"Who doesn't want more power?" Anyone who has the base engine and a manual transmission, probably. Rowing the gears is part of the joy of driving...and the higher the power, the less driver engagement in day to day driving.
Amazing you can get a little more power than the 991.2 GTS by doing this tune for two grand! Does this negate your warranty? I mean the dealer can tell it was flashed even if you flash it back to stock no? I APR tuned my Audi and it was great, but it was already out of warranty so I didn’t worry about the warranty thing.
yes you loose warranty but the power increase and performance is worth it in my book. my T had 11 months warranty left so i went woth apr tune, they offer to cover the remaining warranty you have for addironal $1000 which is worth it.
The engines are exactly the same between the Base, S, and GTS engines. Only change is the turbos and cooling. The tune may wear out the turbos sooner, but the engine shouldn't really be effected since its close to GTS power level.
Just like my old 996 turbo... Porsche should optimize the turbo from the factory .....at that price point, why should the owner have to dump $2000 into a tune.........
The Carrera T was a weird model. It did not seem to offer much if any difference compared to a base 991.2. The gearing is slightly different? Ok. The alleged weight savings is comical. Just get a base and tune it or keep it stock.
Look up the 964 RS and see the similarities to the T. The T is unique in that it comes standard with all of the desirable performance options and the weight savings quoted is vs. a standard Carrera without all of the standard options the T has.
The T has options only availeble on the S and not on the Base. So if you like those option you need a S or a T. Of course the Base model is a very cool car like every Porsche
The 2 grand tune is a win win for an extra 100 hp!
Yep, its next on the list
Anything with a turbo is well worth a remap/tune
Good point
That looked fun! Looking forward to seeing you rip around with yours tuned...
Me too
I'm torn on keeping my T and tuning, or flipping it for a 20k profit (from what I paid a year ago) and moving up to a GT3... huge dilemma.
a GT3 would be very tempting. You could always buy back a T
@@GlennsCarCollection Maybe, maybe not. They only made about 600 manual T's. They make thousands of GT3's each year. :)

The Type R thought you guys wanted to play 😂
Ha ha, Yes !
You only have 1 hand to hold your steering wheel?! Nice to see that you are really convinced of your driving skills…
Always!

I am sure you lose your warranty

How much extra wear and tear is there on the engine and other parts with a tune? Does this dramatically shorten the life of the car?
I am not sure, I am sure the more dramatic the mod, the shorter the engine life
@@GlennsCarCollection What parts of the engine will get worn down first with a tune?

Glenn, how much of the delta between your base and his T are the gears vs the tune?
I think its mostly the tune. I have driven stock T's before and the shorter gears wasn't as noticeable
Awesome vid, thanks Glenn!
Glad you enjoyed it. thank you for letting me drive it
Wilkman96 gmail if you want to sell the car
Did it seem as fast as that 997.1 Turbo Cabriolet you drove recently?
Great question, I would say the 997.1 Turbo is faster but the power band is more narrow. This Carrera T had power over a larger rev range
Amazing car and video
Thanks!
Wow, amazing car
I love it
Awesome car!
It sure is!
Great car
it was

Good point. 996 Turbo is an awesome car
beautiful
Yes !
Tune your carrera!
this drive pushed me over the edge. Searching tunes now

that is why I bought a base for myself
