    This stuff drives me nuts! I long for the good old days of collecting SNES stuff on eBay in the late 90s and early 00s. So happy I got most of my stuff when it was just plain old "expensive", like $100 for boxed Chrono Trigger etc. The most I ever paid was $150 for Earthbound cart only, with a big scratch on the label. Prices will probably continue to rise as the SNES generation gets richer and richer and will probably peak when we're all about 70 years old haha

    • @christophergibbs6965

      I remeber being in a local shop about 7-8 years ago and they had earthbound just the cart for $350

    Man, still bummed I had to sell off my SNES collection in 2004. I had Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III, and Super Mario RPG all CIB (not to mention everything else I don't want to even dwell on).

  • @stephenison5703
    @stephenison5703 Год назад +1

    I actually have Chrono trigger so if you want to buy it and if you live in Florida go on offer up because that's the safest place to actually get what you pay for instead of getting scammed on eBay or any other shady websites. And believe me this guy is right because there was only a certain amount of these rare gems out there 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Wow! That is crazy how much those games are now!!
    I still have my original Eathbound box/cart/guide that I got when it first came out, the guide is a little beat up but I’m still glad I have them. I also got Chrono Trigger game and manual for $10 my senior year in high school (‘01). These are games I’ll never willingly get rid of. It is so crazy their worth now!

    I have most of these on either VC or in a compilation. Not ideal from a collector POV, but it was much cheaper that way.

      You should try out Batman's Return, but this time it's not with the Joker, instead we get the Penguin and Catwoman for villains, and at one stage you get to drive the Batmobile as a bonus...
      The price was decent where I got this game, between 60 $$ CDN to 80 $$ CDN...
      Totally worth the money...

    The sellers come from all walks of life these games can be found in the most random places. The reason why price is what is is hype and nostalgia. But you can find an old person cleaning out there ___ for dollars. I’ve found the majority of these game in thrift stores and garage sales. I’m keeping them but people try to hit ppl in the head with these dumb prices

  • @commentresurrection1841
    @commentresurrection1841 2 года назад +1

    I have never heard more people cry about prices in a hobby than in retro gaming. This compared to so many other hobbies is considered cheap. Even for the average person you can obtain a great collection without spending a fortune still in 2022. If you cant afford it than emulate or repro it.

    Do you feel these games prices will continue to rise through the years? Or they have reached their limit? I happen to have Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger, all three CIB in really decent condition, but people are bidding a lot more for them on ebay, than the website you were comparing with for this video.

    Shadow run, Super Metroid, super castlevania, super contra are pretty costly too. I see them $80 in Canada. There’s other really expensive games out there. Castlevania Dracula X, aero fighters, final fight guy, lufia rise of the sinistrals, and some Japanese game that came to the us that AVGN/Mike Mattai reviewed. I wouldn’t pay the crazy amounts that aero fighters is worth lol you could buy a 1/2 gold eagle for that bad boy Ahhaha

      Sure is, I found a legit Aerofighter carts recently but I couldn't get my hands on it since I thought the price was crazy and I didn't have that kindda money they were asking, the price was the type that I could even buy myself a brand new gaming computer instead of an Aerofighter SNES cart, they were just asking too much...

  • @Packattack9204
    @Packattack9204 2 года назад

    Earthbound being fun/awesome has nothing to do with its value. It didn’t sell particularly well, and the print run was limited. Less inventory generally equates to higher value.
    The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is worth maybe $40 loose. It’s one of the greatest games of all-time. Earthbound being worth 8-10x more doesn’t mean it’s a better game; it means it’s more scarce.
    You might want to include commentary on that when you’re making videos highlighting expensive games. Maybe a game came later in the system’s lifecycle, maybe it didn’t sell well, maybe it was a variant of some type, etc. How “awesome” a game is hardly ever factors into the value.
