmed my soul.

After seeing the end credits, I wasn't surprised to see that Adam McKay's (director /cowriter) next project was "The Big Short" - a film which takes you into the financial crisis of 2007-2008. It's really entertaining with a fantastic cast. I highly recommend it.
Yeah, that was the theme of the movie that many missed. That we make action movies where the bad guys are drug dealers, terrorists, or criminals trying to rob Fort Knox, where cops like these destroy major parts of a city (and presumably kill many) just to stop them. Meanwhile the people are being robbed blind by corporations and bankers. That the movie wasn't as successful as other Ferrell outings assured that The Big Short (and later, Vice and Don't Look Up) would be made.
This is one of the more original comedies I've ever seen and it's saying a lot given how common buddy cop comedies are. I especially love the whole comparison of real life detective work and movie action cop semantics. That's very clever and yes, mostly paperwork and filing vs explosions and depth defying stunts.
The wife is played by Eva Mendes, who in real life is married to Ryan Gosling.
They aren't married. Doing a Kurt Russell/Goldie Hawn thing. It's working.
The woman who hit on Will at the basketball game was Brooke Shields, a model/actress who shot to fame in the 80s.

You guys should check him out in Punisher: War Zone, another movie based on a Marvel character. He got noticed among the mainstream audiences with his character of Titus Pullo in Rome, an HBO original series set during the later years of the Republic before Caesar returned from war and crossed the Rubicon with his army, which at the time, was an illegal act and that which solidified his rule as imperator (dictator).

The Basketball Diaries is the best movie Mark Wahlberg has been in. Back in the 90's, him and Leo DiCaprio did an amazing job in that movie. Must watch.

Like with most Will Ferrell comedies, it takes me a time or two to fully find them funny - but, once I do, they are HILARIOUS and so quotable! Now, The Other Guys is one of my favorite movies!!! For more Will & Mark, watch Daddy's Home 2 (the first one is kind of lame, but the sequel is so great AND a Christmas movie). Please watch Blades of Glory: Will Ferrell as an ice skating Olympic hopeful. I love Michael Keaton in comedies but most people nowadays only know him for Batman and Beetlejuice! So, please watch Multiplicity, Mr. Mom, and Johnny Dangerously. Eva Mendes (the "plain" wife) is great in Hitch (Will Smith) and Out of Time (Denzel Washington). The Rock was in Get Smart (Steve Carell) - it was based off a 60s tv show but I think it's still pretty good for those who haven't seen the show. PS I've never seen Amber so sleepy - her head nodded a COUPLE of times lol
