I'm from Siliguri. :) Many people don't know about my city and its' importance. Our city is like a fort. We are surrounded by army camps, runways, tanks etc. I can see jets, helos, tanks, artillery if I go for a ride at surrounding area of my city.
Siliguri, Bagdogra, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar are some the most beautiful places to visit... Gangtok is just breath taking. All areas mentioned have Defence personal in full alert. Many parts have Defence bases.
Central government should invest more in North East and Assam, so that it can become a major hub. Direct flight access should be initated to all major cities of NE from Delhi.
We need a few dedicated underground Roads for troop movements. Connectivity shouldn't be hampered. It will be a bit expensive but we'll need it in future.
The most shocking thing was that chins ne upper Subansiri district mei ek village khara kar diya... humare desh mei koi aur ghar basa raha h aur politicians kya kar rha h... negligence of NORTHEAST region will cost India later on... Indian leaders are so selfish and careless when it comes to NORTHEAST...
And I am from darjeeling and I understand the importance of it. Bengal govt gives zero importance to this particular area because of Nepali(Gorkha land movement).
Bangladesh gives all facilities to india. Like port, road, and other transit facilities. Bt india always gives to us disappointed. Even india not gives us river water. Bt when flood flowing river they all gate open their river dam.
Road connectivity is not good till Sikkim. Sikkim also shares its border with China and Nepal. Road is the main means of transportation to the Sikkim borders but it is impossible for Indian Army for fast movement to borders if in future there is any clash between China. Sikkim highway is always neglected.
I have but one suggestion don't use the term mainland it makes us feel like we are ostriched from the other parts of the country because I have heard the term mainland a lot in the context of china and hongkong. Nothing but love
From china point of view more important is 120km sea strip between south tip of Andaman known as Indira point and Indonesia which is connected to south China Sea through strait of mallacca. .. this corridor is bottle neck for Chinese commercial shipping as well chinese navy movements to Indian ocean... India should think very seriously to strengthen southern most little Adaman island by strong Indian navy and air force bases.. such activities ease the chinese pressure on our Northern boundaries. ..

Research and development ( science & Technology) is most important for india to strengthen its border. Without advance equipment our army can't protect our border if our enemy is like china. not only buy but produce home made advance weapon or equipment. we are worst in R&D
India is not cooperating on Teesta projects which are damaging the millions of people in that particular region. Hence we have to accept the Chinese offer to fix the problems which are occurring because of West Bengal policies. If that move making India uncomfortable, we have nothing to do. We waited a long time more than 20+ years to fix these issues with India.And it's time to be practical for us.
That region of West bengal share border with Nepal and Bhutan besides Bangladesh makes west bengal the most vulnerable state(Chinese attack+ Rohingya).
Just like it is racism to call North East people Chinese, it is also racism to call Nepali speaking Indians as Nepalese Immigrants or Bengali speaking Muslims Bangladeshi immigrants. The Corridor is well guarded, there is no demographic change there in comparison to Assam or Gaur part of Bengal. Wikipedia or any site will speak the same. These small details may not be important for StudyIQ but may ruin peoples' lives.
"Infrastructure " is key. All govts of India never cared about infrastructure. They say Sikkim is Switzerland of India. Any visitor know how bad is road and connectivity in Sikkim. So sad.
All these are happening because our leaders were and are blind of the dangers of the Chinese until very recently. Our netas were busy fighting, insulting and destabilizing eachother,when china was busy surrounding our country with its investments and structures. India should wake-up soon.. this shows how important development is not only military spendings. I hope this will be a lesson to all Indians how important the northeast is to India as a frontline against the aggression of china.

Nepal analysis - Araniko Highway connects Kathmandu with Tibet, and it does not run east to west. It is merely 100KM long. This is wrong information. This is lifeline for Nepal when India imposes Economic Blockade. (1990, 2015 and more future blockades). See the quality of road - India never let make all weathered road in Northern Nepal for its so called strategic interest. So, undeveloped Nepal is in India's best interest. ....... River connecting projects - India wants to build high dams over Koshi so that it can control flood in Bihar, Irrigate its dry southern states, and make river transportation possible - On the expense of inundating many cities and villages of Nepal. ...............
