    A good friend of mine from Chicago turned me on to Sven, I miss shows like this. I lived in Virginia in the early 90's and we had Dr. Madblood which was similar, I also remember watching some kind of Kung Fu theater in the 80's. Good times and TY for this video!!!

    • @eternalise
      @eternalise 3 года назад +1

      Whereabouts in VA? I think I watched the Kung Fu theater show you speak of, though I don't recognize Dr. Madblood right off. I've been trying to find some old independent TV things I watched in the 80s/very early 90s; I lived in southwest VA so we got an almost equal divide of New River Valley area VA radio and TV and NC Triad area stations, one of which I want to say was channel 5 (OR 45 UHF) that had an afternoon kids block of programming hosted by an Ernest P. Worrel-esque character who wore a baseball cap with the bill flipped up and his catch phrase was "Toooo funny!", his sidekick was a puppet inside of an arcade game cabinet and I'm pretty sure there was a small audience, though I could be misremembering that.
      I've never been able to find any info online about either that show (can't remember his name) or the channel it was on, which iirc also played the Kung Fu movies as well as Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, 3 Stooges etc. My Uncle, aunt and cousins lived in Chicago and visited a few times a year which I always looked forward to and I always loved, even back then, seeing other areas' TV and had a world band radio I loved. I also remember some in-house written/produced/acted shows that came on UNC's college TV station NCTV that seem to have vanished from the earth, like "Good News, Bad News" (like a college Spin City) and "Live at 8" (a sketch show) as well as a Naked Gun-esque Private Detective movie (it may have been a series) that they ran constantly (I want to say it was called something like "Nick Danger" but that's Firesign Theater and despite it being a crime-noir sendup I doubt they had the budget to license that character as it was shot on video)... Anyhow, thanks for any help anyone can give who may have also lived around VA/NC.

      @@eternalise idk where I was when Kung Fu theater was on, but Dr. Madblood was either Pembrook or Norfolk and the apartments I lived in at the time were named Columbus Station I believe, it was not long after FOX became a channel, and the same guy that played Madblood did the FOX kids morning show dressed as a wizard with a purple wizard hat and someone dressed as a big ass fox.
