Lets just call it mountain gravel or gravel mountain or a hybrid r+ since its higher end than backnin the day hybrids hence the "+" and more of a road bike hence the "R"
And besides that, just compare MTB and Gravel geometry for one second... Extremely different bikes for different purposes. This "you got an MTB now" stuff ist not very creative
@TrickyTree84 tbh for hills im slightly disappointed on my gravel gears 40 t with a 10-44 in the cassette for steep dirt trail uphills. But i also love hills and lowered my crank rings on both my MTB's by 2 teeth. i have a aftermarket E-Thirteen casset that will make it a 9-45 but i dont think 1 tooth will help enough. So ill drop 2 teeth on the chainring also. I dont think they make a 39 tooth anyways and i might regret not going down 2 teeth first at least. If this dont work ill have to go mullet and put a mtb casset and derailleur. But i should be fine. I like these closer range gears anyways for only a couple to a few pounds of tools and water bottles
After riding a stiff gravel bike for some time, I think that the same exact frame geometry with 30-40mm hydraulic fork or maybe leaf-based Lauf fork is a sweet spot for me. I still enjoy my trail / enduro MTB, but gravel bike feels so different, like a different sport. It’s very relaxing and fast, and front suspension would make it more comfortable and capable on the trails I want to explore in the future. I’m still enjoying it with 40mm tires and will reduce PSI further, but I can certainly imagine advantages of a short travel fork with rebound damper. Hell, I now understand why would someone want a dropper post on a gravel bike. I want it myself and it’ll be very useful for harsher trails. I’m not interested in MTB hardtail or lightweight XC bike. For those who don’t get it - the difference in position and feel due to geometry between gravel and XC is much greater than between XC racer and enduro MTB.
So I'm looking to build a crux with this fork as well. How drastically do you feel the geometry change going from rigid to this fork? The fox is 435mm vs the 401mm of the stock fork. Also curious if the 45 vs 50 sweep makes much of a difference also!! Love the content keep it up!
FOR THE SMALL TRAVEL OF THE FORK AND THE PRICE PLUS BETTER TO KEEP REGULAR FORK WITH 650B 42 48 AND YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME EFFECT.JUST THROWING MONEY OUT OF THE WINDOW
With the added bonus of more comfy geometry (depending on the bike) and drop bars! Even if closely resembles old school MTBs, it's good to see that design modernized instead of being buried forever by today's higher travel XC, downhill, and everything in-between MTBs
This and a mtb have extremely different geometries, creating a more adequate position for each of their intended purposes (i.e riding fast through rougher terrains and tighter turns or riding over longer distances on not very rough terrain at a faster pace). That also explains the difference in travel of the forks
Yes, noticeably raises and slackens the front, had to adjust the saddle tilt to compensate. The slacker head angle does give slightly slower steering which is no bad thing when coupled with the extra capability of the suspension fork
If you use it as gravel bike, it is a gravel bike, your hravel bike. If you are more comfortable and happy, well done!! The evolution of bycicles never stop so better be open minded 😉
I remember when rock shox first came out and they were banned in racing because the judges thought it was cheating. Now look at the industry. Everything has suspension
Actually a hardtail, with drop handlebar. I remember those miserable 40-50-60 mm moving forks. Maybe I take my oldshool Schwinn Woodlands, to make a gravel. 🤔
Cyclist be like; we are fooled by industry in straight away by taking the shit of gravel concept. Gravel term is created-->evolution causes gravel bike to be hardtrail MTBs or hybrid-touring bikes. I am not against gravel but there is a point here that should be considered. GravelBikes=DropBar equipped MTBs
Well done, you got urself a mountain bike.
Lets just call it mountain gravel or gravel mountain or a hybrid r+ since its higher end than backnin the day hybrids hence the "+" and more of a road bike hence the "R"
Who cares? Cycling is about fun not about what category you put your bike in
And besides that, just compare MTB and Gravel geometry for one second... Extremely different bikes for different purposes. This "you got an MTB now" stuff ist not very creative
With drop bars and gravel gearing and about 3kgs lighter

Wait till they rediscover external cable routing and rim brakes

And full circle to 90's mountain bikes.
Oh Lord.....why?! I've been saying exactly the same thing for years. Remember when mtbs had 50mm of travel!!
Thats why I bought a 1998 cannonade super v with 60mm suspension travel for $100 instead of this stupidity
@@alexp.2176you sure it’s not because you’re poor? 😂
"At what point becomes a gravel bike,
a mountain bike with a drop handlebar..."
You're a mountain bike Harry
-Hagrid Exclaimed
Why are they on backwards 😂
There not
@@mtbhillbilly okay 👍🏽 Google it
Dt swiss are built the same. Its correct.
Important is where the clippers are placed. In front and they could get ripped off on a hard braking.
It is backwards to maintain rights head tube angle ;)
That fork can barely take the edge off the impact of your tread pattern.😂
is this do to tuning or incorrect fork
Somehow Interstellar music fits with every video on RUclips!
How much more comfortable was it? What's the weight penalty? And is it actually slower?

This proves bikes are like fashion more than art.
Than it's gonna be rear suspension and a circle is completed
Time traveled to the 90's
1992 Paris Roubaix
Gravel ...marketing trapped you
FOR THE SMALL TRAVEL OF THE FORK AND THE PRICE PLUS BETTER TO KEEP REGULAR FORK WITH 650B 42 48 AND YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME EFFECT.JUST THROWING MONEY OUT OF THE WINDOW
Man, i'd be looking at a nice carbon hardtail at this point
This video inspired me to quit smoking weed, thanks.
😂😂😂
Thatcher fork looks depressed. It's just not right, proportion-wise.
That’s more mountain bike than my 1995 Kona! 😂
By this point it could just be a mtb with road bars and shifters
Worked wonders for Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle
1/2 “ of suspension, well done 👏
Reinventing the mountain bike, can’t wait to get good old cable television back
With the added bonus of more comfy geometry (depending on the bike) and drop bars! Even if closely resembles old school MTBs, it's good to see that design modernized instead of being buried forever by today's higher travel XC, downhill, and everything in-between MTBs

I think I’d rather go with a suspension stem & seatpost if I need some comfort on a gravel bike.
So it’s a mountain bike then ? Mind blown 🤯
My mind is bent... are they backwards or is that how their supposed to be? Walking down stairs to look at my factory 32's .. definitely backwards..
They’re supposed to be like that, the break caliper is in the correct position. They just put the arch behind the stanchions instead of in front.
@@onegrapefruitlover It's the correct way around.
Manitou and dt Swiss build some of this forks
It’s the 32 AX. It’s correct.
its look like the first mazochi fork 4 26" bikes whitout the chantilever brakes
To be honest I love the concept of Gravel Bikes but this is really not needed... that fork is a joke
Crux with Fox Floats 😎.
Hi @davidarthur , is it a tapered fork in a straight head tube? If so, could you pls advise on the adapter used? Thx!
A better fit for gravel bikes is the head shocks like those from specialized during the 90s paris-roubaix race
I have a Rudy on my Sage, and I like it a lot. It has a lockout if I want.
I’m considering this but concerned about skewing the geo and causing wheel flop. How much has the handling changed on your bike?
@@sharkmentality9717 I'm sure it does but what size frame is your crux? I'd like to compare the head tube length with the Fork crown length. Thanks!
Any noticeable change to the geo/handling?
Yes, noticeably raises and slackens the front, had to adjust the saddle tilt to compensate. The slacker head angle does give slightly slower steering which is no bad thing when coupled with the extra capability of the suspension fork
You drink whole team's beer

Gravel con horquilla.... que será los siguente... llamarlo MTB??
Excellent ride!
what brand and model of bike?
As long as you are not racing you are not bound to any rules. You can do anything as much as you want to your bike
what a bummer.... reinventing front suspension...
will hit your frame when its bottom out?
Excelent
Now get 30mm of rear travel to go with it. You can never have just one squish lol
I remember when rock shox first came out and they were banned in racing because the judges thought it was cheating. Now look at the industry. Everything has suspension
They Drop down?
Nice hardtail.
Do these shocks have a lockout mechanism for when you don’t want it to squish?
Yes they do, this one has three settings - open, firm and closed
Why did u install the shockbreaker in reverse?
Thats the onlybway to mount it. Its fox's fault... their idiots for fashion
For the love of God, just put a drop bar on an hardtail mtb.
Exactly! An XC MTB is what this is!
Hans Zimmer 😧
If I went back in time and saw the shock absorber in 1991...
It's a speed bike turning into a mountain bike...😂😂😂
For a minute i thought that was a MCR 9 RDO
Actually a hardtail, with drop handlebar. I remember those miserable 40-50-60 mm moving forks. Maybe I take my oldshool Schwinn Woodlands, to make a gravel. 🤔
Good thing i kept my SC Superlight
This is cursed that is now a mountain bike
Was thinking of buying one to try out since I have a fox discount 😅
That’s a mountain bike with road bars
Ready for dropper bar sends
“It’s average”
Wtf is this suspension how you get it man
Pump forks lol 😂
The fork is backwards. ???😢
I'd rather buy a XC Hardtail at this point.
Big flipping deal! Do you want a brownie button now?
Une fourche sert avant tout à descendre en absorbant les chocs.. mais pourquoi pas pour soulager les chocs sur le plat, sauf que ça pompe
Manitou+fox🥶
Comme Le vélo de G Duclos Lassale 1993 paris Roubaix
And 1992 Paris Roubaix. Franco Ballerini was not happy about that.
You’ve got it the wrong way around ?
La suspensión está a revés?🤔
Good rider ❤
I wish I had suspension on my bike 😂
Al final volvemos al mountain bike
Remember its not how much you have its how you use it
MTB with drop bars
Vamos a pintar toda la casa!!
eventually it will all evolve to mountain bike and road bike . just like crabs
Dear god… They’re evolving! 😅
What happens to your frame when the forks bottom out? 😂
I think he’d get a cleaner cut if he sharpened that bridge. OK, I suppose the gap is just barely enough to spare the frame…
Everyone is such a hater. I love it ❤!!
Hermosa bicicleta de montaña
Why would you have 15 millimeters of travel

Why mess with Interstellar???
Hahahaha that's a lot of travel😂
Con una gomma così,a che serve una forca con 20mm di corsa....soldi buttati
By brain just died
I think i like it 😂
Just get an MTB at that point.
Repetir conmigo graveleros,,:
se llama mountain bike.,,
absurdas modas.,.
Woooow do much Travel. He could travel back trough time 😂😂
5mm travel?
At what point do you just accept owning several bikes?? Enduro, cross, road, tri…. Etc…. One shoe for all is weird ;)
Why?
Ты куда Одиссей, от жены и детей?
I think gravel bikes tried to solve a problem that mountain bikes already did years ago 😂
Forks are backwards
this is kima coting lmao
