I have anxiety and depression bad enough that I need a service dog. I am unable to preform most tasks for jobs, though I am getting better. My parents got bees and we moved a swarm to my house. I love these little guys. My italian bees are calm and happy enough to let me work with them without a suit if I'm not removing frames. Don't even mind the lid taken off. I'm hoping to do a lot more with bees and some with sheep. I figure if I can't really work a normal job, I have 55 acres to be a farmer.
Swedish former beekeeper here. How amazing is this! And it looks just like around here in Östergötland where I live. At most I had 37 hives and that year a average of 80kg honey per hive. That was hard work! I can't imagine having a hundred 😅 Good luck to you mate! 👍🏻
"A box or two"? Pretty soon your soul will be consumed by the bee hivemind and you will own over a hundred boxes. All you will care about is bees, and eventually you will become the bee.
For some reason bee keeping has been in my head for a couple of years now. This makes about two hours of vids by you Ive looked at this morning. Very inspiring. Also, I once spent a year in Sweden and picking blueberries is one of my fondest memories, that and the Swedish country homes!
I see that the headline of this video said you are a professional bee keeper. Do not know if you take suggestions from other bee keepers or not but here is something I do not know if you have heard about or not an a little something to help you out . Have you ever heard about running only 9 frames in your 10 frame honey supers . What you do is pull one frame out of your 10 frame supers an then space out your nine frames equally in the box . What this does is the bees will draw out these frames thicker than normal an believe it or not you WILL get MORE HONEY in these thicker nine frames than you will get out of 10 thinner frames . YOU WILL GET MORE HONEY. Then if you pull one out of nine supers that is enough to make you another super with out having to purchase the frames all you have to do is purchase just another qbox that adds to your equipment cheaper and I do not know how you uncap your frames but it makes uncapping a lot easier to do . Also if you sale your capping wax it gives more wax to do with what ever your need is . I hope you understand what I I am trying to say on this because it REALLY DOES WORK OUT GREAT. You can make more honey and money with less work an less equipment an less time . Good luck from the USA . Keep up the great work.
I'm a beekeeper from South Africa. I do the same for my broodboxes.. only 9 frames.. but for a different reason- i've noticed that the bees tend to leave the side of the frame against the box which could lead to the wax moth slipping in there and laying eggs. So I use only 9 frames to give them better space to defend their hive all around
What an awesome documentary about Kalle and his bee-keeping! Your videos are always great, but this was excellent! Fascinating to watch, even though I don’t keep bees. Keep up the amazing work and thanks for the video!!
There's a blue bee in like Costa Rica or somewhere and they only eat lavender flowers so their honey is this blueish purple!!!!! They're so beautiful!!
As someone who moved from england to Sweden, this is such a fun episode for me. I really appreciate the high production value that goes into these videos. Thank you for this! This is also my first RUclips comment, haha. These videos definitely inspire me along with many other people.
It was great to see how other people are Beekeepers, I loved where he keeps his smoker when traveling, making it safe to move when still hot. I was unaware of the Honeydew taken from aphids too, thanks for sharing Alex.
As a swede, the misquotes are absolutely annoying, but they are the worst in the forest. If you are out when it’s a bit of breeze, strong enough to make its way through the trees. Then the small little buggers can’t handle it and you won’t have to deal with any mosquitos. Also just picking up some roll on misquotes repellent works well. We have very favourable laws for walking, foraging and camping in Sweden. So I recommend taking advantage of it while visiting. Depending on the time of year and where in Sweden you are I recommend foraging for: wild blueberries (blåbär in swedish, extremely easy, super delicious, they are everywhere, I believe they cover something like 70% of Swedens land mass), Lingon berries (lingon in Swedish, pretty easy but you don’t find them in the same mass as the blueberries) wild strawberries / alpine strawberries (smultron in Swedish. You find them everywhere, but just a couple of plants. And more in the edge of hedges or close by a spring. Pretty rare to find a really big patch of them in the Forrest. Super delicious) Cloudberries (hjortron in Swedish. A yellow berry relative of raspberries and blackberries. You are able to find it everywhere in Sweden, but some parts of the country has more of it and easier to find) Chanterelles (kantareller in Swedish. There are many other mushrooms to forage. But chanterelles is one of the easiest and most delicious)
starting eating honey because of these videos. having some right now. got the covid and had been a nice watch while not feeling good. hoping to get a hive set up myself when i can. thank you and keep up the great work, lovely to see you pursue your passions

Thankyou Kalle for sharing your beekeeping life with us it is very interesting. I started beekeeping this year I am excited and nervous with all the new things I will be doing next year. Splitting my hive, adding and making new hive boxes and growing my apiary. I hope all goes well and I dont have any unforseen disasters lol but with beekeeping you just have to learn and keep on going. have a good day :)
I absolutely falling in love with your Video, I am learning to become a beekeeper and your channel is one of my favorite. The mood the tone the music everything is just so relaxing. I’ve watched more than 1,000 videos of the beekeeping videos and yet yours are the best so far🎉🎉🎉 love. Fim from Thailand. 😊
love this channel! its amazing how many different ways there are to keep bees. one channel he takes the frames and just puts new frames in and never takes the supers, another takes a super and put a clean super back in its place. i think as long as the bees are happy you can just do it however you find it the best for you maybe
I hunt in Sweden and we have these devices that create a special smoke that scares the mosquitoes. It’s extremely efficient and I’d go as far to say I wouldn’t be able to sit guard on my hunting position if I didn’t have this device they’re great!
Great informative video Alex as always, really enjoyed watching it. Your passion for bees and other adventures outside of fishing is refreshing 🐝👍🏼. I have a top tip for you, that will keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay. My father and I use Kanzuk barber lemon spray, the turkish barbers spray it on you, after they’ve finished cutting your hair. We found out from a friend that mosquitoes hate anything citrus. This stuff is amazing, as we used to get molested every fishing trip by the mosquitoes, now it’s great. Just a pity we had not found it years ago.

I was hiking in Alaska and saw some blueberries next to the trail. Several hikers were stopped and picking the berries. Then someone said "You know the bears would love these berries!". All of a sudden everyone decided to move on. Grizzly bears don't mess around.
Hi Alex! Beekeeping is an absolutely fascinating subject! And to see it being done on an industrial scale is amazing, it’s certainly a full time job! It’s also because apparent to me that you have to accept quite substantial bee losses when dismantling and reassembling hives, but I assume losses are absorbed easily by bee reproduction! I wonder what happens when the worker bees from the mobile hives are out collecting and on their return to the hive, find that it’s gone! Do they join other hives in the area?
