When Led Zeppelin began-other groups in the same vein were Deep Purple, Cream, Black Sabbath. Then progressive rock would appear Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer and Genesis. Other types of rock-blue-eyed soul rock Rare Earth and jazz rock-Chicago, and Blood Sweat & Tears were popular. Other bands like Traffic (60s band was a jazz progressive band borrowing from other genres). other bands like the Who-started in 1964 but continued to be innovative throughout the 60s and 70s-from 1965's My Generation to Substitute to the 70s Baba O'Reilly and Won't Get fooled Again and Who Are You-same with the Rolling Stones who started out as a blues band but turned pop with Satisfaction in 1965 and were continually evolving as the darker side of the Beatles with songs like Sympathy For The Devil, Jumpin Jack Flash and Brown Sugar. The Beatles were the trendsetters bringing the British Invasion sounds of the UK in 1963 to the US in 1964-a slew of bands followed-The Animals, manfred Mann, Dave Clark Five-in 1965 the Beatles went to a more sophisticated pop and folk sound with the Rubber Soul album-in 1966 a garage rock sound (Paperback writer), early pschedelia sound (Tomorrrow Never Knows) and full psychedelia with the Sgt. You're never going to please everyone. There are always going to be studio vs live preferences. I think it really depends on the song. Some bands are just as good or even better live. Usually, people can give you the best versions of a song as a consensus. I generally prefer live versions from the artists that are truly talented back then. The "un-holy" trinity of Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple and there was also AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Yes, The Eagles, The Allman Brothers Band (country), Genesis, The Who, The Guess Who, Rush, Jethro Tull (not a person), King Crimson, Talking Heads, Steely Dan (not a person), Gratefull Dead, Kraftwerk (NOT very well known BUT, very influential), Emerson, Lake and Palmer, The Clash, Sly and the Family Stone, The Ike & Tina Turner Revue, Rainbow, The Rolling Stones, Santana, CCR, Supertramp, Roxy Music, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, Mississippi Queen, Funkadelic, Average White Band, Chicago, Kansas, Boston, T-Rex, Judas Priest, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Uriah Heep, The Jam, Blue Oyster Cult, The Cars, The Band, Focus, Derek and the Dominos, Thin Lizzy, Cheap Trick, Renaissance, Iggy Pop, Fleetwood Mac, The Scorpians, Traffic, Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), Blondie (not a person), The Ramones, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Bee Gees, Dire Straits, Kiss, . . . . . This is a lot of them, maybe most of them AND it doesn't even include ANY of the solo acts, of which there were also dozens.
Mississippi Queen was not a band. It was a song by the band Mountain. And that’s a pretty great list, but certainly not exhaustive. Foghat, Heart, Steppenwolf, Moody Blues, Procol Harum, Alan Parsons Project, Rush, Foreigner, just off the top of my head
@@helenespaulding7562 Yer absolutely correct, Helene. Feel free to metaphorically smack the back of my head. YOU actually listed a few of MY favorites that I neglected to mention. Pretty sure that there are others.
With today’s tech, it wouldn’t be as good.@9:41 you hear the faint “pre-echo” one of the most iconic things in rock history. That was a bleed-through of another take of the song. It was recorded on tape and when Page heard the “error”, instead of muting it, he amplified it. It was a “happy accident” (Bob Ross reference😁) that added to the song. With modern digital recording, it would never have shown up in the first place.
A back door man was someone who would use the back door to a woman's house when he visited her while her husband was at work. He is the backdoor in hopes the neighbors would not see them.
First time viewer. Glad you liked it. You need to let songs play until they’re done. Granted, there was not much left, but you did cut it off. Not cool. Besides, you missed Plants last great scream 😏 And yeah, you know we hate it when you interrupt so much, as you said. So, can you cut it back to 2-3 times instead of 8-10?

@@wesalker3479 oh yeah……so many outstanding bands…..and we took it for granted that it would always be that way….
Try "How many more times" by zep - a personall fave.
Check out their song NO QUARTER.
Cool show
5:37 I assure you, Robert Plant is no "average person" lol
A back door man was someone who would use the back door to a woman's house when he visited her while her husband was at work. He is the backdoor in hopes the neighbors would not see them.
Who hadn't heard studio Stairway? Over played for 50 yrs. Live is more refreshing
First time viewer. Glad you liked it. You need to let songs play until they’re done. Granted, there was not much left, but you did cut it off. Not cool. Besides, you missed Plants last great scream 😏
And yeah, you know we hate it when you interrupt so much, as you said. So, can you cut it back to 2-3 times instead of 8-10?
Dude this was the late 60’s…not 80…🤪👍
80s, lol this came out in 1969
Whoopsie 😅
Kid is young just discovering 😅
Deep Purple; Humble Pie; Blue Oyster Cult; Foghat; Uriah Heep; Johnny Winter; The Archies....
React your way we grew up with them 😊😊
The guitar sound you heard is Jimmy Page playing with a (violin) bow.
Try this LZ song for a different vibe🔥
"Since Ive Been Loving You" MSG
I have to laugh at some of the comments: “This dude can sing.” Several million fans knew that. Any more insights?
