This week, Damian’s Porsche 911 993 C4S that he bought from Scotland is FINALLY ready to be collected and enjoyed. But what shape is it in? And has the work been successful?
This car has been with First Choice Detailing for a full paint correction process to ensure that the sumptuous Forest Green Metallic paintwork is restored to showroom condition.
And of course there’s the question of THAT REAR WING.
Has the TechArt spoiler remained, or is the factory standard one back on? Could the paint be saved and improved? Were there any other defects with the car? What were the challenges faced by FCD in restoring the paint of this car? All these questions and more will be answered in this week’s episode.

Forty years ago, 16-yr-old me would say “keep the tech art wing” 😉 but now I’d vote for the original.
Looks fantastic Damian. I did have to laugh when it started raining after all the effort that had gone in to making the car look mint. Torn on the spoiler, love the original look but then the spoiler also adds quite a unique look!

Personally I'd keep the Techart spoiler on, Looks like they've done a really good job on the paint correction, all for £1700, makes Topaz look very expensive.

The green really is a great colour for it. For what it’s worth, I would put original lid back on. But if it was me, I would enjoy it as it is for a couple of months and worry about the lid during winter.

Definitely original wing AND original orange blinkers at the front. Those aftermarket white ones don't look right, especially with the green paintwork.

Original spoiler without a doubt. This wing belongs to a Turbo, not to C4S.
Car as it is now is a much better looking car. Spolier would stay but its not my ride......

Lovely refresh, looks fantastic. Go for the original engine cover, try the wet sanding because the colour is factory, and difficult yo match. Respray if you have to, but I love that colour on the 993, never seen it in the flesh, a true unicorn colour especially here in Canada. Cheers mate, enjoy.

Great job. Looks good with the current wing so just down to your personal preference. Uncomfortable viewing with the watch and metal bracelet dangling precariously over your newly polished paintwork!

Not the entire internet, I'd keep the techart spoiler. Lovely car, if only some twat hadn't put the steering wheel on the wrong side. I bet there was right balls up in the factory over that one. Hope you got a good discount for the damages!

If it was my car I would refit the original wing, after paint correction. If that doesn't work one could then go for a repaint. That Techart wing is an utter monstrosity to my eyes, looking like a commercial barbeque or a piece of HVAC equipment.

Porsche 993 S is the best looking car ever made. No ifs and buts. That's the one.
I like the original look but I also like the aftermarket wing. Don’t succumb to peer pressure, do what you thinks right.

I've a 1996 993 C2 iris blue metallic, 66,000 miles, 6-speed manny tranny, varioram. No CEL, no oil leaks. I'm never selling it.

Damien doesn’t the original 4s spoiler have one full grill and the 2s have twin grilles? If so is your original original? Was it on the options list?
Someone has just switched in the 2S grill. Easy to do, loads of people do it.
Ha always rains after washing a car. Lucky your cars aren’t garage queens. Other “influencers” would put it inside a closed trailer and tell us how good it is to drive ....🙄

For me, I put the original split grill lid back on. That's what makes the C4S special, the split grill. And also, the look from the rear without the big wing is even more aggressive. I was never into all these outrageous tail on the 911 with exception of the original whale tail where it look good from all angles, esp. the side. When the 993 came out with the RS, it was beautiful, the tail and that special subtle front side spoilers. Then came the RSR and the look was dreadful. The front side air scoops and the even worse looking tail.
Anyhow, the work done is amazing! WOW!

Get that Techart thing off asap, and change the gear knob to original or get an aftermarket, non porsche stylish knob. A Boxter knob just doesn´t belong in this car! - Replace the worn seat centers with leather basket weave in beige/green. Replace those black carpet mats with originals. Maybe get a dry ice treatment of the underside and engine bay, for your viewers? Love the car and love the color. Lucky man.
Really like that colour combo, so much nicer than all the sliver or grey 993’s out there. And definitely repaint that OG deck lid and get if back on there 👍

Cracking job, looks the nuts. personally I like the techart spoiler so I’d be leaving that on, and perhaps get the O.G one reconditioned for if ever I changed my mind or sold the car.
FWIW, I like the wing. I'm not a big wing fan, but that one looks cool to me and makes the car look more special, IMO.
Wondering, have you ever driven a Lotus Carlton? Heard a lot of them back in the day but they are super rare over here across the pond...

This is really very ,very good outstanding job done .Looks brilliant.
I bought a machine polisher and used Meguiars products and online tutorials to basically do this to my old ‘Datsun’ and the results were amazing… no doubt you got a professional job done at a professional price but it is possible to achieve a very close result at home for a fraction of that cost.

Great improvement looks amazing but why is the detailer wearing a dive watch and wristband whilst working on your car ? These are a no no in a body shop.

Looks incredible. I’d get the original lid back on, but not repainted, just buffed to the same state as the rest of the car. Also, are you going to get the leather seats brought back to life? That would finish it off. Get that David Dickinson tan removed and give it some love too!
@Richard Jones .. +1. . My $.02 cents also, install the original engine deck lid. . The OEM Split Grill deck lid shown "off the car" is not original to the Carrera C4S 4wd models, however was original to the Carerra C2S 2wd model 993. . Ditch the goofy winged deack lid, replaceing it with an original C4S deck lid .. The shade of green color looks fantastic on the 993 coupe. .. Super well done. .. Signed an original '98 Carrera C2S owner.. (Arctic silver w/black full leather)

Enjoyed this, I keep thinking about getting my 15 year old yellow S2000 paint corrected but I use it for fast road driving and I don't want to feel too paranoid about stone chips. Once a car is perfect, it becomes stressful maintaining it!

I can appreciate the love this man has for the 993...I leased a 95' 993 midnight blue w/grey graphite from 98-99
and turned it in after lease expired...The exceptional mark this Porsche hit resonates within so deeply compared
to the 4 other Porsches i've owned...Nothing comparesd to the 993 IMHO...style, air and driveability has no rival
I recently purchased a 2000 996 C2 in phenominal shape and maintenance and altho it is a nice car it is not a 993

Tech-Art wing. Reminds me of my friend in Philadelphia that drove a yellow 1997 911 Turbo S. At that time I had a 928GTS and my other friend had a blue BMW 850csi. Those were the days...

Ditch the wing. The 993 C2 and C4S are, for me, the most beautiful 911’s. Tarting them up by adding the turbo wing destroys the purity of Tony Hatters masterpiece.
For me the difference between 2S/4S and turbo is exactly the wing. The silhouette on the naturally-aspirated car looks so much cleaner and more elegant. That and the great sound speak for these cars. The turbo is the full-fat version, with more power and torque and that wings belongs on there for technical (intercollegiate) and aerodynamic reasons. It does fit to that model and makes it stand out.
To me, a 2S/4S with a rear wing always look odd, pretentious for that very reason. Hence I would certainly go with the original rear wing on that car.

Hi Damian, beautiful 993 you have, I really love the color. Do you perhaps know the size of the spacers that have been used? I’m in doubt of putting spacers under my 4s and love the stance of your car.

I owned a CarreraS in the same colour,Forest Green Metalic,with identical interior trim.A great combination.On the question of the rear wing,definitely stay with the original.Although I think the split design was only standard on the S,although could have been a special order.
Why does it always seem to rain after a really good clean of a car !. Porsche looks stunning. I'd keep the spoiler, makes it look mean.
Really enjoy these videos. The previous air cooled started the man economics working and bought a 1982 911 sc, alongside the 991.2 gt3 and Macan gts. This c4s, is stunning love the colour, but I’d go with original rear end all day long

Beautiful car here . Detailed down.to like new finishing. He should put a PPF clear wrap on thus car here. $1200 to $1600. Is worth it.
Keep the wing. It makes the car unique, with the standard one it will look too plain and same as any other 993. But I’d get the standard one repainted as when you come to sell it, it will sell faster with it attached. But I’d definitely refresh the interior, unless you plan to use it hard.

Looks fantastic. But get rid of the Techart wing. …Original looks so much better. But being a spod, I’d say that you’ve got a spoiler off an S not a 4S .

Love the car-not the tech art spoiler though. Put the original spoiler back on and the car is the way it should be. The tech art spoilers always make the 993’s look like wanna be turbo cars.
