    Interesting. Would be good to see a full documentary on this subject. Seems like legal slavery. After 1835 a worker could work for a pittance, under contract for a period and work in the sugar fields, but treated like slaves - constant hard work, low wage, if any and given accomadtion and benefits.

    From your point of view they misunderstood. Please show respect to the victim. Please see the history from the eye of the victims. Soldier were sent to re enslave them.

      no bro slavery was abolished and they were sent to inform them but when the slaves saw the officers they thought that they would be recaptured so they chose to jump. and how would you know what the victims saw to be able and say that? also everyone is mauritius knows this story
